No appointment was needed, although you might want to call ahead and confirm - they get very busy in the spring/summer (as you can imagine). I was told it would be about three weeks, and it ended up taking about four weeks. Plan ahead if you need or want your bike within a certain time frame! After 3.5 weeks, I called to get an update, and the employee was super friendly and explained they were a bit behind schedule because of demand. A few days later, I received a text message that my bike was ready for pickup. Really pleased with my experience with Gray Goat and highly recommend doing business here! Aside from the service shop, you can come here to browse new bikes, equipment, etc. The employees seem really knowledgeable about the products and all things cycling.

Basic clothing and a good spread of accessories for the sport rider and commuter too. A smattering of camping and climbing gear exists but for these guys the bike comes first last and always. The thing that sets HBC apart is that it is a serious bike store, not just a bike shop. Yes, it has a great guy running the place, just like the other shops. Yes, they have their quirks and a history that runs deeper than the Marianas Trench. But the great thing about HBC is that you can be a person of just about any ability or aspiration in cycling, and walk out after one visit with pretty much exactly what you needed or wanted at a fair price. That is no mean feat in today's online-dominated, razor-thin margin environment. Lafayette and Tippco are amazingly well-served by HBC. It's a bit like finding a Chevy dealer in a tiny town surrounded by cornfields, that also sells Ferarri and Jaguar. Virtuous Cycles downtown is a great bike shop too, with a better clothing selection, great people and some great bikes. I visit them too. But I always start at HBC.

Ive passed Bicycle Hospital many many times and they have been in business for years. I had a second wheel so I switched out and dropped my wheel off on a Wed with a gentleman with a beard. He was friendly and said no problem to fix. It was ready to pick up Friday but I didn't go till Saturday. Walked in and the female employee knew I was there for my wheel. Cost me 20$ to fix something I couldn't and would have cost me triple any other place. They must be doing something right to be in business so long. My bike will need a tune up this fall and I plan on taking it here.

Rented a Pontoon boat with friends to take out on Eagle Creek to have a birthday celebration. With…read moreit being Labor Day, we had a bit of a wait. Honestly it didn't seem horrible to me,of course that could be because we were told to arrive once the boat was secured for the day. When my husband and I arrived the computer system was down so the attendant said we were to enter free for the day since he couldn't take payments. The day just got better from here. Our friend, whose birthday it was only had a short wait, but to him it seemed long he said. Once he got to the front he was told we had a wait of approximately twenty minutes. During this time, my husband and I found front parking next to our friend's car, thanks to his wife. When we got in touch with our friends car he had us to bring our coolers and sunblock and we all met up at the restrooms where there were a few picnic tables as well as an awning to block the sun. We took the wait time to play a card game and snack. After a few hands of cards we were called back to check in and we got our life vests and saw a short video as well as signed waivers. Nikko was very helpful in getting us onto our boat and with a 'have a great time!' We were off! Peaceful waters for the day and we even saw friends which was a surprise as they were put with their sailboats. All in all it was a great way to spend the day and we would definitely go again!

I went in looking for hiking boots. There are no check out or manager areas when you walk in the store. Instead I was greeted by racks and racks of IU Championship shirts. A quarter of the store is devoted to basketball. This is Indiana, after all. Balls, shoes, attire, they have it all. Pacers, Fever, Purdue? They lgot it. I wondered through 3/4 of the store before I saw an actual human. Finally, someone came from the back to ask me if I needed help. I asked about hiking boots. With an entire back wall of athletic shoes, they did not really carry hiking boots for women. I was a little shocked, but I guess there aren't a lot of women that hike in Indiana. Really? So I asked about women's clothing and the clerk kindly walked me over to a wall of women's outerwear. Nice high-end such as Patagonia and Northface caught my eye. I love selected a beautiful Northface jacket that had my name on it. If you are into pickleball, they've got you covered. Cute clothes so that you can look adorable on the court - got em. Balls and rackets of every color and make. - got em. If you need golf clubs, they've got them out the wazoo. There were aisles and aisles of clubs and a wall full of bags. This Dick's is worth visiting if you are into sports that require courts or golf. But I give them a "D-" if you are a woman who likes to hike. There is abundant parking in their shared lot. The store is easily accessible. The store has been here several years, so I don't as surprised that no one has reviewed.
