We decided on a quick trip to Foley on Thanksgiving Day (2024). We wanted to see what deals the Tanger Outlet had for Black Friday . Econo Lodge is conveniently located across the street. We really liked our room as it offered the essentials (refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher) we needed to enjoy our Thanksgiving meal to be able to warm up food and refrigerate leftovers. The bed was nice and comfortable and the overall room was clean to our satisfaction. We were also able to grab free breakfast after our early morning shopping. This hotel does deserve the 3 star average rating that it has at the time of this writing. It seems like maybe there were some issues in the past but everything has been corrected and then some. I had an amazing stay - reception was top notch, room was clean and updated, and the breakfast was clean and plentiful. They accommodated a request I had upon checking out and they also had fresh baked cookies everyday. What? Yes, free cookies. Everyday I went down and got my daily cookie. We stayed for 3 nights. We went to Owa and this hotel is super close! There were a lot of people in the pool the first night not as many the second. The rooms are very clean and nice! I interacted with two different front desk employees and both were great and super enthusiastic! They give out free "freshly baked cookies" and we took at least 15 over the whole stay. Their breakfast consisted of sausage, eggs, and a cool pancake machine that makes it for you. They also had cereal, yogurt, and oatmeal. This place is awesome. We also lost our keys and the front desk was very understanding... both times. I highly recommend this place! read more

If you are staying in this area, this is the best Inn with the best rate we found in March of 2015. We were pleased to check into here AFTER staying at 2 other motels (1 night each), then they increased the rates substantially for their weekend nights. This place was cheaper prior to the weekend as well as during a weekend stay. It isn't only about price! We got an equal or better breakfast offering and amenities as the other 2 motels. So, why not stay here? The staff we talked to were friendly and helpful! The lobby & dining area is clean and inviting. They earned a 97 on their health grade. Our room was comfortable and the shower was really nice! There's also a mini-fridge and microwave in the room. For your comfort, there is a chair & ottoman to relax in. I did like the flat screen TV, too! I was very happy that they even give you free WiFi! They have an outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi. Parking is free and there are plenty of spots! The complimentary breakfast included cold cereals & oatmeal, breads & bagels, pastries, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee & juice. There is a waffle maker & batter to make your own waffle fresh! There is a brochure rack where you can find things of interest while in the area. This EconoLodge is directly across the street from the Tanger Outlet Stores. For the price, amenities, and convenience, this is the choice place to stay! This was an interesting stay. I typically like staying with Econo-Lodge Hotels, but this time was different. It started well with a very courteous front desk clerk. She was not able to give me a room early but that was ok, she let me know about the area and where to go to waste some time. Upon return, at 4:10 pm (check in was at 4 pm), there were 3 of us waiting at the front desk and none of the rooms were ready. You might need to consider hiring an actual staff to clean the rooms. We got to the room and found a very dirty room to greet us. The room was very outdated with paint on the walls from the 1980s and then we went into the bathroom to find multiple tiles missing on the wall of the shower (all we saw was the dried glue behind the tiles). The tub was also dirty, we decided to skip the shower. The ceiling was also needing some repair. Finally the mini-fridge was missing a leg and beat to hell with dents. We ended up paying $106 for 1 night, which I know for the area is good but not worth the conditions of the hotel. We will definitely be returning to the area but not to this hotel. read more

This is by far the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. And for the price, it's even more outrageous. So, we've got the COVID pandemic going on, and I'm by no means a Karen who is screaming at ppl for not wearing masks, but to see all these corporations put out their "feel-good" statements of how they are working overtime to keep things clean- it's hilarious how disgusting this place is. There was literally mold on the furniture, stains on the bed and holes in walls. Any positive reviews on this place have got to be fake. Thank god we were only here for one night while waiting to get into beach house. read more

Stayed there on 3/9/24. Motel is totally renovated! Our room was pristine, clean and beautiful. The pool was new too and very pretty. The breakfast was not that great (very salty and the cook was very slow to replace empty bins) but it was hot and there was a touchless pancake machine, cereal, and oatmeal. Location is next to lots of restaurants and across the street from the outlet mall. Will definitely stay there again! read more

I recently had a 4 night stay at the Econo Lodge in Foley,AL. I had stayed 4 years ago and decided to try it again, as it was pretty decent. I arrived 6/22 and found out it had gone way downhill. I was so disappointed and uncomfortable in the room that I canceled the rest of my stay and found a new hotel. There were questionable people outside the hotel. The doors were all banged up and peeling paint. The air conditioner was filthy, furniture was old and damaged, holes in blankets and curtains, severe water damage in the bathroom, etc. I know it's a motel style chain but this was unacceptable for $94 plus tax, plus a $25 pet fee. I felt like I was in a pay by the hour motel. It saddened me that people heading to what is a major vacation area are being lead to believe this is a decent hotel or even a clean motel. read more

There were roaches in the room. The pool is green. And my daughter got to witness someone getting brutally beat up in the parking lot. Really bad fight. Several men standing guard watching. People climbing on cars shouting and screaming at midnight. No police. Told the front desk "they got evicted" okay cool but like my daughter shouldn't have to see that kind of stuff on a family vacation. And if there's roaches in my room they're probably everywhere. Oh. And people just casually walking around smoking weed. There's probably still a "roach" on the stairs. 0/5 if I could. Horrible experience read more

Just checked out of our 3 night stay. The room was nasty. There was grit all over the floor and in the bed. There was hair on the floor of the bathroom. There were bugs on the ceiling and I woke up with bites on me. The trash cans were overflowing at the pool and the water smelled so bad in the hot tub we immediately got out. The A/C was so loud it woke us up every time it turned on and the bed was incredibly hard. For $110 per night we could have stayed in a nicer hotel but everything was booked by the time we checked in and saw the state of the room, so we were stuck there for the entirety of our trip. read more

So far I'm not impressed at the least little bit, they said check in was at Four(4) pm. And I couldn't get a king bed for the two(2) days I'm gonna be here. Kinda messed up on their part, the way their treating a Veteran and a driver. So had to settle for a less than average room. They did say check with them around 230 pm, that was a bust!! Not a terrible hotel - good value, room was well-appointed and clean. This is a thoroughly lower-middle-class family hotel. Mostly people from the surrounding hinterlands hitting Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for a week (take it from a coastal native: use sunblock people! I'm sick of seeing your lobster backs ambling about the parking lot) or less. The hotel receptionist was friendly and helpful, and pointed out what looked like a decent breakfast area with waffle maker and so forth, but we ate at nearby restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Cracker Barrel. The sole Starbucks in the immediate area is directly across the highway at Tanger Outlets. Speaking of which, Tanger Outlets is there close by if you're into cheap imported garments. There are elevators and the rooms, in motel fashion, open up onto breezeways facing the parking lot. Room itself was nice. We got stuck with a two-bed room as there were no non-smoking kings, but no big deal. We paid well under $100 /night, and this in the high season. Great buy for the time period. The room was very nice, the toiletries were there, NO bed bugs, always appreciated. Never used the TV, but an ironing board and hangers that were NOT attached were present. Classy! ONLY problem: We would not have stayed for a third night in that room. On night #2, we entered a room that was bizarrely wet. Everything felt just *slightly* damp. Maybe something to do with the AC? It appeared to be working fine. It was gross, and made it kinda hard to sleep on the sticky sheets. All-in-all, that was probably an isolated issue. Bottom line: for bargain conscious guests, this is a solid option for the area, ESPECIALLY if you are, as we were, there to visit Foley specifically, and not the beaches some miles south. read more

When I first entered it had a weird smell but I tried to ignore it for one night. When I laid in bed I started to start itching and realized they had bed bugs and they were biting me. This hotel was great. It has one of the best continental breakfasts that I have seen and just about any hotel. It was a good price and much better than all the hotels of equal or lesser value with more to offer. One of the best things other than the breakfast is that the pool does not close until 11pm. My negatives for this place is that our ac was vary loud and that our comforter had a lot of stains on it. So I mean you can take that how you may. All and all I recommend this place it's cheap and provides a good amount of amenities. read more

Just got back from a three night stay at this hotel. Older outside that could use a good power washing and paint job. Rooms are updated and clean. No carpet on floors . Love that! Breakfast was really good and more selection than typical economy hotel. Pool was very nice. Staff were all very friendly. We will definitely stay at property again. read more

Room was overall decent. Price was perfect for me. No sign of bedbugs. Floor was wood vinyl felt like it needed a serious cleaning. It was dirty. Barefeet was black walking in room. Yuck !!! I recently visited this establishment on vacation. $490 for 3 days. Where do I start.....the HD tv was fuzzy, I called the front desk and were told the maintenance man wouldn't be available until the next day. Water damage on the ceiling. Tub holds water and sand that was fun, Not! The water was not hot. Don't expect a hot shower here. The hot tub had so much chorine in it that our eyes were burning and had to get out. The maintenance man showed up on our last night and could not fix it. The front desk (Janet) lied and said there wouldn't be a manager on duty until Monday (the day after my vacation ended). It was the most affordable hotel with breakfast and not to far from the beaches . The location is good because is about 9 miles from Orange Beach and across the street of an outlet. The breakfast was just ok, very basic , and the second day we even didn't bother having it there . The second night which was Friday had very loud guests laughing and talking loud in the hallways. The floor is as "new" but pretty dirty.. I never took my socks off. The bathroom was tiny tiny tiny and pretty nasty. I opted out of a shower hoping for a cleaner hotel at our next stop. my favorite place to stay when heading to the gulf shores. Great staff, nice rooms, new HDTVs, very clean w/o that funky carpet deodorizer smell. Nice continental breakfast and most of all comfy beds and silence so you sleep like a baby.( I guess it depends where you wind up) I always try for a ground floor room because of my arthritic leg. Booked a room through Priceline to stay here. Arrived to beds that were awful. The springs were just about sticking through. This was in four different rooms. Also had black spots on the ceiling. The lady at the desk was very kind and said they were getting new beds in a couple of months. I was able to get a refund and move to another hotel. This is a good economy hotel. I've stayed here a couple of times now, and I've been pleased with the cleanliness of the facility and the rooms. Good for an economy property. Plentiful parking, and they even get ESPN U on the TV channel lineup, so I could watch NCAA Hockey! Pretty good for Alabama!! Downsides include thin walls that allow noise to travel easily. Ok, I gave it 4 stars and a butler wont be greeting you at the door. Yet, for what we purchased we got great service last Fri. evening! Sat. morning, after a great breakfast that was included, we went to the pool. I told them at the desk that a few flying bugs had gotten into the water, and within 2 minutes they were out there skimmiing the pool. We weren't in a suite, just a room, but it still had a refrigerator, and a microwave. Wee knew what we were getting, and I would have no problem staying there again. read more
