I've been searching for affordable quality salons for a kid's haircut and have finally found the winner! Trim NULU was recommended to us by a friend, and we finally tried it out. The appointment process was easy and we were able to book online. We had two options for a kid's haircut and the cost was $25-30. The salon is located on E Main Street, in the Billy Goat Strut building. With plenty of on street parking. We were immediately greeted when we entered and were checked in. The salon has two long rows of chairs with mirrors in between, and a comfortable seating area. We waited about 8-10 minutes for our appointment. The stylist was great and took the time to consult my daughter in the cut she wanted. She did a great job and took her time cutting her hair, then curled it. The finished product was a beautiful cut and style. We will definitely be back! read more

So it's been a while since I visited trim Nulu, but I will never forget how horrible my experience here was. This was hands-down the worst color experience I've ever had in my entire life. My hair was literally gray when I left. The lighting in the studio is terrible, so I really couldn't see just how bad it was until I got in the sun. I knew it wasn't quite right, but after sitting in a chair for four hours and vibing with the stylist, I was hoping that I would like it. I WANTED to like it. I called immediately after leaving (in tears) and was assured that I could come in for a simple toner and it would be remedied. So I went back in the next day and my stylist was busy with another client so a different "stylist" helped expedite the process. Unbeknownst to me, the other stylist was the owner of the salon who did not bother to greet me, introduce herself as the owner, or acknowledge the situation. I thought this was very strange and off putting. Given the severity of it all, I was very surprised that this is how a business owner would handle a botched service. My hair looked nothing like what I wanted (I WANTED BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS AND MY HAIR TURNED OUT GRAY) and the way the whole situation was handled was insulting to say the least. At one point I was crying bc everything was so terrible and I was so frustrated, and the owner literally told me that I needed to get it together or leave because it was affecting the other guests experience in the salon. She did offer to personally re-do my hair-with the caveat that I would suffer extensive damage she could not guarantee that the results would be to my liking. It was either that or she would give me a 50% refund. In the end I was humiliated, I felt completely devalued, and I would not recommend the salon to my worst enemy. Go elsewhere.. I'm writing this review because they have high ratings and that's why I decided to go there in the first place. read more

STOP and READ before booking an appointment with this salon. I rarely write bad reviews and I apologize for the length, but would never want anyone to have the terrible color experience I had with Katie Dunn at Trim Nulu. I scheduled a balayage and asked Katie to brighten some of my blonds that had faded a bit. Look at the photos of my hair before and after. The photo by the tree is my hair before Katie. The photos with the odd streaks is after Katie. Brassy. Abrupt. This is Katie's idea of balayage. Brie the salon's co-owner was very kind in promptly returning my call (on her day off) and told me that she does color correction "all the time". I understand why now. Well, the other two photos are after Brie attempted to correct my color, but my natural dark brown was "corrected" into an awful reddish tone and my blonds looked like ashy streaks. After Brie "corrected" my color, I waited a day to consider if I could just use root cover up to help with the double color disaster. I honestly could not believe I had been charged $300 for a service I was having to fix with a product from CVS. So I requested a refund for not receiving the service I requested (balayage). Brie did try, but the salon's CEO could not be bothered. I didn't know that after Brie attempted color correction, it is the salon's policy not to refund. I told Brie I would be posting a review and suddenly, the CEO decided to offer a 50% refund if I would not post a review. I don't want to be bribed to hide the truth, especially when I have to walk around everyday explaining why my hair looks insane, so I disputed the charge, which the salon is still fighting. Anyone who has soft, white blond highlights knows how long it takes to achieve that tone. In two hours, Katie destroyed all of that. When I went to Spoke and Weal salon for an actual correction, the colorist explained that Katie simply did not leave the product in long enough. How did two professionals at the same salon not figure this out, but the colorist at Spoke and Weal knew what happened right away? And was able to make my hair look great. Trim Nulu's CEO's response made it clear that if one of their colorist makes a mistake, it's your problem now, not ours. And what's even more unethical: here's only 50% of your $300 if you don't post a review. As a professional salon, wouldn't you just acknowledge two mistakes and give a refund? I came in for a cut, color, and eyebrow wax. I am really happy with the cut and color, but the eyebrow wax unfortunately may be the worst one I have ever had. They are uneven, over waxed, and caused me to have a massive breakout. My hair, however, is gorgeous. read more

First time here, making an appointment was a breeze. You can either call in or make an appointment online. There is plenty of free on street parking and a small lot to the building. Trim Nulu itself is located on the 2nd floor and there are plenty of signs to follow to get you there. COVID precautions are in effect and staff follows accordingly. My stylist was Chris. He was amazing! Very personable and took his time and gave me options on what to do with my hair. The ambiance for my experience was great, loved the music! I usually just do a shampoo, cut, and style, but they offer many other services including color. Dry cuts are priced at $35. Adding shampoo is $55. I'm changing my rating because after I posted my prior review, the salon contacted me and apologized for missing my email. They do monitor Yelp and they wanted to make it right. They got me in promptly. Brianne, the color manager, lightened my hair, and I feel much better about myself. Brianne was very gracious (even though I was a bit grouchy), and she kept offering to do anything else to get the color to my satisfaction. I may go back IF I can get Brianne to do my color. It was an unfortunate event, but appreciate their integrity for offering quality service. Every business will have a mishap now and then.
