I have truly never had better customer service as I received from Echo when I visited her for the first time in late February. I found her through Yelp and the comments of previous posters were the endorsements I needed to make my initial appointment with her. I went in with a sheaf of pictures and after giving me a bottle of water, we got settled in and went through all the different pages. Echo very frankly explained why a cut would or wouldn't work; whether it was because my hair didn't have enough wave or she understood my sensitivity to my jowlyness and the cut simply wouldn't be flattering, the process of the consultation was new and exhilarating. It was an education and I appreciated how actively she listened. She asked me about the best haircut I ever had and what made it great. She even called her next scheduled client and asked if they could start a little later so we weren't rushed. She works methodically, thoughtfully. Every snip or slice of the razor is done with precision. I got the sense that she could see a few steps ahead to what was going to be and understood the subtle cuts to get there. At one point I closed my eyes because I knew we were coming into the homestretch and I always love the surprise of that first look in the mirror when the cut is complete. When I opened my eyes and saw my hair, my fabulous hair, I teared up. I actually put my face in my hands and looked back again to make sure it was me. I looked at Echo standing behind me in the mirror and choked out the words, "you get me". She said it was the best compliment she's gotten. And I have the best haircut I have ever gotten! I've now been having Echo work with my hair for five years and I still love every style and cut. I decided to let my hair go natural gray and Echo kept cutting it short until there was no red left. I did not have the patience to let it grow out. This past summer I got a Lock down Buzz cut and Loved it, with the heat we had it was a blessing to get rid of all the hair. It's been about a year since Echo did magic on my hair and bless her for all she did for me! I went into her salon three months before I was getting married and told her I wanted to get close to my natural color before the big day. I'll start by saying I've colored my hair dark brown/black my whole life and my natural is a light brown with hints of blonde- I also have realllllyyyy thick hair and at the time really long/damaged hair (Sadly I boxed dyed for a long time) and I wanted to keep most of my length. Let's just say I put this lady through a lot and she still did a fantastic job. She did what she could in that time period and helped my hair back to health. I can't forget to mention she is a nice, down to earth lady and I would recommend her to anyone. I just moved to Louisville and was looking for a new stylist. I have pretty finicky hair so was very nervous about going somewhere new. After reading Echo's reviews I decided to take the plunge. Echo spent time in the beginning to learn about my hair and what styles I liked. I got a cut and color and she never rushed through it and I appreciated how she took her time. Conversation was also very easy with echo which is important when you're spending several hours in the chair. She gave me a style that is completely new to me and suggested I part my hair opposite to how I've been parting it for years. I was hesitant because I am terrible with styling my own hair but she assured me with the way my hair grows in that I could make it work. She took time to show me several different ways to wear it, as well as how to properly blow dry and what types of product to use. It's been 3 days since and I'm totally rocking the new style, I'm able to spend the same amount of time as I did on previous style, and it looks fuller and funkier. This lady is seriously solid gold. I went for a consult. I never had anyone do such a thorough job of checking out my hair and asking what I wanted to do with it and really taking the time to make sure she understood. Then she washed, cut & styled my hair. Let me just tell you: the wash alone is magic. I got a head & neck massage & my scalp has the tingles just thinking about it. She took about 90 minutes with me. The cut? Omg amazing. The best haircut I have had in a long time. I am in love. The cut takes my hair color, texture, thickness and direction of growth all into mind and what happens is I have the haircut that my hair was made for. So it's really really easy to style and looks great no matter how lazy I am with it (I have really short hair with some areas of length and some spikes going on so I do style it; it's not fun to just wash & wear with my tastes). I have had a problem with my darker hair color bleeding into my highlights when I wash my hair after coloring; Echo mixed me a conditioner with my highlight color in it to combat this problem. It's a big help. She styled my hair exactly how I like it (this is rare: usually stylists don't do it how I do) and used some nice products that work really well that I'll probably buy. I'm going back soon for a double-process color. Her haircut price included wash & style and was a price I'll gladly pay. Her coloring prices are excellent. Plus she is nice and funny and has just a great style and personality. I find this important too: if my stylist is not stylish, chances are the cut won't be stylish either. New to this stylist. I found her on Yelp when I was looking for someone to help with hair color issues. Echo was utterly Devine. She was so friendly and attentive. The attention she gave me was exactly what I was looking for. She made me feel pampered and gave my scalp a fantastic massage. But most importantly, she gave me the most fantastic haircut and style EVER. From the moment I walked in, she just got my hair and my face shape. I'm super open to whatever and told her that. She asked for any pictures. She took one look and was like "that's what I was picturing with your length and chin and texture ", then she just did it. I'm from Louisville and had a truly great hairstylist that moved to Europe several years ago. Since then I have tried half the places in town. I've gotten my hair done twice by Echo. She does the #1 most important thing: she does a thorough consultation. I went in for a cut and color and the cut wasn't that complicated, she was going to fix some bad layering that the person before her had done, so that was easy. Next was the color. I had texted her a picture of a bright auburn ombre and she talked me out of it, which is good, because she made me realize that while my new hair idea would look like a great street-style, it might not be conservative enough for my brand new legal career. So we kind of did a compromise and I left with a really subtle red-auburn ombre. In the next week, I felt weird about a couple of strands near my face and decided I didn't want those to have color in them and they were clashing with my skin tone. She asked me if I wanted the color there, I said yes, and then just changed my mind when I saw it on myself. I texted Echo about it and she fixed it at no charge, even though it wasn't her fault. Point being: I really love my hair now for the first time in a long time and that fact really speaks for itself. read more
