***Extremely rude and entitled owner.*** I parked on the street near his store to check it out and he honked at me and proceeded to announce that he needed to unload his truck where I was parked. I was parked in a public spot. There was no "reserved" sign. I was free to park there. And he didn't even ASK ME to move my car. It was just some pronouncement that he made, like I was in the wrong. He could have doubled parked with his blinkers on to unload, he could have used the alley, he could have parked somewhere else, he could have simply ASKED me politely to move my car temporarily and I would have. But instead he responded with an aggressive attitude: "you do what you want, I'm just stating facts." Huh? I'm a neighbor and potential CUSTOMER and I just circled the block three times and finally found a spot to check out your store and now you're expecting me to move my car for you? And on top of all that give me such attitude about it? And after I move my car, you don't even say THANK YOU? I'm truly baffled why I was treated this way. I can only assume it's because I'm a BIPOC woman? I really don't know. But I was absolutely appalled at how he treated me and am never going near this store again. We saw the coolest old bell advertised on FB Marketplace. Messaged about it, and Mike responded quickly. He was very professional and helped us problem-solve how we'd get it from his shop to our home. We showed up the next morning as the shop was opening, saw the bell was even cooler than described, and purchased it. We had to get back on the road so I could get to work, which was a bummer because the shop was full of interesting items. I plan on returning soon to investigate further. I'm not sure if this used to be a bike store or still is or what's going on. The address I went to is the one posted here and the painted name above the door is Eclectia so I'm assuming it's the right place even though all of the reviews talk of bikes and there weren't many in this shop. There was everything else, however. Tons of random items packed like sardines in a fire hazard hole in the wall. None of which stopped me from meandering in and looking in awe at all of the stuff. Vintage showgirl costumes and headpieces, one of the first hair perming machines that used electricity, japanese art, theatrical masks, a 24K gold plated skeleton and so much more. And it wasn't only the random items that intrigued me. It was also the haphazard way in which they were displayed (or stored, depending on how you look at it)...hanging, on top of each other, crammed into ever nook and cranny possible. I had a hard time deciding if I was in vintage paradise or a hoarder's hell. Either way, I kinda liked it and the guy running the shop was super friendly which is always a plus. read more

I have been looking for Acapulco chairs for some time. Scouring the internet and only finding the chairs available online via Innit Designs (http://bit.ly/LgM4eD) for $500. Imagine my surprise when I strolled (instead of drove) North on Lankershim and spotted four Acapulco chairs on the sidewalk down from my house! The owner of Eclectica has them manufactured and driven up from Mexico and sells them for less than $200. This was a surreal experience. In addition to these treasures of chairs which I had the hardest time finding Ron has a terrific selection of vintage bikes outside. Bikes are mostly between $40 and $100, but there are some treasures on consignment you should inquire about. I did not spend much time browsing the entire of his store, but a quick peak in promised some exciting finds among the curios and lamps. read more

I wish there were more stars to give. The yelp reviews are on point. I had my cruiser shipped in a box during a recent relo to LA and needed it re-assembled by Sunday. I called Ron around noon on Friday and he quoted me half of what another local bike shop did. And he said I could get it back same day. I dropped it off at 3pm and got a call by 5 that it was ready. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the front door was locked. Luckily I had come from Collins St and noticed activity going on the in back so I went back there and found what I was looking for. I was a little unsure about what I was walking into when I arrived, but since I had read all the 5 star reviews on here, I stuck it out. Ron was busy when I got there, but he still made time to help me in the midst of helping others and doing whatever else he needed to do around the shop. I had just lost my car in an accident a couple days before and needed something, anything to get me around. I had never bought a bike before (haven't owned one since I was in elementary school) and I let him know about my lack of bike knowledge right up front. I had no idea where to start or even what I was looking for. He was so kind and patient and didn't seem to mind at all as he was picking out bikes for me to try. In the end, I ended up with a Huffy, haha, the bike I never had as a middle schooler. It was $70 and since it's such a cheap bike, I don't have to be so concerned about it being stolen...which is my biggest fear in owning a bike in LA. I've heard many stories of stolen bikes and tires, which is also one of the reasons I didn't want to buy a new bike. I didn't come here to get anything fancy or expensive, I just need to get from point A to point B until I decide it's time to buy a new car. This bike will do just that for me. After making my decision, Henry gave it a nice tune up. As he worked, I asked him a million questions and he was so sweet and helpful. What a nice guy. I bought a U-lock and lights there as well and was on my way. I can now bike to work and to run errands instead of dropping a ton of cash on a new car. $70 instead of $15,000....I'll take it! And hey, if something happens to my "new" Huffy, it was only $70....and I have no problem going back to these guys as a more knowledgeable bike rider to buy a better used second bike :) read more

I was on a month long trip through Southern California and the day I arrived into LA I got in contact with this place. Let me tell you, when I got to the store the owner was so amazing! I tried out a bunch of bikes and he didn't give me any trouble, he even helped me put on my brooks seat and set up a basket for the back. He fixed the brakes and after my trip was I we he even bought the bike back!!!! I paid $50 for a superb bike that I rode the entire trip all of Southern California. Bought a cheap BMX bike here and a good U-lock for $10. Later in the week, Ron let me swap in the BMX for a mountain bike, no extra charge. He's all about negotiating good deals for the customer. The rest of the staff is insanely helpful and friendly too: brought in a loose chain at closing time and they fixed it. It's a small, personal, and genuine operation here. Ron is quick to suggest purchases, sometimes lower than listed price, but not in a pushy way. They sincerely want to make sure you get a good deal and get what you want. It's your friendly neighborhood bike shop. BONUS: the antique store has a good selection of cowboy boots in various sizes for a great bargain. Ron was so patient and informative in helping me find the right bike for me! I came to his shop before the bikes were set out. He was very apologetic about his set up not being ready but I didn't mind it. He assured that everything would be out within an hour, which gave me the opportunity to walk around the Arts District and check out some food spots. By the time I came, everything was set up and he even had the bikes that were specified to my height (I'm 5 foot, short short short -___-) inside the building. He was very instructive and knowledgable about each bike, the frame, brand, tires, everything. Once I found the bike I wanted, he even switched the tires and seat height to my liking, as well as helped me load the bike into my car. Excellent customer service. Great prices. Eclectica's name has been properly dubbed - it is truly an eclectic Lankershim gem. I accidentally happened upon the shop while searching for my broken-cell-phoned boyfriend. He wasn't in there so I began to leave, but before reaching the door got vocally stopped by the shopkeeper asking me how I was doing. I informed him of my search and asked if he had seen anyone in a yellow letterman jacket. He had not but insisted that when I do find him I had to bring him back to check out the shop. Once I found him across the street, I recounted the story, so we returned and spent the next hour or so zigzaging through Eclectica's timeless vintage treasury of clothing, books, music, bikes, rollerskates, hats, belts, wallets, dressers, cases, props, cameras & much more from many a decade. The shopkeepers are wonderfully personable and passionate about their collection, which makes it a fun place to hang out. They pointed us to multiple specifically genred boxes of used records. My boyfriend got caught up flipping through each one and ended up buying a varied stack of jazz, blues & rock. I nearly bought a 1950s Kodak 3D camera but instead purchased a vintage German roll film camera for $8. Bought a vintage bike off craigslist and needed to do some repairs. I checked up Yelp and found that these guys do bike repairs and I decided to give them a try. Because of their 5 star reviews, I drove all the way from Inglewood to this shop and I am glad I did. The young guy at the shop took just a day to totally transform my bike to a totally perfect road bike and at an affordable price too. This is a gem of a vintage store. Stopped in with not enough $ to go apeshit but I'm promising myself to go back & do just that. The owner has so many amazing old dresses I was afraid to wade through only to not have enough for something I fell in love with. Vintage bakeware, jewelry, and genuinely interesting nick knacks (like a poison dispenser) are jam packed I'm the store. Outside were about 25 bikes, most steel & all fully functional for less than I've seen everywhere else. I just moved to NOHO from Denver and my brother had told me about this amazing shop where you can by bikes. So finally last weekend I decided to go ahead and stop by the shop on Saturday and I met Ron, the guy who owns/runs the shop. Let me start off by saying he is one of the nicest people I've ever met! He was so helpful and did everything he could to give me a good deal on not just one bike, but two bikes! If you're looking for a place that has amazing vintage items and some great bikes, then look no further than Eclectica. Such a great place to get vintage bikes or just a good run around town bike. You can expect nothing but great service from Ron and he's so helpful in making sure the bike is just right for you. Oh and if you don't like it, he gives you two days to exchange for another bike. Let me begin by saying that this was the best experience I've ever had at a bike shop. I've been a long-time 'Yelp troll' but this is the first time I've been inspired to write a review. On a whim this weekend my girlfriend and I decided to go looking for a new road bike and Eclectica was the perfect place! Immediately upon arriving we were greeted and within seconds we were directed to a beautiful road bike that was a perfect fit. Ron lead the negotiations with an extremely reasonable price and assured us that (because the bike had just been dropped off at the shop) we would get a full complementary tune-up. We dropped off a deposit, and the next day we were able to pick up the bike in near-perfect riding condition. I'm so glad that this store exists. I signed up to Yelp just to give this guy a review because he's absolutely, absolutely amazing. Ron and everyone that works with him are just the loveliest, most honest people, and they're the only people I'm going to go to for bikes. I got myself a gorgeous vintage Centurion, and they went above and beyond to rewrap the handlebars and add new wheels to it for no extra charge. Henry is GREAT with bikes, and you can see the time and energy he puts into every one of the bikes. I go way out of my way to visit Ron and the rest of his extremely friendly, personable crew because of the way they treat their bikes, and I would give them more 5 star reviews if I could.
