I've only had their chocolate bars (where you can find them at select places around the city) as well as their soft serve during the summers. Their store is small where there is no seating. Upon entering, you are met with a display of bonbon chocolates. To the side they have a wall full of their chocolate bars and they also have a freezer with their ice creams/soft serves as well. Their bonbon flavours are quite unique, many of them being Asian flavours (think tangerine jasmine, ume black sesame, coconut pandan, Ovaltine, tom yum lemongrass, White Rabbit, salted egg, durian, Pei Pa Kao (if you know you know!)). Their chocolate bars also are quite unique as well like the mi goreng (Indonesian fried noodle), durian, hojicha, and caramel pork floss). I had their soft serve last year which was a lemongrass gelato with yuzu/caramel & jasmine tea agar jelly. This year when I went, they had toasted milk with Pei Pa Kao (regular cup is $6.50, a mini cup is $5). Such interesting and unique pairings, something I've never had before (especially pair the Pei Pa Kao with ice cream haha!). Overall, a chocolate gem in East Chinatown. I ended getting the 16-piece assorted box and they were $57! I have to say this was one of the most unique and memorable chocolate experiences I had. Each piece felt like a mini adventure, combining bold, unexpected flavors you wouldn't normally associate with chocolate-- but they work beautifully. Standouts for me were the dragonfruit black sesame, Thai tea, and tom yum lemongrass. The craftsmanship behind each flavor is incredible, yet somehow addictive. These chocolates is something to savor slowly. Don't pop these like candy-- smell it, feel it, look at it, and taste it slowly.... Also I love the color on each individual ones!! I request that my family only get me chocolate from this retailer, and give them specific instructions on which mix and match to order. Purdys no matter how it's ordered (online or by phone) manages to send me chocolates that I didn't order in my mix and match EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY GET THE ORDER WRONG! And I have to give away those chocolates. One of my friends bought me the coconut mango cream filled chocolates $12 for the 5 pack. I went to exchange it. I found out they have a NO RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY. The clerk stated, "even if you just bought it and changed your mind, I can't even exchange it for you." For chocolates as expensive as these are I would expect better. That's the worst policies for a high end chocolatier I've heard of. I would expect you to stand by your products, not tell your customers to suck up your distasteful failed chocolate "creations". My last reason for shopping here was the sustainable cocoa farming they spout about on the website, fooling into believing they have some ethical framework they follow. This unfortunately doesn't go as far as putting any efforts into stopping child labour from their cocoa producers. Hopefully we can grow a conscience, because with the prices you charge, you can afford to act ethically.

This Purdy's location is pretty busy because of the foot traffic in the mall. It also keeps longer hours than the one at Sheppard Center. I think they need more staff! There was only one lady there to take orders so people had to wait. This location also has ice cream, which is popular with kids of course. That makes it more busy than usual. Anyway, the experience was perfectly fine. I waited only a little while & then was served. I will say that I was expecting the chocolates to be put into a small box but they put it into a bag instead. A box would have been nicer. The chocolates are a bit pricey but I was okay with that.

Close second was the Pineapple Tatin. Kind of reminded me of a Taiwanese pineapple pastry. Every piece had its ingredients shine through, and the chocolate was not too sweet. We savoured the single box for days, going through 1-2 a day, and we so so look forward to trying more from this shop. Prices are quite steep, but I think they match the taste, quality, and design. If they have it available, you MUST try the comet. there's just something so dreamy about chocolate and fruit. the comet is essentially a macadamia nut covered by milk chocolate, pistachios, passion fruit flavors, and dusted in cacao powder. I'm literally gonna go back before they close in an hour just to get a couple more to take home for friends! It's THAT good!
