The staff at this veterinary hospital truly saved my puppy's life, and I'm incredibly grateful for the care they provided. I came in during an emergency and in desperation. We were treated with honesty, compassion, and patience from the very beginning. While my puppy was being hospitalized, we were consistently informed with updates and took the time to answer all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed. Their communication and kindness made a very difficult and stressful situation much easier to go through. I hesitated to write this review but like a few others I had a terrible experience that hurt my dog's care and have to warn other pet owners. My wife and I brought my dog in with a hurt leg. We went through seeing the vet and got x-rays. The procedure was for Rivers to send the x-rays to their ortho team for consultation. We never received the consultation. Instead the manager, Sergio, who is a tech and not a trained and licensed veterinarian, told us he "did us a solid" and talked to his ortho friends and "confirmed" that our dog did not have a ligament torn. Again, Sergio is a not a vet and made that call. As a result, we took our dog to physical therapy and never saw improvement for months because of this false diagnosis. Finally we took our dog to another vet to get a second opinion and they undeniably confirmed it was a ligament tear. We went back a second time to Rivers and had our first and last visit with Dr. Acosta. I don't say this as an exaggeration - Dr. Acosta was rude and confrontational the entire visit. When I tried to calm her anger and explain to the best of my ability what's going on with my dog's leg, she belittled and attacked me for not knowing the medical condition of my dog. I'm not a vet and I never claimed and somehow I was attacked for her it. It was clear the visit was about her ego and nothing else. Never in my 40 years of healthcare visits, human or animal, have I witnessed something like this. Let me make it clear that the rest of the staff was absolutely wonderful: both empathetic and professional. However with both Sergio and Acosta, this place is dangerous. I am also reporting Sergio to the California Veterinary Medical Board. I hope for the sake of Rivers and their staff, and all pet owners, that these two are removed. read more

This used to be a really good vet office, and the staff are generally friendly. The main reason I kept coming back was because of the vet techs, they always made it feel like they genuinely cared about my dog. Even though the wait time could sometimes be over an hour just to see the doctor, I was willing to overlook it and continued bringing my dog here. However, my most recent experience completely changed my mind, which is why I'm leaving a one-star review. My dog's immunotherapy ended on 12/8/25. Since it was his last type c bottle and his allergies were still coming back, I gave the office a heads-up and asked whether the treatment should be extended. Sergio told me he would contact the lab to find out the next steps and get back to me. After two weeks with no response, I followed up and was told again that he would check with the lab. I tried to be understanding because it was the holiday season and the clinic seemed very busy. But after that, I followed up again in January and February. Each time, the vet techs told me Sergio would call me back with an update. Unfortunately, I never received a single call back. Now my dog's allergies have returned and I was never given any plan of action or guidance. After three months of trying to follow up, I've decided not to return to this clinic. It's extremely frustrating to feel ignored when you're trying to get help for your pet. From my experience, this office may be fine for general check-ups. However, I would be cautious about bringing your pet here if they have a more specific or ongoing medical issue. I understand that Sergio may be busy managing many patients, but three months without any follow-up is simply unacceptable. read more

My cat Winston was super sick with a fever, and every step of the way I felt I had compassionate and personalized care from every member of the staff. I love this hospital! I have two German shepherds that are generally very nervous, and since I started bringing them here, every experience I've had with the doctors and staff have been nothing but positive. They are wagging their tails, and generally very happy to see the vet for their exams. The vet techs are always so excited to see them come in. The staff keeps treats at the front desk that my girls love to snack on to make the experience positive for them. Both doctors I have seen there are extremely professional, and they provide compassionate, quality care. I cannot thank them enough for taking such wonderful care of my pups. I'm sharing my experience here so other pet parents don't face the same issue I did. On the surface, the staff are friendly and the clinic has a high Yelp rating, but appearances were misleading. In February 2025, a registered vet tech (Sergio) at this clinic told me my dog had protein in his urine, after the results were in, and then provided the prescription diet link through Chewy. Only later did I learn that vet techs cannot legally prescribe diets or medications -- only a licensed veterinarian can. The food caused my senior dog serious problems: excessive urination every 15 minutes, seizures, abdominal bloating, and constant thirst. When I returned in July 2025, the veterinarian (Dr. Seung Lee) admitted he had never seen or approved this information or prescription. He told me to "look at the labs myself," that my dog's protein levels were not high, and then threw his own staff under the bus, saying the diet was a "very bad choice" and that he would not have chosen that. He exclaimed that I needed to take up my problem with the staff. Instead of addressing the issue, he became defensive, raised his voice, and misrepresented me to his staff saying I was "denying bloodwork for her dog's health" when I decided to not continue services with this clinic after this incident (another female staff member was present during this moment, writing down his points in the hallway). This clinic allowed an RVT to act outside his scope of practice, failed to properly supervise staff, and left my dog's health compromised. Dr. Seung Lee is due for retirement. This is my direct experience, documented with records, and I share it so other pet owners can make informed choices. read more

I was able to get a same-day urgent appointment, which saved us a stressful (and costly) trip to the emergency hospital, definitely a big plus! My kitten, Remy, had some stomach issues and I was concerned he had worms. I had driven by Rivers Veterinary a few times and thought I would give them a try today. They were able to squeeze me in. Met with Dr. Sheriff and she was approachable, knowledgeable and took her time explaining my options. Prices were discussed and Remy was diagnosed and received his first treatment. The tech was very gentle and was not hurried in handling my baby. The place was very clean and staff were attentive in addressing all my concerns. The receptionist, Sam, was also very professional and welcoming. I will be seeing them for vaccinations and vet needs that may come along. She had advanced juvenile feline gingivitis and had to have ALL her teeth removed. We were so worried but Sergio and Samantha assured us and clearly explained everything carefully and patiently all the way along the process, procedure, and recovery. It was not the cheapest price, but also not the most expensive from what we researched. They went above and beyond and even were so engaged in the case, they had a specialist see if there was anything we could do to save her teeth since she was so young, but there was not. Someone tried to call me last week to say I had an appointment on the 27th of September instead of the 20th. When I called I let them know it was urgent I get ninja to vet immediately due to her coughing. They mentioned an appointment on 9/28 but they also thought that was too far in advance and they found me an appointment 9/20. As I stated previously I also called back to confirm the date and time.
