Just moved in with my fiancee, and they helped us get rid of our extra possessions. The good: The folks who actually do the hauling are *great*. They took everything, handled it professionally, and were friendly and courteous. What would have been a huge chore went quickly. Their price estimate was fair and accurate. The less-good: The support from the office is not great. They aren't good at picking up the phones (I kept leaving them messages). On pickup day, they called my work number (I wasn't at work, duh, I was moving) and my *new* apartment number, but not my cellphone (I got all the messages the next day...), even though when I left all those messages with the office, I'd told them to call me on my cell. Also, their estimated time of arrival is just an estimate. They were pretty good about giving updates when they knew the time better (they do several jobs with one truck run, so a lot depends on how each job goes), but of course, that depends on them calling the right number to let you know... So, it's not a bad idea to schedule them on a day when you can do other chores (like pack the stuff you're not dumping). Still, a good experience! We'll use them again when we've finished sorting the stuff we moved but shouldn't have. ;-) read more

You know, it was so easy. I asked for a quote online and they got back with me right away. And called me in a few days just to follow up which actually motivated me to just get the stuff taken away. When I called them back they made an appointment for 2 days later. The guys showed up right on time took everything I had arranged for and a couple of things I forgot to mention. Really great experience with these guys. We had a lot of random junk to get rid of at our condo--with multiple stairs and limited garbage space, it was great to have these guys come in and help with hauling it all away. Not only were they fast, friendly, reasonable and professional, they even swept up and organized the things they weren't able to take! If i could give negative stars, i would. we had to schedule these people twice. the first time was semi our fault because we underestimated our load. (understandable) BUT they told us they were full and then our contractor, a guy, came up to say there was room and they ended up fitting a whole lot more. Thank god he came to speak up! 2nd day, we had a full load and they picked everything up except for one last stack of blueprints. this could have definitely fit no problem and the guy very RUDELY told us "do it yourself then" and also said "the truck is full im not going to say it again"..... i was literally at a loss for words. WE HIRED YOU GUYS! THIS IS NOT VOLUNTEER WORK! you do not tell customers to do your job! we paid about $1000 to these people when there are so many other options. save yourself a headache! these people just want to take as little as possible and then charge you for more. LASTLY! their little cell phone that they use to take payment wasnt working so their very rude office person called in and when i was telling him about my experience he cut me off and said 'MAAM I JUST NEED TO TAKE PAYMENT" and repeated this about 5 times. this is not how you gain and keep customers. so unbelievable! there are so many other haulers just use someone else. oh and also they said they would clean up the scraps of stuff they left behind but then did not. will never call this company again and will continue to spread the word as we are in an industry where this service is needed often. a little customer service could have taken them a long way. read more

I decided to give them another try, because I would like to use a "local" hauler that prides itself on recycling/donating where appropriate. I am very disappointed. I explained what I wanted removed. they gave me an estimate of $500 - $600 depending on the size of the load. When they arrived there was only one person and he charged us for a full load because the furniture was not packed well. He also charged us a labor fee because it took him several hours to load the truck, but he should have brought someone to help. We were charged nearly $1000 and were not in a good negotiating position since we needed everything to be out of the apartment by the end of the month. As the others say, these guys rock! Sure: it's more expensive than renting a debris box and filling it yourself, but that's not the point. You call, they show up on time, they're cheerful, and they do the job. Quickly. You're paying for simplicity and professionalism. And, of course, the health of your back! I have used EcoHaul in the past and it was great. But this time so bad. I scheduled 20 days in advance. No one showed up on Friday. I called office twice and left message. Then I called cell number and left message. I even sent an email. Finally someone called me back to tell me truck broke down. Why didnt anyone call me to tell me. I waited around for 2 hours!! He said he would get back to me to reschedule for 31st. I never heard from him so I called back again. He finally called me back to say he couldn't accommodate me. Fridays is the only day they have two guys on the truck. I said this is unacceptable. I will never use them again or recommend them. This was their fault not mine. read more

I had a positive experience with EcoHaul and would use them again. I booked the hauling with Nick, who was very helpful, communicative, and quick to respond to every email. The hauling was done by Don and Deonsay, who were extremely friendly, efficient, and helpful. They arrived within the 2-hour time frame we were told, and the price was in line with the initial estimate I was given. Even though they had to haul a ton of stuff (and disassemble some as well), they were completely done within an hour, which was great. Very professional and friendly from first call to last signature. EcoHaul is time and cost efficient alternative to renting your own truck and paying for dump fees, with the added bonus that your waste will be properly sorted and recycled/reused. I scheduled removal of several items and explained in detail what the items were. When EcoHaul arrived, I was told they could only take 2 items, because the previous stop had alot more items than they had expected. I emailed customer service saying I was disappointed that more was not taken and at the amount I was charged. I was offered $25 off a second trip, with a $150 minimum charge to come back - I didn't even reply. I also was told on the phone that the items (which were in very good condition) would be taken somewhere to be reused vs the landfill. The way they were put on the truck showed no concern for keeping the items in good condition. Very poor communication between the office and the guys that are doing the work of picking up and hauling away. read more

Used EcoHaul to empty out a house that was being put up for sale. I came in from out of town and had one day to get everything done. It was a big job and I made sure EcoHaul understood that up front. Unfortunately they scheduled their guys for a bunch of other jobs on the same day. I begged them to finish it up but instead for about $1800 I got an 85% empty house instead of what I needed, a completely empty house. Lucky for me the other company (you know who they are) has an evening crew that I was able to schedule last minute. BTW to the guys at EcoHaul - I had no choice but to give the rest of your tip to the guys at the company that finished the job. You can thank your inept bosses for that. read more

Eco Haul showed up and took away all my junk from a house I was cleaning up. But I had a few concerns. First, it's probably important that you keep a careful eye on the folks packing the truck. In my experience, I felt that they didn't do a great packing job. They charge based on volume, so it seems in their financial best interest to make inefficient use of space. For instance, we had a few nailed-together wooden stands made of scrap lumber, which would have collapsed if given a strong kick. Instead, they were stood up in the front of the truck, taking up a ton of space. Next, they treated the items they removed pretty callously. For instance, when removing a small white couch which was in very good shape, they placed it on it's back on the ground while deliberating where in the truck to place it, which resulted in the couch becoming wet and gross from recent rain. It would have been a simple matter to simply stand the couch on it's legs instead of laying it on it's back! As another example, I didn't see any attempt to, for instance, keep shelving units we had disassembled together with all their pieces. Behavior like this makes it hard to believe that things are actually getting donated. Finally, I felt that the cleanup was lacking. They seemed reluctant to actually take the random little bits of scrap. We had done a ton of work prior to eco-haul arriving to package up and sort everything in the house for delivery, waste, recycling, etc.., but we still had some loose items. It took a lot of proding to get the haulers to actually take all of the loose items, and some random stuff remained afterwards. Overall, I think it's a useful service, but I struggled with the execution. read more

But seriously, $218 for 10 minutes of labor and disposal of a volume of junk that could fit in the bed of a pickup truck? They said the $99 Yelp voucher would likely cover it on the phone, and when they arrived I was relieved when they said it looked like 1/6 of a load. "So I bought too much with the coupon, but at least it'll be covered," I thought. Then after taking my voucher they asked for the extra $93. We just hired Eco-Haul today to clear away debris from our new condo, where we were demolishing 30 years' of carpet, cabinetry, padding, appliances, and general junk. I reminded myself to make sure to complete a review of EcoHaul. First off I lived in my 80 year old house for over 7 years and decided to move into something more modern. I did NOT want to have the pain of moving all my stuff to my new residence so I did some research over the Internet for a hauling company that was professional and could also donate items. I came across EcoHaul and decided to setup an online appointment. I stressed the fact that I had a lot of cloths, and miscellaneous items that could be donated and or recycled. On the day of service I got a courtesy call advising me that they were in route and when they arrived all I had to do was show Dorian, Ryan, and 2 other guys the items I wanted removed. I was so impressed with their professional and fast removal of my stuff. The price for hauling all the items in my old house was fair and I could not thank them enough for the great job that they did. They cleared the place out in less than 2 hours right in time for lunch. I was able to stay within my budget of $600 for hauling removal . Dan and Max arrived with friendly get-it-done attitudes after calling ahead with a 15 minute notice. Not only did they take away the mattress and box spring, but for a small up charge , also took two other items that we had broken down to try for a long dump run...saved us loads of time, we didn't have to rent a Uhaul, and they're Eco friendly ! I called EcoHaul and they gave me an estimate, scheduled an appointment and sent the kindest guys to come out to do the hauling (Chris and Sam). The dust is just now settling after EcoHaul came and picked up the rest of my stuff. I'm sitting on a makeshift box writing this as all my chairs were taken away! Chris and Sam, their disposal experts were promptly here a little after one today, went over the things I was getting rid of and estimated the cost for hauling it away (3.75 cubic yds cost me $235), reasonable as they are able to recycle up to 85% of the things people get rid of. They donate furniture and clothes to charities too. In roughly 35 minutes they had all my stuff in their truck (wow! forgot to ask if it ran on vegetable oil!) and had me settle the bill. Cool thing, if you mention Yelp, you get a $20 discount!. They take cash, credit cards or check and I would use them again in a second. The owner is Chris Sparks (no relation to me) and they have been doing this for five years now. They have a fleet of three trucks and five guys who go around the Bay Area helping folks like me make the moving transition easier. Great work EcoHaul!! read more

Planned to move son home from CA. to another state. In the process, it was going to cost a huge amount of money to move his stuff, pay to have garbage picked up, get donation trucks there, pay to dispose of computers, TV and beds. I was so stressful trying to figure it out. Then to store his stuff and eventually ship it back when he is ready to go out on his own again! We realized it was cheaper to get rid of everything and start over when he is ready! EcoHaul did it all. They took everything and the guys who did the work were not only super strong, but very professional. This was an amazing process that turned so positively for us. The only caution is to really work to figure out your costs. Ours was much more than planned because I am spatially challenged and did not know how much truck space it would require. Not their fault. This is a great idea, executed shoddily in our case. We had a need to clean out my mom's apartment and donate all the goodies (approximate value: $1500)...with no trash hauling or junk. We really should have done it ourselves, because: * due to lousy weather and traffic, they missed their appointment window. I just sat around...could have done the whole job myself in that time. * they did damage to the goods, so the charity got banged-up stuff rather than really good furniture. * only afterwards were we told that they couldn't get us the receipts we needed, although we'd discussed it twice with them before hand. This service may be really good when there's a lot of junk and trash to dispose of, but for us this was a lose. UPDATE: these guys do deserve credit for doing post-mortem investigation (as discussed in comment below). read more

My girlfriend called these guys and arranged a pickup for the following day. Ecohaul agreed to come from 12-5pm. On said day, she called them multiple times to confirm given she had to miss work and had arranged with her apartment given theres rules and regulations and they cant just go anytime they want, just like most apartments in the Bay Area (Need to reserve elevators, get the apartments office approval for pick up etc.). Guess what? After she confirmed multiple times throughout the day (via phonecall) these guys didn't show up, nor had the decency to at least give her a phonecall to say they wouldn't show up. They just confirmed through the day and when 5pm came they were nowhere to be seen. So she missed work, arranged with her apartment manager, and now has to pay fees because of these guys were a no show. Highly recommend someone else unless you want to be cancelled on the day the way they did my girlfriend and then ghosted on. Finally, we call them at 4:30pm to ask what happened and then they say they wont be able to make it. This is not ok guys, people miss work for this, have to schedule and arrange with apartments (if you are professionals then you should be well aware you cannot just come any time you feel like it, theres rules around this). When we called them, they acted so confused as if they never even talked her nor scheduled anything. I understand things happen and its not a perfect world, its ok to run late, we are humans. If they weren't going to show up at least have the respect to communicate this to your clients so they can manage accordingly, but this company does not care. Its COVID-19 times and look what happened to us when we needed help. Let this be a cautionary tale to any prospect clients. Now she is stuck trying to find another company last minute and paying fees to her landlord. Someone needs to speak up and warn SF residents about the professionalism of Ecohaul. A couple of month ago, I had a window company to replace some windows for us. They were ok so I gave them 3 stars and wrote a review about them (not bad one at all!!) The very next day, the owner of the company somehow tracked me down and came to my house confronting me what I wrote was not accurate and he demand he deserves more stars(what's wrong with 3 stars?!). I was soooo scared!! I told him that that's simply how I felt about the service and I am entitled to my opinion too. He did not take it well and told me that their business is based on reviews and one negative review would hurt the company. I was super scared and wanted him to leave so I told him that I will give him 5stars!! After he left, I got so mad and scared at the same time. He can't intimidate someone like that! I still refused to give him5 stars but since he knows where I live, all I could do was to remove my review from yelp. Since that day, I got scared to write any reviews. Yet, we still need some help to get things done around the house. So this time, I let my husband to pick a company and deal with them. He had to take off from work for that too. (From here, my review for EcoHoul starts, sorry it took so long!!) My husband seriously did a great job on finding EcoHoul. I can't say anything negative about EcoHaul. They are true to their words(unlike other window company:p). Four guys came over and removed all the bricks and concrete within an hour. Thanks to Yelp deals, they ofcourse gladly took promotion coupon and that saved us $50!! (unlike other window company, promotion they mentioned on yelp didn't work!) I was so happy that we found such a decent company like them after what I had to go through!! EcoHaul helped my house lose weight! This is the second time I have used them-easy to schedule, and friendly!! The first time they broke up and took away an old sidewalk from the back, as well as bricks and yard debris and an old bar and stools we had in the basement rotting away. This time they took lots of construction debris, a broken old fashioned heater, metal squashed trash can, old hose and hose winder, gigantic old broken bookshelf and random old heavy broken things. Excellent service. I was going to rent a debris bin to throw several mostly small items from my garage into. I had called around for a few quotes and the averaged around $500 for a 15 cu yard bin. I had read about the horror stories regarding bin rentals of overage costs and low estimates with subsequent extra charges and this concerned me. Plus, living in a town home complex might make things problematic with a bin sitting around for a week. I saw this service on Yelp and liked the recycling and donation services. The two guys showed up promptly and were very pleasant. They got things done in 15 mins. It would have taken me much longer than that myself. They charged me less than the estimate and far less than a similar bin rental. If you are a residential customer and want things recycled, donated or trashed, Ecohaul is the way to go. The labor for loading is included in their price. A bin might make sense for a commercial job site but is expensive and unnecessary for most people. I highly recommend this company and agree with all the positive reviews. I was very happy with the service. read more
