"My daughter and husband felt like they found the perfect car. The excitement on my daughters face was priceless. California Auto Brokers is a consignment shop owned by a father and son, Ed and Matt Antenicci. My husband asked me to write this review since he is not affiliated yet with Yelp. I usually don't like to write any bad reviews but, we were so hurt by the disappointment coming from this company. My husband said; .....The old saying: "Never trust a used care dealer" was probably coined for these guys! After telling my husband and daughter that the owner of the Ford Fusion was willing to negotiate, my daughter and husband drove from Menlo Park to Walnut Creek, an hour both ways, to test drive the car. After test driving it they agreed to pay the negotiated cost that the owner had agreed to which was a few hundred dollars more than what we offered! My husband asked Matt if he could fudge the sales price so he didn't have to pay so much tax. Matt said:"we don't do business that way" which my husband totally respected and said: "No worries we are still interested!" Matt agreed the car was ours and he would drive it to our auto mechanic in Redwood City for an inspection, and that was the last we heard from Matt! I have never wrote a Yelp before, but this needs to be addressed. My 82 yr old mom was in an accident over a month ago and her Mustang was totaled ( not her fault). She needed another vehicle to get her around town. She bought a 2004 Volvo from this business a couple weeks later. She noticed a glob of oil on the ground one morning and took it to a Volvo dealership to see what the problem was. Apparently it has a blown head gasket! How does a business feel good about selling a $6000 car that requires a $10k repair. My mom isn't going to fight this, she understands that used cars are "as is", but like most seniors she is on a fixed income and is still trying to decide what to do. Basically my mom is screwed. If I lived in the area, my husband would have laid on the ground and looked under the car and more than likely would have seen leakage. But, customers shouldn't have to lay on the ground to check for such problems. If a car is a dud then don't sell it, or have it repaired properly and not sneakily covered up. I had a great, enjoyable recent experience here. This is a family-owned dealership run by Ed and his son, Matt. Both are very friendly, knowledgable, and honest. They are highly selective in which cars they list for sale - they only choose vehicles that are in excellent condition and have had no prior incidents or damage - so you can rest assured that each car in their inventory is of the highest quality. They also have their trusted mechanic inspect each vehicle for any defects before listing them for sale. The car I purchased from them was a 2014 Toyota Corolla with about 30,000 miles on it, yet it drives like a brand new vehicle and its body is also absent any noticeable wear or scratches. When I took it for a test drive, I did notice a slight alignment problem with the steering wheel. I mentioned it to Ed and Matt, and they took it to the nearest Toyota dealership to fix it before closing the sale, at no cost to me. They truly value their customers' satisfaction and only want to offer the best product they can. This dealership can also search for cars by request. So if you're looking for a car that they don't have in their inventory, just tell either Ed or Matt what you want and they'll search around for you. Unexpected surprise! My wife's birthday was in two days so I got on the net to browse for a gift from Costco. Somehow I ended up opening a favorite tab to Craigslist. The page had an ad for a Lexus SC430 that caught my eyes. This was the car I've had always wanted, (a convertible hardtop). The pictures in the ad spoke a thousand words, but really there were just a few words "Immaculate Condition"." Low Miles", "Extensive Maintenance Records".and of course the deal $13.6k. What a deal I thought, but it seemed too good to be true. The next morning when they were open, I went to see the car and met Matt and his father Ed. Man the car was awesome!!! These guys weren't kidding. They were upfront with everything. They showed me a folder full of maintenance receipts, Carfax to verify the car's history. They pointed out all the details about the car. I was sold at that point. I rushed to the bank and got a cashier's check made to them and then I had realized "but what if my wife doesn't like the car"? Uh-oh.. So I took her there to see it, "Just in case". As I expected "she was in love". She wanted to take the car home right away. Ed said no he'll have it detailed first since it's a birthday gift and they can deliver the car to our house.
