First off, we did a ton of communication thru text beforehand, where he sent me CarFax records, and answered all questions. His price for the car was really really good. I had been car shopping for 4 months, spent hours researching various brands, visiting countless car dealerships, and must have heard the car salesman pitch a dozen times. My family always told me to go through the dealerships since they fully inspect the cars and can ensure their condition, but I would have to prepare myself for a battle and at least 2 hours of back and forth negotiation before we even get to the mountains of paperwork. But their prices had become so inflated and since COVID hit, they refused to negotiate - "the price you see is the price you get". So, I was about ready to give up and just settle for the fact that I would have to pay $34k to $36k out the door for the car I wanted. Then, I came across John's ad in Craigslist. The car he was offering wasn't what I wanted, so John kept looking for me and didn't stop until he found exactly what I was looking for.
