Sad... used to be so much better. I like fine books, NOT books damaged by the store with strapping tape. Clothes are often torn by the use of staples, and more than once I've been cut by staples while searching bag items. The staff is typically polite and professional. The occasional rude jerk doesn't last long. To rely on the Monday's drop-price-rude-crack-head shoppers to maintain profits is bad business. Unless you like drama, none of the price drops justify being there on Monday. The management is to blame when you see workers shoving good clothes into garbage bins to make room because even 75% off of too much is still too much. Prices are typically poor. Must shop for hours to find fair market rate. Vallejo has many folk who rely on thrift stores to clothe their family. No excuse for the prices. I understand this is not a charity, however those who do prices should be the ones to clear what doesn't sell here and adjust accordingly. read more

Value Center is the best thrift store I have encountered (among hundreds). 1. It's organized - set up like a regular retail store so you can go to men's, soes, housewares, etc. Not all jumbled up like most thrift stores. 2. Good quality items - for a thrift store, they tend to have a good selection of clothes that, you know, people actually wear at jobs. 3. There is a professional staff running the place, including the store manager. 4. It's clean - the floor is clean, clothes picked up. You know what I mean. 5. Doesn't smell like composting clothes These days, I don't have all weekend to visit every thrift store in the north bay in search of the perfect item of clothing. So I am willing to pay a few bucks more in order to have a good selection and professional place to buy second hand clothes. This is probably the nicest thrift store I've been to. The store is huge- there are lots and lots of clothes, as well as other items. I found out from the cashier that they have weekly sales, so items with certain tag colors are either 25%, 50%, or 75% off. If you shop at thrift stores, you gotta check this place out! read more

The toddler clothes are very well priced, everything else seems over priced above retail. There are sometimes tags still on the clothes from the retail stores and the Eco Thrift prices are way above the original prices. Their Doc Martens they had the several times I visited were $74.99 and not the one's made in England, made in China. You can buy them new for $25.00 more at a retail store. The sizes on their price tags don't match the clothes, the clothes are all mix in. I know this is a thrift store, but come on I shop here to get good deals. The employees are ok, but you cannot expect Nordstrom quality employees at a thrift store. Hopefully you start lowering the prices, especially on your supposed designer clothes. Some are fakes on the designer clothes, I am no expert but know enough what to look for on real designer jeans. Not paying $70.00 a pair for fake jeans that are knockoffs. read more

This place has a few good things sometimes, but everything is always so cluttered and messy. Why do they staple the prices on everything anyway? Why can't they use normal price tags and hangs off clothes with a plastic? Because I cut myself pretty bad from the staple. This review is gonna be a little different... You know how you see signs everywhere that you will be prosecuted if you steal? It makes you think they are always watching you on camera, but I actually doubt it ever since my incident here recently. My phone got stolen because I accidentally left my phone on a table. Yes it's my fault. But in a store that makes you feel like you're being watched 24/7, you would think if they had LP, they would at least help me get my phone back. But why do they have pictures everywhere telling customers to watch out for a lady because she's a thief? I felt helpless and hysterical. Ridiculous, smelly store! Went to get my eight year old some play jeans and the majority of the boys jeans were marked at $15-$25. Hello, do you know you're a second hand store? They probably didn't even cost that much NEW. Totally outrageous. Better off going to Marshall's, Ross, or even DD's to get brand new items. I love the fact that they SLASH their prices down, They always have new items being put up and its pretty decent inside!.. When the cash flow is low, Value center is the place to be! This used to be THE place to find the kitschy 20year old prom dress, worn in leather jacket or shiny baubles to deck your self out in. Prices have gone up, and the store changed hands. It's still very clean and well organized, considering the traffic coming through- and Thursday is an additional discount. Look for the signs near the register and front door for what tag colors are on sale. read more

Finding some good things here. Monday (sale day) is very crowded, but the "boutique" section has yielded some real treasures. It pays to wait, as each week the items are reduced. Just bought an item originally priced at $40 for $10. read more

I love this thrift store!! I remember when they were closed value center. But this place is even better. Great stuff for the collector or someone that likes great bargains! I have shopped at Eco Thrift for years, since it was called the Value Center, but today was the last time I will go in their store. I ordinarily spend $30-$50 per visit, which is no small change. Today I did my stroll through the crowded Sunday shoppers, selecting 5 items that I wanted to try before I purchased. The fitting rooms were all empty with nobody waiting in line. The attendant informed me they have a three item policy in the changing rooms. Fine. She instructed me to place my excess items in a shopping basket placed nearby. Fine. I took my two shirts and one pair of pants in to try on. The pants were a no, one shirt was a no, one shirt was a maybe. Leaving my boots and sweater in the changing room, I went out with my "no" items to put on the rack for reshelving and get the other two pair of pants to try on. So I'd have two pants and one top in the changing room with me. There was a short line waiting by this time, a whole five minutes after I first went in. Fine. I grab the two pairs of pants and tell the attendant that I will still have three items and she stopped me from going back to the changing cubicle where my stuff was and tried to send another customer in there instead. I said "whoa, I'm still using that and my shoes and stuff are still in there!". I showed her the two pairs of pants and said I was going to try them on and would be right out. She said no, that the policy was that I had to try on three items then come out and go to the back of the line to wait again to try on the other two items. What? I have never, not once in my life, heard of such a policy at an apparel store. Ever. Limiting people to three items to control for shoplifting is acceptable, I get that and am ok with it. But to tell me that i could not finish my turn and try on my other two items and instead had to start over at the back of the line was too much. Seriously, I asked? I said I had to go back in there anyway for my shoes and sweater, which she was reluctant to even let me do. I finally put the pants down on the floor and said that I do not have to purchase anything from anyplace with such a shitty policy, went and retrieved my possessions from the fitting cubicle, and abandoned the other items I had planned to purchase as well. I went to the front of the store and asked for a manager. I was directed to a young Filipino man who attempted to duck out from behind the counter and hurry back into the store but I caught up to him. I explained everything that had just happened and told him that his store was losing a sale due to their bizarre and off putting policy. He rolled his boredom glazed eyes and stared dumbly at me, mouth agape. He made no move whatsoever to apologize or correct the issue, or save the sale. I gave up as it was obviously pointless to continue. My patronage and money is not appreciated by that company and I will not bother trying to continue to give them either of those things. I hope you won't either. Our money and where we choose to spend it is the only voice we consumers have in a shareholder capitalist system. I'm not giving my money to a company that treats me with such disdain and obviously does not care if I come back. read more

I think that this is the best thrift store in Vallejo. You can find a bunch of stuff here, but you just have to look for it. I've bought many sweaters and jackets here at a very inexpensive price. Me and my friends have bought a ton of board games from here which are practically brand new, and for about 1/5 of the regular price in stores. I love to come here and just see what wonderful things I can find. read more

Yeah, I like this place because it's constantly being restocked. They have much higher prices on labels they deem to valuable, so you're less likely to score something like that. At the same time, they have the color discount system. They also may not consider the same things to be "valuable" that I do. So sometimes it works out. This store killed my passion for thrifting.. I mean the prices are OUTRAGEOUS now!!! BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS.. I asked the employee why they are so expensive & she said they look at what brand it is & make it half the price .. get the fuck out, it's a THRIFT STORE! stuff in there should only be a few bucks at the most! I love this thrift store out of all the thrift stores I've ever gone to just because it is the cheapest. There maybe some random expensive items in there that get me wondering, but for the most part I've bought skirts there for as much as three bucks!! What a freaking steal. Seriously. I popped into Eco Thrift because someone said this was the place to go if you like thrift-storing. From the outside it looked pretty dumpy. I mean I literally felt like I was pulling up to the dumps. Inside was way better. I have to say this store is one of the most organized and tidy looking second hand shops I've seen. It was pretty stinky smelling though...it kinda smelled like farts. Everything was in its place and each aisle was very orderly. I was surprised at how big it is....there are rows and rows of clothes and shoes. They even have a jewelry/collectibles counter separate from the checkout lines. The one thing I really liked was their huge selection of books. All the books were neatly organized in the appropriate sections, I spent most of my time in this area. I was able to find a couple of paperbacks for .99 cents each. They also had a big selection of dishware but that's pretty standard for thrift stores. They do have furniture which is kept in a shed outside by the front doors. Real slim pickings with furniture but if you are looking for clothes, shoes, and books this is the spot. Just one note, I went about 10 am and it was already crowded so be prepared to maneuver around carts and a lot of people roaming the aisles. read more

Unbelievable high prices on most items that carry names such as forever 21, hollister, a&f, wetseal, cotton on, etc..prices were tagged like they're on a clearance/sales rack in a clothing store. Even those glasswares that looks exactly the same from the one i got in the dollar store, cost $1.99. Luckily, our german shepherd loves the knitted blanket that cost only $2 so I'm giving them 2 stars. Good luck finding any second hand treasures that is worth the price. Happy thrifting! read more

Haha Some of the stuff still has tags from when the people who donated it, and they often triple what the tag says. Overall, really good and organized. Love that they try to rotate their product by doing the color tag sales. I come here a lot. Found some good stuff. Just depends on the day I guess. The book section is the BEST!!! read more

My favorite and most inexpensive thrift store here in Vallejo! Every time I go here, I find DOZENS and DOZENS of stuff. I'd say 90% of my closet is thrifted thanks to this place. I always find something.. You just got to really take your time looking. :) I always get compliments from my friends on my thrifted clothing and they get so surprised and jealous when I say just thrifted this or that for $2 or something like that. They always call me "Thrift Queen" or "Thrift Master" cause of how much I find and it's thanks to this place lol. Never had a bad experience with staff at all. The only reason I took a star off is because of how nasty their bathroom is that the thought of it makes me want to vomit.. They might as well not have a portable bathroom! And also for their stiff carts that are sometimes hard to move. Other than that. Great place with many options! That'll mark the end of my review.. Happt thrifting! read more

Me and my sister-in-laws love this place. You can never go home empty handed because you'll always find something you'll like. From books to unique accessories to vinyl records, actually anything! It is clean compared to the other thrift store I went to. All the stuffs are nicely seperated and you can tell that everyone love going in this place because it is always packed. The prices at this 'thrift' store are absurd. I made the mistake of driving 30+ miles to do some shopping here this afternoon and left empty-handed 30 minutes after I arrived. Yeah yeah, the prices drop 25% per week if unsold...blah blah blah. But when you price a plain, boring (albeit brand new) Levi's t-shirt at $29.99, you're just begging for it to sit on the racks for weeks. The store is literally packed to the gills with primarily used, DONATED merchandise that they could turn over so much faster by simply lowering their prices. But alas, the owners must be fueled by greed. Dumb greed, if you ask me, as products remaining on shelves rather than in customer's baskets seems a pretty foolish business model. Eco Thrift in Hayward, where I routinely leave the store with an over-sized bag full of 'steals', seems to get it. Must be a different ownership group. Save yourself the trip.
