If I could give minus stars I would..............SAVE yourself from this hellhole of a place. First of all it's dirty and the fact you never have to wait is a good sign the Dr. has no clue what he is doing. He does not listen or know how to answer questions. He gave my animal unnecessary shots and treatment , the fact that I took my beloved animal to suffer more is something I will have to live with. the absolute worst place to take any animal, the Dr is completely incompetent and totally stupid. The fact that he is a Dr. is unbelievable. Everyone was weird there , especially his assistant. lurking around... I feel he contributed to my cats death and i hope that he burns in hell for what he does to animals. We have been taking our pets to the EP Vet Hosp. Since the mid 70's! it is a great local place. The Staff that is there now is amazing! Mercy and John have always been nothing but helpful. The new owners are a joy. We now live out of the area. But,still bring our animals to this vet. Because, of the staff and service it is well worth driving the extra miles! (we are 45 min out of the area!) Recently our English bulldog got sick.. Mercy at the front desk was so understanding and the veterinarian even let us sit with our bully for a bit before she was taken in to get her procedures done. I took my English Bulldog there because here eyes were cloudy and her ears were itching. The Dr. was very attentive, thorough, and fast. We were in and out in under 20 minutes and Bridget was cured! She got some medicine for her eye and a shot for her ears and was better immediately and totally better in 2 days. I appreciated the fact that he was quick and didn't charge us for a "office visit", just the meds. I'll take her back for sure. read more

Worst experience ever. This is my first time here and First off, the front desk staff is horrible. The women with the purple hair was beyond rude. I walked in and she gave me attitude like I was a major inconvenience. I called ahead the night before and explained my situation fully and they said I would only need to see a tech but when I came in I tired explaining our situation again the women at the front desk cut me off and said I had to see the Dr which is fine but she was very dismissive and rude. Zero compassion. Does she even like animals? I was visiting to have a nail trim. My regular vet always makes my dog feel at ease and treats her one long (wild) claw easily and without fuss. This Doc suggested I think about amputating her toe? Are you kidding me... just a nail trim please. They tired to charge me $200 for something my normal vet does for $15. Its stressful taking your beloved and nervous pet in. Because of their lack of professionalism, understanding, and compassion they had me worried that they were trying to scam me. I don't care about paying but i want to be sure it's authentic. I will be taking my dog back to her normal vet for a second opinion and will never be returning. read more

The front desk staff is very nice and it's great to have a low cost clinic that's so accommodating. Walk ins are fine and the wait in the morning is not bad at all. VERY limited parking behind the building but there is some side street parking. I'm giving 3 stars for the following reasons. I went in to get a rabies shot for my dog and also make appointments for my pets to get health certs for air travel. I asked the desk if the vets see cockatiels and she assured me it was fine. She told me to just come in with both pets in the next few days. I did just that to find out they do not see birds nor have they ever had anyone ask if they see birds. So basically, I schlepped my bird over there and wasted my time only to call around frantically to get an appointment somewhere else just a week before traveling. Not cool. The young lady at the front desk on my second visit was very apologetic and even called another vet for me. She is the reason I am not giving 2 stars. The vet assistants who gave my dog the rabies shot and also weighed and prepped my dog for the vet seemed more experienced competent than the vet who saw us. So, I'd definitely recommend this clinic for simple things ($10 rabies, basic exams, etc) but to be honest, if my dog had a more serious issue, I'd go elsewhere. read more

I honestly loved this place. They're very kind and very attentive to our needs. My first visit was on June 22, 2016 for my 10 week old husky to get his vaccines. I was pretty skeptic at first because I'd usually go to my original vet at Koreatown, but I wanted somewhere kind of closer to that. I saw this on Yelp and throughly read through the Yelp reviews before even calling in. I've had okay experiences prior to the last time i visited Echo Park Vet. My dog got kennel cough - and so did his cousin Penny - Charlie was seen briefly and with the naked eye diagnosed by male doctor (who i can add later when i have receipt sheet) I was given the option to run X-Rays for $200.00 because he may or may not have fluids in his lungs? Wait what? I opted for antibiotics and if he worsen I'd bring him back. since it was Charles first time the $30.00 check up fee was waived. My total cost for 15 tablets was $168.00. Charlie's cough same day worsen, i called in panicked because now he was vomiting fluids - the rude receptionist with no compassion at all said, idk i can't help you, bring him in. I didn't. I googled. It was part of the symptoms. This is where I am thrown off. My sister took her dog with same kennel cough (contagious from dog to dog) to Affordable Pet Clinic Torrence - under the same umbrella as Echo Park Vet - I found out when i decided to check it out since my sister only paid $100.0 total for what she says the most compassionate and caring staff. Penny received 1 shot and three medications. - huh? Wait a minute how? So i called echo park and asked for clarification of prices. The rude obnoxious lady on the phone tells me the manager has told her it's because every doctor is different and price differently. So... you saw me and assessed that i can afford more thus i paid more and you dismissed my dog and my concerns within 7 minutes? ( that's how long Charlie was seen for). Isn't that discriminatory to a certain degree? The receptionist tells me "it is how i just told you, at least your dog is fine now right?" SERIOUSLY? I'll obviously not be recommending this place any longer and asking my current client friends to go on to silver lake where the staff is so much sweeter. Be sure to double check the price sheet before hand and / or go in looking like a person in need so you're not bamboozled. read more

My dog gets her stomach tapped every other month her from fluid build up bc she has congested heart failure. Prior to Polk seeing my dog the same vet saw her. He consistently took out no less than 120-125 cc. When Polk started seeing her she was consistently taking out on 25 cc (which is nothing). The last time this happened I told them no she needs to take more out that's not acceptable, my dog was also losing her hair and losing weight and this doctor said nothing about it except that she had dermatitis. Fast forward to today almost a month later my dogs fur continues to wither away and has not gained any weight. we took her to a emergency vet when we were out of town for something else they suggested we have our primary vet test her for cushings disease bc she was show signs of the disease. So I took her in today to get tapped and to be tested. Because it is curbside I asked the technicians ask the doctor if we should do xrays bc they emergency vet mention something about a mass. The technician said she would have the doctor call. The doctor never calls. I come back to pick up my dog. I spoke with Dr. Polk and asked how many cc did she pull she said that they don't measure the amount of pulled. Which is completely wrong bc the other veterinarian always told the amount he would pull out. Then tells me my x rays were fuzzy bc of the fluid build up. They bring my dog out a long with the bill to sign for but I'm not satisfied bc 1) they charged me an extra $70 for her stomach tap when we have been paying $30 every single time we've came which has been over a year. 2) I wanted them to pull out as much as they can and 3) my dog was still leaking from her body so I'm wondering why xrays would be taken if she still had fluid coming out of her neck. You would think that she would have called like she was suppose to and suggested for us to come back when she stopped leaking to get the clearest possible X-ray. So I told the young lady I wasn't going to sign until I had my questions answered. When originally asking about the price of the tap they said it was the doctors price, then it was that I didn't see dr Polk last time (which was not accurate bc she was the one that did my dogs last tap). Then the manager Jessica came out and said well the doctors gave you an adjustment we normally charge $100 for this procedure and I told them last time that they can't do that and to let you know (which they never said anything to me). Then when I asked about why she wasn't pulling more out the manager lied and said "they abdominal taps aren't consistent every time". Again another lie/false information. I know how much has been taken out each time. It was consistent with the other doctor at no less than 120-125 cc and then switching over to dr. Polk consistent with her 25 cc. So seems to me she wanted to cover her and the doctors ass for doing half ass jobs. Then I ask about the X-ray issue. She said she wasn't sure she would go ask. Upon coming back she tried to say the doctor took xrays after she was done giving her the tap. I said just because the tap was done doesn't mean my dog is completely drain there is an incision that allows the fluid to continue to drain. My dogs neck was completely drenched, for she some reason she leaking from her neck but they had her abdomen wrapped. So I ask her what sense does that make if you can clearly see she draining still why would she do the X-ray. Jessica again danced around the question never giving a straight answer. At this point I start to get extremely frustrated and begin to yell at her because she keeps repeating herself and never answering the question. So I tell her to go and get me the business license to their hospital and the doctors license number as well. Because I was yelling at her she verbatim says, " You're not going to y'all to me like I'm a child and now I'm not going to let you sign for your bill and we won't be sending in you dogs blood work". This part is so infuriating and malicious.. so you'll deny a sick dogs blood test bc you're upset that I'm yelling at you bc you won't give me any straight answers about what took place in your facility concerning my dog? It seem like in all aspects from the receptionist to the manager to the new doctor none of them can do their jobs efficiently. I waited for her to bring me the info I requested, she comes out with the doctors business card ONLY and said per her REGIONAL MANAGER STEVE KEMP that they were not required to give out their business license or the doctors business license. So I asked, "don't you guys have you business license in the lobby area for public view?" She replied yes. So I asked so you have it in out for public view but you're not required to give it to me? She said our lobby is technically closed because of covid so we don't have to give it to you. Jessica lied several times to me.If you can't answer questions what are you doing at this establishment. read more

The people who work here, other than the vet, are absolutely amazing. I agree I may not take my dog here for serious health problems only because the vet seems a little incompetent. My dog was having serious digestive issues and though he gave her a thorough examination, I'm not confident he knew what was wrong with her. I was a little pissed too because when he walked into the examination room he told me she smelt like parvo....not something you should just throw out casually. The vet assistant is hilarious and scary in a mad scientist kind of way. He barely speaks English and hovers around awkwardly, but is really nice and made me laugh the whole time I was there. The receptionists are super nice and friendly, but seem to know more about caring for animals than the vet does. Overall, this was the most relaxing vet visit I've ever had, even after I was up all night at the emergency vet. read more

Our senior dog was not feeling well so we took her to the vet. This was our first time here and although the front desk staff were kind and considerate to our feelings, the Asian Vet attending to her was cold and insensitive. Because of our dog's situation and the fact they were closing in an hour, she instructed us to go to a pet hospital near Glendale, but would not do anything to temporarily help our dog. She just disappeared and left us in tears. We took our dog to the other place and although she couldn't be saved, they had compassion, spent time checking her and running tests and helped us through a heart wrenching decision. For about 20 years, I've been the human companion to three rescue dogs. All have received caring and thoughtful attention here. Today I needed to bring Karl Bark in for a foot injury. With kindness and gentleness second only to the quality of care, Dr. Przekop quickly diagnosed the matter and treated Karl. He spent a reasonable amount of time explaining the injury and educating me about continuing care. We're home now for a few days of rest and recuperation, then we'll return for a follow-up exam. Before any procedures are undertaken, pet owners are shown itemized costs so there are no surprises. The prices, in my opinion, are very reasonable. There's a reason why this place has 2.5 stars. How did I end up here?? My sister in law recommended this place because she takes her dog here for vaccinations. I failed to yelp this place before my trip. Yes, the staff is very friendly and the prices are low compared to the previous pet clinic we went to. But friendly staff and low prices wont bring my dog back to life. Cherry was diagnosed with a kidney infection. The vet suggested she stayed at their location. Well, she did just to be given fluids....no antibiotics. We found our dog dirty and smelly. It just seemed like nothing was getting done and we weren't told if our dog had good chances of making it. If there's a serious issue with your pet I suggest you take it else where. read more

I have been taking my dog to Echo park veterinary hospital for last 4 years , i always have good experiences . My dog has an ibs and we unfortunately need to see the vet probably more often than a healthy dog. Especially the last vet that we have seen recommended low fat id food instead of regular id food . It seems like worked better than regular id . My dog is 8 years old and we have been dealing with this condition for a very long time . So , as i said last veterinary we have seen there has helped us a lot . The pricing is good , not very expensive at all. Doctors are great as well... highly recommended ! read more

Very clean facility. Friendly staff. Not too expensive. The shots they gave my cat have resulted in an abscess growing on her neck in the location where the shots were injected. As far as the treatment goes: at first her scratching stopped, but now she's right back where we started with constant itching and scratching, so I don't think we have good results. read more

I would first like to say I am happy this place exist and I understand the need for it. The staff is very friendly. Please realize that you will have to wait even if what you need would take 5 mins. Today my dog needed an allergy shot. To administer the shot, takes less than 2mins. My dog did not need a check or any extra services, literally just the shot and I explained this to the administrator. I signed in at 9:55am and waited over two hours until 12:10pm. They took the dog and 12:10pm and gave her back to me at 12:14pm. They knew all she needed was a shot and could have had me in and out. So if you have unlimited time to spare, it is a decent place but I would spend the extra money and save yourself the time. I won't be back read more

Let me start by saying my dog has huge medical history. He's racked up some hefty bills. And we are no stranger to vets. So when he started coughing,hacking, and wheezing I began to panic especially since I don't have the funds I used to. An acquaintance recommended Echo Park Animal Hospital, and since I now live in the area I hurried over. No appointment and very short waiting time. The doctor right away pinpointed the problem with no xrays or needless tests. We left with two different types of medicine and a shot all for a little under what most vets charge to get in the door. The doctor as well as front desk people were very nice. I definitely will be back but hopefully not to soon. My only complaint is the waiting room was a little dirty and smelled like cat pee. I think it could have been cleaner, but I'm willing to overlook that and see if it changes next time around. read more

Any routine checkups or vaccinations are probably fine, but don't go here for an opinion about something more serious or unknown. I took my dog here for a limp he had. Dr (guy who doesn't speak english very well) put a 10-day cast on him. Limping stopped. He started limping again about 5 months later. Another x-ray, another 10-day cast. Dr looks at him after, sees no limp, says the dog is fine. I decide to get a second opinion when the limp returns. The 2nd doctor (at Los Feliz AH) took one look at him and told me I needed surgery. All would've been averted, he said, if I had caught it about 6 months earlier. I also left my dog at their kennel for 2 weeks and when I got him back, he peed all over the house for a couple days. He had fleas and a very odd rash which cost me over $300 to treat. When I asked how a typical day was for him while he was in the kennel, the receptionist said they'd take him out of the cage to pee then put him back in. No walks. They did nothing but feed him and give him 2 pee breaks a day. As a result, his weight doubled in 2 weeks. I hate saying this because I love the receptionists, but don't go here. And if you do, and the receptionists give you doggy advice, take it with a grain of salt. Hell, take anything anyone here says with a grain of salt. read more

I've been going to this vet for a few years and recently switched to Mohawk Alley due to the inconsistency of good and bad experiences. My last straw happened when I took my dog here after he was attacked by another dog leaving him with a really bad eye injury. Echo park vet was the only place near by that was open so I rushed over and they luckily took me right away. The downside was that they gave me a bunch of meds and told me that his eye will be fine. Not always having the best experience at this vet, I went with my gut and took him to Mohawk for a second opinion. They strongly suggested that I took him to an eye vet which I did and they confirmed that my dog will be blind in that eye. They also provided me with all new medication and noted that the meds that echo park gave me were under dosed. The 3 stars is for the staff because they have always been very friendly and it's not like they under dosed my dog on purpose. I'm writing this review however, to inform that this place is good for the basics (shots, ear infections, whatever) but if you have a serious situation, pay the extra bucks and get a more reliable opinion. read more

I took my lovely dog here for the first time several years ago. She had a snout tumor and needed surgery. The receptionist and the vet himself were amazing. They treated my dog really well, removed the tumor, gave her some medications and she was fine! Tumor free ever since! Since then I've brought in my other dogs and they all have been treated exceptionally well. The vets here are really amazing and have their hearts in it. When we had to put one of our doggies down, they cleared out a private room for us. The vet tech even cried with us. They even waived some of our fees. Truly a wonderful vet. Reasonably priced. I rescued a kitten from Downey Shelter and had to urgently take him to the vet the morning after I for him due to the shelter's negligence. I was weary because of the reviews, but its around the corner and in my panic i went for it. Ultimately, i had a positive experience. I saw Dr. Camburn, and she was very compassionate, patient and thorough. Since then, I have continued to take Arlo in for routine things such as vaccinations, travel, colds [from kennel cough,] etc. and have always been happy with the outcome and the service. If something more serious were to happen that required surgery, i may opt to go to an a different vet as you don't always see the same doctor here, but they are very nice, affordable, and if you call ahead of time they will let you know if there is a wait. read more

I was very satisfied with the service I received at Echo Park Vet Hospital. The vet and support staff were really nice and accommodating to myself and my 7-week old puppy. I initially researched their website and reviews about this place. I purchased their WellCare Package for $299 which includes an initial physical exam, vaccinations, de-worming, fecal lab test and neutering. Very reasonable and affordable, considering the neuter/spay procedure can get pricey in itself. My puppy did not complain or cry while he was here. He was a little scared, but only because it was a new environment for him. But the vet made reassured both my puppy and I that he (the pup) was calm and safe. Great hours and a very reasonable prices. They give you your first exam free, and send out coupons occasionally. My one complaint is that after they convinced me to deworm my dog, they didn't warn be that it would upset his stomach. If they had, I wouldn't have given him a full sized dinner.
