If my rating was for Dr. David Przekop only, I would give this place a full 5 stars, however, one of the receptionists (I believe her name is Jessica, a younger girl with platinum-ish colored hair,) makes me think twice before coming here again.
Because it is a walk-in clinic, I waited about 45min to be seen. I came in on a Sunday morning around 11am and had about 4 people waiting on the list before me, which I expected because I had been here once before and I know how busy it can get.
Dr. Przekop really showed his interest and care for my cat when I brought her in for a urinalysis. She had been peeing outside of the litter box and has had a change in behavior, so I wanted to have a test done. He was very helpful, concerned and knowledgeable, assuring me that my cat was going to be taken care of. He gave her a shot of antibiotics to help the bladder infection that he suspected was the cause of her discomfort as well as some additional fluids to help her flush out whatever was in her urine. He also went over treatment options for my cat if the results came back showing a bladder infection or crystals in her urine.
Once the exam was finished, I was told by one of the vet techs that I would receive a call the next day with the results of my cat's urinalysis. The day went on without any word from the clinic, so I called the front desk 2 days after my visit to check on the status of the test. Jessica answered the phone and seemed irritated by my call, rushing the conversation and cutting me off. I asked if she could find out about my cat's results and she said that she would give me a call within a few minutes once she heard back from the Dr.
I thought, okay no problem, totally understand. I'll wait for her call.
A few hours went by and I had not gotten the call back. I understand the clinic can get very busy, but she could have at least given me a realistic timeframe of when I can expect her call. I called the clinic once more thinking maybe she had forgotten. A different girl answered, one who was helpful and apologized because Jessica had indeed forgotten to check in with the Dr. for my cat's results. The receptionist this time assured me that I would receive a call from the Dr. by the end of the day and even mentioned that she understands how important it is to get these kinds of results in a timely manner. She was very pleasant and followed through, I am thankful for her great customer service!
Sure enough, the results from the urinalysis came back positive for a bladder infection and showed small crystals in her urine. Dr. Przekop left me a voicemail stating the results and said not to worry, a change in diet will keep her feeling better long term since we caught it early on along with the antibiotics he gave her during our initial visit. He recommended she start eating the Hills Prescription C/D Urinary Care cat food which they sell at the clinic.
I called the clinic to see if they had the food in a dry formula, the cost and if they had it in stock for me to purchase. Jessica was the one who answered. She was short in her responses to my questions and told me that I could come in to get the food. I initially told her that I would come in the next morning to get it and she said that would be fine. I ended up getting off work early so I was able to make it into the clinic to pick up the food for my cat, thinking that if they would have it in stock tomorrow morning they would surely have it tonight. I drove 45 from work to the clinic only to find Jessica at the front desk telling me that they do not have it in stock after all. I asked her why she told me I could come in to purchase the food if it was out of stock and she replied "well you said you'd be coming in tomorrow, I didn't know you would be here tonight." I asked her what the difference was if I am here tonight? Tomorrow morning is only 8 hours away, if you didn't have it tonight you wouldn't have had the food by the morning. She said, "well I guess I didn't check".
She did not apologize for her lack of care and gave me such a horrible vibe, just as she did over the phone each time we spoke. I ended up buying some of the cans of wet food because I needed to start my cat on the new food asap, but Jessica should have checked to make sure that the dry food was in stock before telling me I could come in and purchase.
Pricing here seems affordable- I paid $35 for the visit/examination, $55 for the urinalysis, $59 for the antibiotics and $38 for the additional fluid injection. Total cost was $187.44.
Overall, Dr. David Przekop is wonderful but it seems Jessica at the front desk is giving this clinic a poor reputation in regards to customer service as I've read in many other reviews. I will think twice before coming here again just so that I can avoid the stress and attitude that she gives off. Until she has been properly trained in customer service or is just let go of her job completely, I doubt I will be back. read more
