I have had the WORST experience with this company and hair. For starters, living in the nyc area, I decided to visit their offices in person in order to inquire about and feel the hair before making the investment. After being promised minimal shedding and tangling, I purchased two bundles of the natural wavy at 22 and 24 inches. The hair has been absolutely horrible. It almost immediately tangled, and almost after two months, the hair has decreased from shedding to about half of its original volume. Before writing this review, I thought I would reach out the company to tell them my experience, only to be met with the utmost hostility and disdain. Both individuals I spoke to told me that since I did not complain about the hair within 7 days of purchase, I was essentially SOL. Further, the woman who works at this company told me I should just buy more hair from them and "see how it goes." What a joke. I've purchased from Echelon three times. The first time I appreciated the great customer service and the product. The second again the customer service was great but the product didn't seem like what it was. This third time I was short changed on the product. They sent me a bundle that was not true to it's weight in ounces. Unfortunately it was noticed while my hair stylist opened it to do the install. I had to purchase additional hair from her while sitting in her chair. She informed me that a few other clients have had the same experience. I am really cheap with a good review when it comes to hair. So when you see me giving someone 4 to 5 stars, you know I believe that the hair is well worth it. I didn't want to give this hair a good review after only a couple of weeks of wear. I had this hair more than a year! Most hair I get doesn't hold up nearly as long. I bought the deep curly hair wefts and made a wig from it. The curls and the texture all held up well. And is still going. It almost looks the way it did when I bought it. I can't even believe I am saying that. I think the shampoo and conditioner I used made a difference in the longevity of this hair as well. I used a cowash that I bought from Marshall's and that's all I have been using to clean it. Sometimes I would add a conditioner, but it really didn't need it. This is a little store is located in the Empire State Building. I really wasn't expecting much from this hair. Who knew??? I was in need of a different place where I could spend my money and feel that I actually got what I paid for. This was it! I don't care where the hair is supposed to be sourced from. I tried Echelon Hair based on a recommendation by the best and fastest weaver in NYC, Weaveologist Fashion Hendricks on January 9th 2014 for a Dancing with the Stars Cruise vacation. This hair is absolutely fabulous and totally natural looking. I've had many a weave in my day with so called no tangle human hair and it always got tangled and looked fake. NOT SO with Echelon hair!!! It lays flat, doesn't tangle, blends perfectly with my hair, and so easy to take care of. It held up well to the heat and water held its curl or its crimp or stayed perfectly flat depending on the style I chose for the day. I was planning to purchase the hair online (had a great beginning of the year sale going on) but decided to go in person to see the quality of the hair first hand. I'm o glad I did -- I got to meet the owner -- very nice guy. I purchased 2 bundles of relaxed straight 14". Now I can just order online without fear of what I'll get. This is a update on my experience with Echelon Hair.... I will start off by saying that when I posted my review this was a very old review that I forgot to post and was sitting in my saved information. I decided to post it because I take yelp seriously when it comes to me deciding what companies I should spend my money with. needless to say a consumers honest opinion comes in far more handy then any website and with the virgin hair industry being so shady now and days real experiences from people who KNOW hair is very much needed. *Customer Service* After I posted my review I was contacted by Echelon pretty much asking me what happened, I was not expecting to be contacted by anyone because I purchased the hair 12/13! Simone was very apologetic and advised me to contact them about this matter. I didn't get back to them right away actually maybe 2 months went by before I responded. When I did respond back I explained what happened and what I was unsatisfied with. Although this was such a dated matter Echelon responded back very fast and this shows their diligence. This time the owner contacted me personally and asked for me to give him a call. I spoke with Raj and I explained my knowledge on hair and exactly what happened when I purchased the closure. Raj gave me a run down on the company and we spoke extensively about hair from the consumer stand point and the manufacture/company stand point, I also learned some fun facts that I was not aware of on the industry side. Long story LONG Raj apologized and offered to replace the closure I purchased A YEAR AGO! honestly I wish all customer service could be like this and it should be when you are spending your money but it's not! I was surprised and know that this is unheard of. Customer Services means a lot to me and Raj went above and beyond when it came to that sector. throughout the whole experience I never felt that he was upset about my review only disappointed that a customer was unhappy and he made sure to do all that was possible to rectify the situation. *note* although I purchased hair from select strands in the past, from Echelon I only purchased 1 closure, 1 time, over 1 year ago not a major donor purchaser if I may say so myself but I was still treated as if I purchased 10 bundles, a closure and had stock in the company. KUDOS ON C/S Raj superb! *The old closure review* I am a honest person and I don't do things for likes, endorsements nor free product so I must say I stand by my first review.... there are times in the virgin hair business where you do receive bad batches this is human product. Maybe the hair for the closure I purchased last year was one of those bad batches, I don't know what the exact reasoning were but I was not satisfied. It's also important to know that I colored my closure (auburn) as well, this might of made the closure a little more unmanageable but I know it wasn't the main reason for my closure behaving in the way it did. I know how to color hair very well and been doing so for years. however when you color any hair it does get a little dry. *THE NEW CLOSURE* The NEW closure I received is TOTALLY different from the closure I purchased a year ago! the construction now has PU stripping around the edge, the shape is constructed differently and last but not least the hair is authentic! this closure is made of real virgin indian hair NOT manipulated processed chinese hair. I can tell from my experience with hair, the slightly frizzy natural ends and the overall feel of the hair after washing that this is the real deal. It seems like Echelon revamped the closures and I am very very satisfied with the new product. After visiting the office again I am considering purchasing a bundle set from Echelon and seeing how that works out. I played with some of the hair in the office and I could tell it was unprocessed which is important to me when it comes to purchasing hair. After many trials and errors with hair companies I'm happy that this time my money wasn't just confiscated without any concern. read more

So in response to the business owner I did in fact have a meeting with him and another lady who works for him last summer. I was recovering from foot surgery at the time, but was still in pretty good shape to travel. Ultimately the only reason why they wanted me in their presence was to try to bribe me into taking down my negative review. Yes I was at the time new to wearing hair extensions and I can only speak from my own personal experience. This hair is dry, matted and sheds like a dog. The hair continued to get thinner and thinner due to the clumps of shedding. It is definitely not worth the price tag as I have said before. The fact that there are other negative reviewers on here besides me who also experienced similar to what I did should be a dead giveaway that it is the hair that is the problem and not the individual. These crooks had the hair advertised on their site as "shed-free" and "tangle free" and I paid $450 of my hard earned cash just to end up experiencing both. I've purchased hair for half this amount elsewhere and the hair was silker, softer and had far less shedding than this garbage. You guys deserve to know the truth. It is not my fault that the seller falsely advertised his product. When I brought this concern to his attention he than told me the hair has minimal shedding and tangling. Well why didn't you just post that on your site to begin with? The owner and the female worker than proceeded to tell me that because I am inexperienced with wearing hair extensions that I do not fully know what I am doing. They ended up giving me 1 free bundle of hair in 16 inches (which was a joke to me) in exchange for me to take down my previous review which I refuse to do. When I told them I would not do that the female worker got an attitude and tried to bully me. She than apologized for the comment, but I could tell it was insincere. There is nothing and I mean nothing this company could ever say or do to make me change my mind on how I feel about this hair. P.S. they once had a NYC stylist who I will not name that promoted their hair and praised it which was the reason why I brought it. It's tough leaving a review because I wanted to love everything about this hair. I originally ordered 2 bundles nature curly in 18" and 20". When I received the hair I immediately fell in love with the hair. The hair smelled great and was soft to the touch you can tell this is good virgin hair. Everything went south when I went to weigh my hair the 20 in weighed 3.59 oz and the other was 3.3 oz. When I contacted Raj he was unsure of what I wanted from him and I explained I was willing to pay for another bundle since my 18in was thin but not for the full price because I was already shorted. After a very professional back and forth Raj offered me a 16" at a reasonable price he told me to list it as their Brazilian wavy and notate that it was for nature curly. When I received the 16in I was highly disappointed and instead of reaching back out I just took the loss because I didn't want to have to go back and forth again. I know that when purchasing bundles vendors match them up at that time for similar luster hair pattern and things like that, but this 16in was far off. It felt like I was sent the Brazilian wavy and not the nature curly. The 16in was rough with shedding, and had a distinct curl pattern that you don't find in true Indian hair. I suppose if you go to New York and buy your hair there your experiences won't be as bad. They have some really good hair but I'm not sure what happened with the 3rd bundle I was sent. I'll probably have to leave more of my hair out now since I can only use the 2 bundles which I did not want to have to do. Such a big let down read more

I live in Atlanta and purchased hair from Raj for Superbowl 2019 weekend. I use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner as instructioned before I had it installed. Within the first week it was tangling up and shedding. I contacted Raj and he assured me to continue conditioning and treating the hair as I did. I continued to contacted him weekly as the hair continued to shed and thin out. I sent him pictures to see how thin each track was. He offered me a discount on new hair and asked to me to return the hair I had just installed back and pay for new hair. As a consumer I was greatly disappointed and unsatisfied. I expressed to Raj that I had used Echelon hair in the past years as a recommendation from my nephew who worked with him and was very pleased with the quality of the hair. I even spoke to Raj about investment possibilities. I purchased 2 bundles from Mr Raj. At the beginning, I was quite confused about the quantity and weight of the hair I received. I contacted Mr Raj and he explained me the situation clearly and reassured me that I have received 4 ounces per bundle for sure. This issue was handled well. However, the moment I installed the hair, it begon shedding like crazy. I have had it for a week now and it is unbearable. It sheds way too much! I feel like after a month I will have no hair left. This is quite disappointing since I paid around $400 for 2 bundles. This was a waste of money and I will not be purchasing again. I've had it for a WEEK and I already need to find another vendor since this hair won't last long with the amount of shedding. Please keep in mind, I am taking great care of it. I am using only sulfate-free products, deep conditioning it and detangling with a leave-in conditioner every day. Even this doesn't help the shedding! read more

I bought this hair plenty of times before but in April (I know a while back) I purchased two bundles and purchased my third a week or so later all 24" Brazilian for my birthday and graduation. I made my hair appointment dyed my hair (black) when I went to get it installed my stylist had the worst time even combing it out before the install. I had to just walk out with my hair undone it shed tangled and by the time I was done trying to tame it the bundle was thinned out I had chunks of hair it was a total mess. The bundles were short and only good enough for one row!!! The last bundle I purchased was a good one soft curly I should've known the other two were bad because of the difference. I called the CS number and got in contact with a guy explained the situation to him and he said I could ship it back ok. Then he gave me the number to the nj store and was told other wise I understand completely that it was dyed ok but that hair was total crap I dye my bundles all the time and it never alters its texture good hair is good hair I loved echelon but they are completely slacking go elsewhere. read more

My sister has used Echelon Hair in the past and I always admired the hair so I decided to try it myself. I am very picky about the type of hair being put into my head when I do choose to weave my hair. I care more about quality than the price of a few bundles and Echelon Hair is good quality. I have not tried all of the different types of hair they offer, so I can only speak about the hair I have tried and it is the deep wavy. The deep wavy is very soft and the curls fall nicely. The deep wavy can also be worn straight. When the hair is cared for correctly, the hair does not get tangled. The hair does not frizz up, however there is minimal shedding when softly brushing the hair. Echelon hair can be washed and reused and the hair is still soft and flowing. I'm a fan of Echelon Hair and I will be purchasing a few more bundles. In the upcoming months I will be trying their other types of hair. read more

I ordered from this company many times and this last time I received terrible service. They sent me a 12in bundle when I ordered a 14in. I contacted the company FIVE times, no one ever emailed me or contacted me back. I emailed an old contact and he said he was no longer with the company and gave me Raj's contact info. Raj was very rude and told me he doubted the bundle wasn't 14 inches. He essentially called me a liar, asked if I've ever been to india, and said that I don't know what a 14in bundle was. He told me that I had to pay to have the hair shipped back to echelon and he would decide if he would send me the correct lenghth. What happened to the customer is always right???? He then proceeded to tell me they don't have the ability to print and send a pre printed label and that he would refund me for that (IF he found the bundle wasn't 14in). To explain the fact that my 5 requests to contact the company were ignored, he said that the company is only run by two people and they dont use their published website and I should have called.... WTF???? How should I know that and why should i care? If this is a multimillion dollar company why aren't they keeping up with their website? I will never use this company again. There are hundreds of companies that sell hair with FAR better service, less shedding and better quality hair. DO NOT use echelon.
