This should be a zero star. On 08/29/22 my parents, my daughter, and I needed a place to stay for one night on our way to Nashville, TN. Having traveled all day, we checked in at 7:40pm, played with my 1-year-old daughter outside for some time, then began unpacking our car. We had a significant amount of luggage because we traveled from the East Coast. However, while unpacking we noticed the room is extremely small, there was extensive floor damage, the bathtub did not have a stopper so we could not bathe my child, there was used toothpaste all over the shower curtain and bathroom wall, the walls of the main room were covered in unknown substances, it was bug infested, and my parents had a cockroach in their room. Knowing the dangers of a cockroach infestation, we immediately began packing our things back into the car and returned our room keys to the front desk at 8:20pm. We confirmed our check-in time with the desk clerk, she specifically confirmed to both me and my father that we were there for a total of 40 minutes. Ten of those minutes were spent in the actual room. We let her know that we could not stay in a dirty, pest filled room with a toddler, especially one located next to an abandoned building with people coming in and out of the woods next door. It was not only filthy, it was dangerous. I took photos of the rooms and we filed two requests with Agoda (the booking company) to waive the room charges, as we did not stay there. While mine is pending and being escalated, my parent's was denied because the hotel is BLATANTLY lying, telling the booking company that we were there for two hours. This could not possibly be an error, this is a LIE. This morning I outreached to the property to get our official check-in time for 08/29 because that is in their system, and not something they can fabricate. I have an email with my request to waive the hotel fees timestamped that same day at 8:23pm, evidence that we were there for 40 minutes maximum. The hotel clerk told me I was a "smartass," and hung up on me. Each time I or my parents tried to call back to get the check-in time she hung up on us, before eventually threatening us, saying she'd call the police and telling us to "come back to Kingsport," which was an obvious physical threat. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised, the first clerk we dealt with is a liar. It makes sense that the second would be a psychopath. I have contacted Agoda and Choice Hotels (the chain supporting the Econo Lodge) and they are escalating in every way possible. I have no faith that our money will be returned because there is no shred of "customer service" to be found with any of these entities because the hotel is independently owned and operated by thieves, but I am leaving reviews to ensure nobody else endures the abuse we have. This hotel is not COVID safe, as it is clearly not cleaned. Word to the wise - DO NOT STAY HERE. Not only was the 40 minutes we were there a nightmare, but the aftermath trying to deal with their "customer service" has been a nightmare. Expect to be sworn at, hung up on, and threatened. If you value your safety and health, stay FAR away. And if the owner or a representative from this property comments on this review saying they will "try to do better" and are "so sorry we did not exceed expectations," know that's a lie, too. The people they have at the front desk are rude and inconsiderate, they block requests for LEGITIMATE refunds, and are only in it for the money. If they were in it for the customers, they'd treat them better.

Enough so that it's my main hotel wherever I visit Kingsport. Location - 5 out of 5 - beautiful views of the mountains but also easy access to the highways. There are restaurants and fast food nearby if needed. The building - 4 out of 5 - well maintained and clean. The rooms have reasonable wear but were in good condition. Comfort - 3 out of 5 - about what you would expect from a hotel bed and pillows. The room I stayed in this time (415) was rather large which was nice. Room amenities - 4 out of 5 - basic amenities such as microwave, fridge, coffee, and basic toiletries. What I really liked was the number of outlets. A total of about 10 in the room and 2 on each side of the bed. Also had basic USB in at least 3 of them (no USB-C). Though I didn't use either, they do have a pool and gym. Service - 3 out of 5 - everyone that I came into contact with was friendly, but then again I didn't come into contact with many people. Food - 3 out of 5 - basic breakfast food, nothing flashy. Always have hot options as well as cereal, yogurt, fruit. They switch up the hot options for those staying longer than a night. If visiting Kingsport, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Parking is free in the lot, which was surprising and appreciated. We checked in very late on a Thursday. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, if not very forthcoming with the information (such as, one of the guest elevators was shut down for "renovations", which left only one normal elevator for the entire hotel. They allowed guests to use the service elevator if the other was too busy, but that wasn't mentioned on check-in. Neither was the fact that parking was free and available anywhere, or the housekeeping schedule.) The room was large and comfortable, and mostly clean. We had a view out onto the golf course, and could tell that the side we were on was popular with birds...the evidence was splattered all over the windows. The bed was cozy, but I had to block the alarm clock's display with the TV remote because it would reset its dimness level (I turned it off before turning out the lights) in the middle of the night. We didn't take advantage of any of the room service or in-hotel dining options, but the lounge was always busy and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The lobby was clean and bright, with lots of spots to sit and lounge. Also a bonus that the hotel is pet-friendly.

Located adjacent to Dollar General and residential space, its a little tucked away and off the road at an awkward angle in between E. Stone Drive and Lynn Garden. When you exit Stone, you have to make a sharp U-turn almost into the Dollar General parking lot to access Super 8. The room itself isn't bad. Its not new, yet not terribly old. You can tell that the furniture is slightly dated. I stayed on the second floor within the rear of the property, which allowed for greater privacy. There is plenty of parking, and the WiFi speed was good. Breakfast is pretty much coffee, juice, waffles, cereal and toast/cinnamon bun items. The rate was reasonable at $65. Given its location and the winter storms that shut down access into both Bristol and Johnson City, I considered the room rate to be good at the times of my stay. I greatly appreciated the customer service given by the employees, in addition to the GM, Mr. Jeff Pecor. He really looks out for the guests. While he has staff that completes regular housekeeping & night audit duties, it was welcoming to see him assist his staff members by shoveling snow while also engaging guests in a friendly manner. One very professional GM that I appreciate. Overall, I would rate this property a 3.5, yet Yelp won't let me do that. I hope that they could get a few more breakfast items rather than having the bare minimum continental breakfast standards. The rooms aren't bad, yet could be better. While there are other hotel/motel options further down the road (i.e, Red Roof Inn) as well as into Kingsport, this Super 8 is an okay option if you want to stay close to the main hospital area (1 mile away) as well as main shopping access that you would find on E.
