So I'm on my way home and decided to stop for the night instead of driving 6 more hours and getting home at 2am. Google maps said there is an Econo lodge up ahead and was $70 so I said okay. The clerk said the price was $89 but decided to give it to me for $85. She said that was not their price but the website price. She said she only had 1 rm left and it was a smoking room but I figured with the A/C on it would be okay for 1 night. The room was neat but on close inspection the covers had burn holes and stains but sheets appeared clean. The towels felt a bit damp and appeared dirty as if no soap or bleach was used yet and still they are not serving breakfast due to COVID. I also found a bug of some sort crawling on the bathroom shower curtain and public hairs here and there. The TV is quite small but there is a small fridge and tiny microwave. By the way, upon pulling up and entering my room there are people standing outside talking and smoking pot. I'm tired and still going to bed. The A/C is cranking and I am thankful for that. read more

I came for the week from out of town for work. First we asked for a room with 2 beds and was told only 2 people in a room (3 of us, idk why it mattered). I've never been told that in any hotel. Then we asked to stay until Friday and was told the hotel was totally booked and had to get a hotel somewhere else. The room was clean, no items were left behind by housekeeping, housekeeping was helpful no issues when I needed items replaced they were on it. The fridge did need to be plugged in when we arrived. This was a decent hotel to stay in when passing through town for a few days. When leaving they kept knocking on the door and calling 15 minutes prior to leave. read more

Stayed here while passing through. Glad we only stayed one night. The blankets were covered in someone else's hair, brown fingerprint stains on the bathroom door, dirty floor... only redeeming quality was the easy on and off the highway and close proximity to a gas station. Skip this place if you can, but it'll do in a pinch. read more

This should be a zero star. On 08/29/22 my parents, my daughter, and I needed a place to stay for one night on our way to Nashville, TN. Having traveled all day, we checked in at 7:40pm, played with my 1-year-old daughter outside for some time, then began unpacking our car. We had a significant amount of luggage because we traveled from the East Coast. However, while unpacking we noticed the room is extremely small, there was extensive floor damage, the bathtub did not have a stopper so we could not bathe my child, there was used toothpaste all over the shower curtain and bathroom wall, the walls of the main room were covered in unknown substances, it was bug infested, and my parents had a cockroach in their room. Knowing the dangers of a cockroach infestation, we immediately began packing our things back into the car and returned our room keys to the front desk at 8:20pm. We confirmed our check-in time with the desk clerk, she specifically confirmed to both me and my father that we were there for a total of 40 minutes. Ten of those minutes were spent in the actual room. We let her know that we could not stay in a dirty, pest filled room with a toddler, especially one located next to an abandoned building with people coming in and out of the woods next door. It was not only filthy, it was dangerous. I took photos of the rooms and we filed two requests with Agoda (the booking company) to waive the room charges, as we did not stay there. While mine is pending and being escalated, my parent's was denied because the hotel is BLATANTLY lying, telling the booking company that we were there for two hours. This could not possibly be an error, this is a LIE. This morning I outreached to the property to get our official check-in time for 08/29 because that is in their system, and not something they can fabricate. I have an email with my request to waive the hotel fees timestamped that same day at 8:23pm, evidence that we were there for 40 minutes maximum. The hotel clerk told me I was a "smartass," and hung up on me. Each time I or my parents tried to call back to get the check-in time she hung up on us, before eventually threatening us, saying she'd call the police and telling us to "come back to Kingsport," which was an obvious physical threat. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, the first clerk we dealt with is a liar. It makes sense that the second would be a psychopath. I have contacted Agoda and Choice Hotels (the chain supporting the Econo Lodge) and they are escalating in every way possible. I have no faith that our money will be returned because there is no shred of "customer service" to be found with any of these entities because the hotel is independently owned and operated by thieves, but I am leaving reviews to ensure nobody else endures the abuse we have. This hotel is not COVID safe, as it is clearly not cleaned. Word to the wise - DO NOT STAY HERE. Not only was the 40 minutes we were there a nightmare, but the aftermath trying to deal with their "customer service" has been a nightmare. Expect to be sworn at, hung up on, and threatened. If you value your safety and health, stay FAR away. And if the owner or a representative from this property comments on this review saying they will "try to do better" and are "so sorry we did not exceed expectations," know that's a lie, too. The people they have at the front desk are rude and inconsiderate, they block requests for LEGITIMATE refunds, and are only in it for the money. If they were in it for the customers, they'd treat them better. read more

We paid over $200 to stay here in room 101. It was pretty clean and had a mini fridge... But the noise. There was a private resident room above ours and they stomped around ALL NIGHT LONG! As a result we woke up constantly. I remember looking at the clock at 1:30am and wondering if they would ever go to bed. When we checked out in the morning we told the front desk about it and they apologized that they were having a party! A party??? Really??? Never again. If your looking to get some sleep, room 101 is not the room to stay in. read more

My name is Gabriel Camarillo and I was in the Kingsport, TN area March 8, 2019, and needed a room to stay. Cold and Raining I checked into the Econo Lodge and the agent was able to get me a room. I should have listened to instincts, when she gave me the room card key. For what ever reason the door was not reading the card and after the 3rd return to the desk she decided to give me another room that was available. Tired and cold and wet I just turned off the lights and passed out. The next day I kept hearing a tapping coming from the wall. I would try and locate the sound but it would stop when I got near. This happened for hours after realizing that underneath the sink near the p-trap there was a rather unusual large hole around the plumbing. I was in shock that you could see from one room to the other! The angle of where the hole was located, you had complete view of the room and bed! So I go and I stuff the hole with a towel only to find it hours later pushed back out and I would hear the tapping again! I call the desk and speak with the Owners daughter of the Franchise they spoke perfect English. She said she would have one of the managers speak to me. Looking for him on the property it was the managers brother who came to the room, all of a sudden he didn't speak any english!?? I explained and pointed out the complaint and situation and he shrugged his shoulders. I went to the Desk and explained that I was very uncomfortable about my experience and she didn't seem to care. She smiled as if it was funny to her about how I felt. I told her that it shouldn't matter if it was a women or man complaining about this and should take it serious. I told her that I was not staying the remainder of my stay and that I would be going to the La Quinta across the highway. She asked let me just give you another room! I declined and asked for a complete refund which I have yet to receive. I have been in contact for weeks about my stay with there Customer Relations. I have spoken to numerous people at the Choice Hotels corporate office and not going to stop until my money is returned! I have called and waited on hold for a few hours of my month to find resolve to this issue! I am currently on hold with Henry one of the managers who dropped the call and now again I am calling back for him! I want to see this complaint investigated and resolved! This isn't how anyone should be treated and I want EVERY DOLLAR refunded! read more

This is a budget hotel and really no frills here. My husband and I were traveling and landed upon here when we were dead tired and needed a place to stay. It was easy to check in and check out. Our room was standard and clean. It looked like they had attempted to do some updates to the room. read more

Have stayed here every August during race week. Has always been a solid 3-star experience ... until 2013. Major improvements, including the addition of microwaves, mini refrigerators, and irons with ironing boards. New furnitire plus a flat screen TV and new granite counter tops and shower surround make this an easy 4 on he Yelp scale. Great facility for the price and the event. read more

This place is a good value. One of the cheapest hotels in the area, our nonsmoking king room was clean if not particularly updated. The bed was quite comfortable and we didn't have any noise issues. There was a minifridge, and a decent continental breakfast is available 6-9am. The hot water was somewhat inconsistent for part of the shower but overall was fine, and the towels were utilitarian. My husband and I are driving from Staten Island to California. After the long day I was exhausted and cranky. But as soon as I walked in this motel room, I was amazed. Everything is clean and nice. The room has everything you need. So at the end of the day it was really nice to take a bath, watch TV and get some sleep on a very comfortable bed. read more

I honestly wish I could just rate housekeeping, she was so pleasant and downright delightful! Wish I could say the same for the desk help. Upon checkout the women was completely useless and rude! My traveling companion dealt with a man the night before that wasn't any better and they yelled at people for taking the last waffle at breakfast?!? Maybe if the cleaning women worked the desk we'd be back but with such a lack of customer service that will never happen. read more

We had picked up one of the hotel books. The owner honored the price, we came in at 11pm and left at 7am. Just need a place to sleep with a dog in tow. The room was clean, sheets clean no stains, bathroom clean. The room was a pet room and it did not smell like a pet room, which was really nice! We didn't eat breakfast, as we just wanted to get back on the road. read more

accidentally booked a night here. simply hit the wrong button. usually no big deal, but the lady who runs the econolodge in kingsport tn, decided she would not refund any of my money, even though i was not even in the same city, and all she had to do is simply understand it was an honest mistake, and do the right thing. instead keeping 50 dollars that they in no way earned is more important. not the kind of integrity i would expect out of a corporate hotel chain. read more
