I started at Ecologic Dentistry a few days ago as a new patient with Dr. Yamashiro. When I first walked into the office, I was greeted by a very pleasant and welcoming receptionist. This helped me to feel more comfortable and relaxed! I believe that the front desk "mood" and attitude can set the stage for the entire dental visit in most cases! I did not have to wait very long to be escorted to one of the dental operative rooms by another friendly and welcoming face, who was the dental assistant. Once I was seated, the dental assistant took my BP and temperature and asked a few preliminary questions about the reason for my dental visit. Next, Dr. Yamashiro entered the room, and we discussed my dental background history and the reasons I had come to this office. I had been given a referral by my daughter, who is a patient at this office. She had researched Dr. Yamashiro's philosophy about a comprehensive approach to dentistry, and I was actually delighted to hear about this! I highly recommend that you check out the Ecologic Dentistry website to see all that Dr. Yamashiro offers through her dental care - it truly is from a "comprehensive" dental perspective! In my situation, my main dental concern was a broken, partially missing lower front tooth and a chipped lower front tooth sitting side by side. This had created the appearance of a gaping hole in the front of my lower dental arch, which looked like I had a missing tooth! I had become self-conscious and hesitant to laugh, talk or even smile! Dr. Yamashiro totally restored these broken and missing areas to perfection, in my opinion, and it was a painless experience for me as well! She matched the dental material color to the color of my enamel flawlessly! In addition, there are no signs that there was ever a broken or chipped tooth! Truly amazing work! I think my lower front teeth look better now than when they existed in their original condition before they were broken and chipped! Dr. Yamashiro is a very careful, gentle and kind dentist; however, she takes her work performance seriously and will do the best possible job! I was an RDH for 37 years, so I know a bit about great dentistry, and she definitely gets my 5-star vote of confidence! read more

I wanted to holistic and biologic dentist and I was attempting to get an emergency appointment. They were very booked up and so I left my name and number. I could tell by the woman I was speaking with at the front desk that I probably wasn't going to get a call from them as they had not yet responded to my initial email that I had sent to them a few days prior to that. I'm sure she's a great dentist, but I will never have the chance to know for sure. Just know that getting an appointment is like pulling teeth ;-) and you have to be relentless and proactive in your approach. read more

While I'm a bit disappointed they don't take insurance, I was more than happy with their care for my mother. We lost my father 7 months ago between my parent's visits. I brought my mother to her appointment and they were so kind, offering condolences and saying how much they liked my dad and how much they would miss him. They were very attentive to her and making sure she was comfortable during her cleaning. It was done lickety split and we were on our way to enjoy the rest of our day. Thank you for your caring attitudes. It made it less stressful. And knowing my dad will be missed made me feel less alone and anxious. read more

I had my preliminary exam and paid my deposit of $100. It has now been 3 weeks and I still cannot get anyone to return my calls so that I can pay for my cone-beam scan and get it analyzed. I have left messages and even spoke directly to the office manager who promised to call me on Monday. Monday was 4 days ago. My next step will be to call my credit card company to dispute the charge for my deposit. read more

I just had my first appointment with Ecologic Dentistry yesterday. Dr. Yamashiro confirmed that my fillings are amalgam and went over everything process wise with me. I can't even begin to explain how the difference is in terms of discussing health with a dentist who actually understands wholistic medicine. Night and day as opposed to speaking with a regular dentist. Hey knowledge and kind explanation really soothes my fear. I've had a lot of issues over the course of my life that point to mercury toxicity and am so grateful to have found a place where I can actually feel safe getting them removed. I have a great deal of anxiety when it comes to dentistry or the medical system, and if you struggle with this, look no further! Everyone in the office was wonderful and friendly, and the tech, Elijah was super knowledgeable and informative about things I could do to help with my oral ph levels etc. Sharon, in charge of front desk and scheduling, was super understanding of my anxieties about supplements and very patient with me. The products used are quicksilver, who are the leading edge in mercury products and have much better ingredients than most. Overall, as someone who generally avoids the dentist as much as possible, and who prefers wholistic, mindful practices when it comes to anything to do with the body, I am just really happy with the whole practice here. Really appreciate the care I receive from Dr Yamashiro and the Ecologic team. I started seeing Dr. Yamashiro to get amalgams removed. Was a positive experience. Dr. Yamashiro blew my mind. My jaw never developed fully and my mouth is small and my airways are obstructed which causes many symptoms including breathing from my mouth when I sleep and not getting fully into a rest and digest state. It was recommended that I get a 3D scan of my jaw but also my airways and to pursue an oral appliance that works with frequencies to tell my stem cells my jaw is not done growing and over 1 year to 18 months correct a main contributing cause of always being in fight or flight. I am so grateful this type of option is available today and that I have access. Dr. Yamashiro takes a whole body integrated approach and I found her to be thorough and kind. Came here during summer for a concern with my teeth, Dr. Yamashiro did an excellent job explaining my concern which in turn made me a lot more calm. Came back today for a cleaning. The hygienist cleaned my teeth well and the staff is very friendly. Dr. Yamashiro is thorough when she treats you, and performs preventative exams toward the end of your appt- to make sure everything looks normal. I thought that was neat. My dentist recommended I see a root canal specialist. I did not want a root canal. So I went to Ecologic Dentistry and got some ozone injections. In a matter of days, my tooth was feeling better. I drove 40 min to go here because I wanted to try holistic dentistry, even having to pay cash because they do not accept insurance!. What a crock!!! Ashley was the assistant that did my dental cleaning and I can't say enough good things about her. I'm terrified of anything dental related but she made me feel at ease instantly and I didn't have any issues with fear when I had to return. I just visited Dr. Yamashiro for the first time yesterday. Everyone in the office was friendly and helpful. Dr. Yamashiro gave my teeth a thorough examination, including X-rays. I will be doing a test for my oral microbiome later. Dr. Yamashiro told my about a treatment for sleep apnea, and encouraged me to see an online presentation about it, but there was no pressure. I was seen promptly after I arrived at the office. It helps to have your paperwork done ahead of time. Overall, I was impressed by how smoothly this office is run. This was the first cavity of my 17-year-old, and he was very nervous about getting it filled. Dr. Yamashiro was amazing. Not only did she describe everything they were going to do, but she was also very quick and efficient, and he did not feel any discomfort during the procedure or afterward. I'm not sure who this Yep T is, but I've heard about people like her. I have several dentist as clients that tell me about new patients requesting drugs that they don't need and writing bad reviews if they are refused. In reviewing this comment and others that requested drugs, it's almost the same. It's a shame, but I believe this is what has happened to Dr. Yamashiro. I am a client of Dr. Yamashiro and in no way shape or form is her practice like this. She is a great professional that makes clients feel comfortable and well taken care of. I just went in for a cleaning and had 4 fillings changed from mercury based to a composite. I was AMAZED at how quick and painless this procedure was. Robin cleaned my teeth with such care and kindness, that I was blown away. I have sensitive front teeth that causes pain when a vibration device is used on them. Robin had only seen me once before and remember this. As she cleaned my front teeth, she slowed the device down to help me avoid discomfort. She also did my shots to numb my mouth for the mercury extraction. Foe the fiat tome in history, I finally had someone put the needle into the area that was numbed by the Q Tip swab. THANK YOU ROBIN. As for Dr Yamashiro and her assistant, they where amazing also. In under an hour, they had removed my mercury fillings and replaced them with composite. I felt no pain and they protected me and themselves from the mercury extraction process. Throughout the process Dr Yamashiro checked in with me to make sure I was OK and did it with a true concern for my well being. I can't say enough about this dentist and her entire staff. The only reason I gave her 5 stars is that Yelp does not have more stars to give out. If you are looking for a GREAT Dentist that truly cares about you and your health, go see Dr. Yamashiro. Initial evaluation with Dr. Yamashiro was ok - after a quick look in my mouth, she recommended 3-D images of teeth/airway. Got images done and mailed to her - appointment was scheduled for a phone consultation and the doctor stood me up! I waited by my phone for a half hour - nothing. Finally, I called the office and was told that the doctor was too busy to call me and was currently with another patient. I was astonded at the rudeness! When I questioned why no one called me to let me know the appointment wasn't going to happen, Sharon said, "I'm sorry" and hung up. I am shocked by the disrespect from this dentist office. read more

Going to the dentist always causes me a lot anxiety. I was feeling my usual anxiety leading up to my appointment, since this was my first time at Ecologic Dentistry. From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, my experience was extremely pleasant!! I was greeted warmly by the receptionist, even though I was early and interrupting her lunch. She was very friendly and happily answered all of my questions and never made me feel like I was a bother! In my opinion, she went the extra mile, researching details about my new insurance. The young hygienist was also very friendly, further more calming my anxiety! We had a very pleasant conversation which helped to take my mind off of being at the dentist. Dr Yamashiro was so kind! Just had my semi-annual check-up in January before COVID19 and again this week. They did a great job going to extra steps to protect the patient. Always very gentle in cleaning and great doctor exam pointing out things I need follow up on. They offer services you won't find at a regular dentist office. Well worth it! read more

Monkey must be a good friend of this dentist. The experience I had was so absolutely horrible that my boyfriend and I sat in the car after my "appointment" and laughed at how crazy it was. Firstly, I greeted the receptionist and asked how her day was going so far. She responded with, "Well, not too good. I'm going through a divorce right now, so... you know." What! I mean, who says that? I should have known right there to turn around and leave. But, oh no, I stayed. She gave me some forms to fill out and I sat down. As I'm filling out the paperwork, the receptionist yells several personal questions to me about every 5 minutes until I finally get up and go answer her questions in semi privacy. Then I go back to meet the "dentist". Upon first seeing her I realize she looks nothing like her picture. She's wearing nurse scrub pants, a tee shirt, and bandana tied around her head. Then I realize that it looks like she literally rolled out of bed, threw on the above mentioned cloths that she grabbed out of the dirty laundry bin, and then smoked about $20 worth of weed before coming to work. I go to the dentist chair where the assistant took x-rays and then wait. When the "dentist" arrives she looks at my x-rays for about 1 minute, looks in my mouth for about 1 minute, and then sits the dental chair back up. She explains to me that I have a dental infection. I thought, "yeah, I made the appointment for an abscess, so I already knew that." And waited for her to continue. She then tries to give me a referral to a surgeon to have my wisdom teeth removed, and I just lied and said I already had a surgeon in mind to do that. (Like I'm going to take a referral from her...lol). After that, was a long pause where she just awkwardly stared at me. Then she continued staring. My boyfriend and I just looked at each other and then walked back out to the front office. The receptionist didn't even look up and we walked out the door. I never received a bill for my 15 minute long awkward moment, supposedly called a "dental appointment". And that's great, because I would absolutely refuse to pay it. Luckily, I later found an amazing dentist that took almost 2 hours to go through my intake appointment with him. He was nice, professional, clean, and took the time to really go through my x-rays and exam, his support staff is amazing and friendly, and he will most likely be my dentist for life. If you're thinking about going here... do yourself a favor and DON'T. There are about a million other places I would recommend over this one. read more

I have been very impressed with Dr. Carla and her staff. I have been going to her for the last 2 years and will continue. My first visit I had been away from the dentist for over 2 years and I was a little nervous about a new dentist. My previous one had been professional, but was very imposing and demeanor was brash. The atmosphere in the front office was calming and low key. The technician who called me back was very friendly, asked me about anything that might be hurting or that I was having problems with and then explained what we would be doing for my visit. I had X-rays, a full cleaning and then Dr. Carla came in to review. She was casual in t-shirt and scrubs, but I really liked that after my previous dentist. There was no pretense. Dr. Carla is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and down to earth. She asked a few questions, reviewed the X-rays and then checked my teeth. I walked away feeling very satisfied with my decision to see Dr. Carla and continue to feel that way with each followup appointment. read more

I was lucky to find Dr. Yamashiro when we moved up here from California 13 years ago. I am now 78 years old, I have been to a lot of dentists and I can honestly say that Dr Yamashiro is the best dentist that I have ever had to work on and repair my teeth.
