Had a good impression of this place until the morning after. Realized the bed had no fitted sheets. Weird but ok.... then I put on my clothes for the day and sat in the car. I had these burning sensations on my legs and arms. We stopped at a gas station and I went to the bathroom and realized I was COVERED in bug bites! Bed bugs most likely!! I would rather give this hotel a -5 star rating, prejudiced boogers! The hotel management is completely awful!!! Me, my husband, and dog were displaced by a recent apartment fire (not our unit). We were assisted by the Red Cross with a preloaded MasterCard to get a place to stay for a few days will the damage was assessed and determined if it was habitable. We also have a cat. After sitting in the freezing cold and pouring rain watching the apartments above ours burn to ashes, unsure if our cat or unit were ok, I contacted this horrible establishment. I explained the situation as calmly as possible. I honestly didn't expect sympathy but a tad bit of empathy would be human, nope!the manager heard the word 'cat' and that and he said "we don't accept cats". At that point I didn't know whether our furry friend was alive or weather the unit would be ok enough for him to stay at the house while we were waiting to get the ok to get back in. I got a tad bit upset with the manger saying 'ok well, I guess we'll be finding something else' and I hung up. We wondered round aimlessly after seeing the unit and finding that it was intact and that our cat was alive (terribly frightened but alive), so I was ok with leaving him In our place. We ended up walking to this messed up establishment. I didn't go in the hotel because I was afraid (and I guess I did) that I made a bad impression, and someone needed to be with the dog. My HUSBAND purchased the room, even after the husband and wife working the counter were talking about him In A derogatory manner in Hindi ( this isn't like a white person assuming persons speaking their mother tongue are talking about him, but hearing known words that aren't super professional)and grilling him on having a cat. We didn't have a car and it was pretty obvious that we didn't have a cat with us. They refused a smoking room (which are located in the back) and placed us next to the office. When we tried the door key it didn't work. We were done! It was a long afternoon. They said they redunded the Red Cross finds (ps these are federal funds that YOU and I donate through donations and pay towards in local and federal taxes). We ended up at the Days Inn which I would highly recommend, they were extremely accommodating with the situation and totally human without being phony. The funds weren't back on the card. Thankfully I had enough in my bank account to purchase 2 Days. I contacted Econolodge in the morning. They were extremely unhelpful, stating that they never charged us. As I'm looking at the online statement with three charges from them. Never did they explain the time frame of a return. Just that I need to call us bank. I was not happy and I wasn't polite (they most certainly weren't either). This morning (3 Days later) I called again and explained that they still had not sent the money back. I was able to get a receipt emailed (with not cancelation information). Contacted us bank. Oh, they can Reverse the charges from the Econolodge within 1 to 2 hours if they faxed some very simple information on a business letter head. I contacted this horrible hotel again and apologized for losing my cool (although I never cursed or called them names) but I did raise my voice and played the 'can you put yourself in my shoes'. The manager said he absolutely would not do it. He said that they don't do that and that began yelling at me over the phone.l, stating that we needed to call the bank again and that it was my problem. I again broke it down, THESE are RELIEF FUNDS! We weren't checking in to party, we weren't lying about the cat. And that this experience has added so much addition stress to our already stressful situation. He finally agreed to at least fax over what he had stating that they reversed the charges (which can take 31 Days to make it back in to the card. Cool cause I'm out of funds on my personal card, and now we're having to check out of the hotel with no exit plan). I give him the number, "this number isn't working". Yeah I'm sure buddy. I asked for supervisors info, I was told that he doesn't have one and that the hotel isn't accountable to anyone but him. I told him that he was low just making a conscious choice to kick someone when they were already down, and hung up. I looked it up, they're owned by CHOICE hotels. LIAR!!!!!! I contacted them and explained the situation. I was then cold transferred to the line for the hotel. No warning. No explanation. So I gave up and went to work ( hour late, thanks could you screw me over any more? Seriously.....) thankfully we were allowed to go back to our place. Thank goodness! I'm sorry Econolodge, that you've had issues with unhoused folks. I'm sorry that you have problems with gay people. Sorry that you visually judged us, thin white folks with more alternative style, tattoos and piercings must make us seriously bad people. read more

Not very pleasant experience. My friend and I booked a bedroom for two people. We arrived there late at night, the weather super cold, to find out they wont give us a two bed room, but one with one king bed. The lady in the reception wouldn't even let us in, but talk to us thru the window. She didnt help us with the only one bed situation and insisted we should contact hotwire if we wanted to change. When we arrived to the bedroom door, the key wont open the door. We had to wait in the cold for someone to come and change us to another room. This new room was fine, but the pillows were super uncomfortable and the sink wouldn't flush properly (water would accumulate and take forever to drain), the same with the toilet. read more

Kicked out because THEY messed up. We booked a room for 3 nights and the morning after the first night we get a call at 8am from the manager saying they're overbooked and we might have to move rooms or leave the hotel for the third night. As in they're kicking us out because they messed up the bookings. Come the second day we get another call saying we need to be out by 11 and the manager didn't seem to feel bad at all. She was chipper and happy as she told us we're essentially without a place to stay in a town at least 1000 miles from home. There was no finding us another room, no compensation, just a "refund" and judging by the other yelp reviews I have little hope. Screw this place I went two hotels down the street and got another place for only a few bucks more. Only reason it even gets 1 star is because the room was fine. But all in all not worth it. Never in my life have I been treated to poorly. On a Wednesday, I became aware of a necessary last minute trip to my mothers home in Redding. Because my paycheck wouldn't be available until Fri, my mother reserved the room in my name. So we make the drive, only to find out that not only will they not rent to us because either of the 4 forms of ID are acceptable, but also because we didn't have a credit card to have on file for incidentals. Standard practice, yea. My frustration was that when working the front desk in a much nicer hostel than an econo lodge the amount for which you charged the guest was not concrete. You could also turn off some of the amenities that would usually allows a guest to run up such a high incidentals bills. We did it all time to keep customers happy and likely to return. In the event that we were unable to, we most certainly didn't treat said customers like they were scum on the bottom of our shoes. Thanks but no thanks, econo lodge! read more

The General Manager's name is Gita Patel (ph number 541-342-7273). I have been to all 50 States - yep - love me some road trips and find myself in many unexpected areas of the country - awesome! Not the Econo Lodge in Eugene, OR - they did not take care of the issue - instead the manager became demonstrative and dug her heels in to make the situation even worse. Now - I know...the "customer is always right" motto never made sense to me. I've been in the hotel / restaurant hospitality industry for over 30 years - and I have seen most of the time the customer is almost always wrong...but we have to smile and make the situation right, correct? I checked into a room with a lumpy old BLOOD STAINED pillow. Now - not wanting to contract any diseases, I brought the pillow to the poor little girl at the Front Desk, and she had to ask manager (Gita Patel) if she could switch rooms for me. I interrupted and said: "You don't need to ask for permission to do this - I WILL NOT be sleeping in this room." Gawd forbid if there's blood on a pillow, what else, right? Our second room had BLACK MOLD in the shower area and no secure door equipment (just some old wood parts). I got back to my room late at night, didn't see the disgusting shower situation until the morning, barely got any sleep, and checked out around 5:00 am (not soon enough)! Knowing the over-night person will probably not be able to adjust my bill (I asked) she said to contact the manager for any refunds. I sent an email to Gita Patel (econolodge@jrhhospitality.com) - no answer. I called the motel after I returned home and personally spoke with the General Manager - and this is what I got after asking for a refund for my stay ($59.67): Gita Patel: "You requested a first-floor room after we assigned you a second-floor room when that wasn't good enough." Gita Patel: "Why didn't you tell us about the mold in your bathroom as soon as you checked in?" Gita Patel: "For someone who just encountered blood in their room - I assume checking over the room would have been the first thing you would have done - why didn't you?" Gita Patel: "Why didn't you tell us about the door lock earlier?" Gita Patel: "You are just looking for something for free!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?!!!!!!! I said: "Are you tasking me (the client, the guest) with the responsibility to ensure the room is adequate for someone to check into? Isn't that for a housekeeper, or supervisor, or manager to do?" "You can't be proud of these rooms? This is not your best foot forward, is it? The Econo Lodge can't allow this type of service, can they? You've got to be embarrassed? Help me fix this." "All I want is my money back." Side note: Sometimes when dealing with upset customers, it's hard to tell exactly what they want to fix the problem. In this case - I asked for the exact thing that would fix this: $59.67. Just refund my stay. That's all. Pretty simple. Instead what I got from Gita Patel was: Gita Patel: "You're just trying to get something for free. Good luck!" And she hung up on me. Wow?! Yikes?! Not what I expect from a business. This is NOT the place to stay. The staff was nice, but had a tough situation to deal with: no phones working in the rooms and no internet at all! (Sorry, in this day that is totally unexceptable). Minimal water pressure, breakfast non existent (minimal), 1 coat hanger in the room. Ugh! read more

Wish I could give a negative star on this motel. Horrible customer service. Snotty, unprofessional and condescending, are the best words to describe the women who answered the phone. We booked a room for my sister-in-law, who is going through really tough times due to the impact on employment, due to the COVID. I booked a room by calling the telephone number 855-516-1092, on 11-30-20. Reservation was confirmed. When my sister-in-law got to the motel, she was asked for a credit card, which we had given the credit number when we booked the room, for any/all charges. My Sister-in-law does't have a credit card, hence, us paying for the room. Unfortunately, we didn't get the name of the woman working at the hotel on 11/30/2020 around 7:00pm. That woman said that she could not let her in the room, until we filled out a credit card authorization form "she could email the form to me" and I explained I am out of town and don't have access to a printer. I told her forget it, just cancel the room and I would get my sister-in-law another room, in a different hotel. The woman said she couldn't give us refund, that we have to call the number we had called earlier to book the room. Absolutely nothing she can do. I can see now why the previous reviews to this hotel are 1 or 2. This motel really needs to give some training on customer service and cleanliness. How is this motel still in business? A responsible manager, who has any pride in this business, needs to do a surprise, undercover visit to this motel. I bet they'll be in for surprise themselves. read more

Worst hotel stay I've ever had! I came down to Eugene on the 30th of july and stayed til the 31rst for my daughters orientation and registration at U of O. I had my sister in-law book a room for me last minute and regret every minute of it. The bed spread looked as if hadn't been washed judging from the stains and soil marks all over it and hair. Because of how sketch it looked I put down towels from the bathroom and a comforter id brought from home as to not make direct contact with the bed itself and still woke up with horrible bed bug bites all over my arms, legs back and feet! I've never itched so bad in my life! scheduling a doctors visit today to have these bites checked out and to confirm if there bed bug bites. In the morning I noticed on the floor near the bed drops of dried blood like someone had been in the room shooting up. I'd asked the front desk attendant and owner before checking into the room if it had been thoroughly cleaned as it wasn't ready when i arrived and would be an hour and half wait because the cleaners were supposedly cleaning it still. Do yourself a favor if this is the only motel in town available SLEEP IN YOUR CAR! read more

I have never been treated so horrible. My husband and I stay at this hotel every time we come to town, which is pretty often. All of the sudden they are charging a pet deposit even if you have no pets. We had no pets with us and the lady still wanted to charge us. We finally agreed to accept the unreasonable fee and then she tells us that she wants a 300 dollar deposit. When we asked why she said it was "discretionary." We just drove with our two children all the way from California to visit family. It's 2am and we're exhausted and this awful woman wants to charge any unreasonable fee she can come up with. It's not like this hotel is nice by any means either. It's a crappy cheap motel. Nobody in their right mind would put down a 300 dollar deposit to stay in a hotel of this caliber. FLEAS, DIRT AND NO REMORSE! When I called the front desk five minutes after checking in to inform them that there were fleas jumping on me, I expected them to say "oh dear, how awful!" Instead they said "we have a no pets policy." They moved me to another room and five minutes later I found crusty stains on the bathmat. They brought me fresh towels and feigned to believe that solved the problem - really? Because if your maid can overlook that, what else was overlooked? There were also crusty stains in the upholstered desk chair. The folks at the Econolodge 800 number were neither impressed nor sorry, and the folks at http://Hotels.com were immediately defensive saying "we guarantee you a room, we don't guarantee the condition." When we got in the room,it smelled nice and it was clean.However, there was not to much space to put our luggage without avoiding the bathroom. Finally we settled by the sink not in the bathroom and next to the AC/heater. The sink next to the bathroom was great use. But when I went the bathroom I noticed the mirror was chipped around the edges. The shower had some pieces missing and the water was spaying so all separately.Plus,you to push Really hard shut off the water.The TV was fine but remote required you to push REALLY hard.The bed was really comfortable and I was asleep in no time.Their breakfast was good and checkout was so easy.I most likely will come again when I visit Eugene. read more

Im left with a profound feeling of WTF after our extremely short visit to this hotel. We were in our room a grand total of 2 hours before discovering bed bugs. We immediarley bagged our things and caught a couple of the little intruders in a plastic cup to show management. Upon speaking to the supposed night manager we were told it isnt their policy to offer refunds which is all we asked for. She offered us a different room. When we refused, because quite frankly we were worried about what else we would find, she tried to give us simple green and wash clothes so we could clean up the room. ..... Simple green!? k. I went online to "hotwire.com" and resurved a room for me and my son, paid online with a debit card. When I got there the lady wanted $200 for "incidental damages" from my debit card before she would give me a room. I told her no and that I have no problem going else where but she needs to pay me $54 that has been taken from my account. She told me no that I need to take it up with "hotwire". I told her no you need to put on the Web site that you want $200 extra and that this is not only my problem but our problem, hers and mine. That is when she started to call the police. Stay somewhere else and avoid being ripped off. I would have give it a rating of 0 stars but yelp insists on at least one star but why? I mean that I got no service/room, I got charged $54 and threatened with the police if I did not leave, which is what I wanted to do but with my money. Lady at the office very rude, unfriendly. Called 5 min before arriving at the hotel for a room which they apparently booked within those 5 minutes. They told me $70 for a two bed room on the phone. BED BUGS!!!!! We stayed here one night for the Deftones concert at the amphitheater. When we woke up we noticed there was blood on the sheets and saw a bug crawl into the mattress (they don't put fitted sheets on the bed so the flat sheet you sleep atop moved off). As far as prices go in Eugene, this was the best price (even compared to Motel 6 and much, much better). The motel had been recently remodeled and was clean & comfortable. The furniture was definitely nicer than what you usually see in motels in this price range. The people who run it are also friendly. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in Eugene. read more

My expectations aren't that high for such a cheapo room like this one, but my boyfriend and I had a bizarre experience here to say the least. If you have a little extra for a different hotel I suggest you go there. At around 8am my boyfriend and I had the manager's husband walk in on our room that we had paid for to stay in the previous night after a concert at cuthbert. Both of us butt naked were passed out in bed and we heard the door open. My boyfriend said "no" multiple times to let him hear there are people in the room. There was a pause and he continued to walk in the room, towards our bed where we were laying. He stood staring at us confused saying "you checkout"? Abviously there had been confusion but he stood there until we stated "no we haven't obviously checked out". He left hurridly but had no care for our privacy what so ever. The manager, his wife was quite rude with her appology and blamed us for it. No refund, no care, and bad business. The most bizarre hotel experience ever. To top it off, when we were leaving, we confronted the man who did this and stated, "if you are in this industry, when you are walking in a room with customers in it saying "no please" multiple times, you don't walk up to the bed they are sleeping standing there staring dumbfounded. He didn't have much to say and smirked at us freakily.....So that's my experience and I never write reviews about businesses. I feel compelled that people should know about this experience, though. The manager also just told us that her "staff" wouldn't make that mistake. My brother in law and sister (whom we split the room with) called the manager after we spoke to her and found out it was her husband who did this. BAD business. read more
