On March 3, 2026, they met me at the PODS facility in Marlboro, NY and loaded my 2 pods into 2 large trucks in a snowstorm, kept most things dry, and they did not break anything despite it being very slippery out. They then brought our stuff up to Catskill and loaded it into our house, and this was not an easy move, yet they remained cheerful and upbeat, even taking a bunch of heavy things up to the attic. This was a very difficult day for them and they responded like the professionals they are. I would hire them again in a second if I ever need to, and I highly recommend them for your moving needs. This men bust a gut to help you. Problem. 2 hour window. Plan well, and you will have your things moved at a fraction of even renting a truck! I am so thankful for their hard work, kindly service, sure a bit "manly" in language (I don't mean swearing!) as they should be hauling that much of your things to a secure safety unit, new home, rental. Incompetent. Completely underestimated my move. Had his employees using their personal cars. Complained constantly saying I had too much stuff. What?! We had a very large 2 day move with many pieces of large furniture and many sets of stairs, and these guys handled it all seamlessly and for a very reasonable price. They worked tirelessly to get it all done, and made it look easy in the process, while remaining on schedule and on budget. Jim even swept out my storage unit for me, and his crew helped a random elderly gentleman move some large items from his trailer into his storage unit, which I thought showed a lot of integrity. The best movers I've worked with. They cheerfully carried all my possessions down three flights of stairs, and everything that wasn't boxed was wrapped and handled with great care. They packed it carefully in my storage unit. In addition to the wrapping and plenty of moving blankets, they keep containers in the truck for awkwardly shaped, smaller items. They finished a little earlier than expected, and charged $200 less than the estimate. I will certainly call them when it's time to move to the new house. I couldn't have been happier! read more

We were referred to Economy Movers by a number of people who had good experiences with them in a local Facebook Group. Being a skeptical consumer of any service-based company, in this case a bit more due to the fact that they would have hands on all our earthly possessions, we were anxious. We reached out to learn more and had the luck of connecting with Jim on our first call. Jim's demeanor and approach immediately put us at ease. Jim was receptive and understanding to our concerns/questions and was clearly someone that understood how to accommodate a client's need... The day before the move Jim reached out to make sure we were ready for the move and to make sure we had thought about where we wanted furniture to land in the new place; which would make things go a lot quicker and more efficiently from everyone's side. Day of the move - Jim and three coworkers showed up. Luckily Jim's 30+ years in this space left him aware that my move was not as "small" as I indicated it would be and that having more people would allow for us to take point A and bring it to Point B in a timely fashion. The moving crew included Jim, Bob, Austin, and another Jim. I guess it says something that I knew everyone's name before the move was over and that I still remember everyone's name days later. Probably most important is sensitivity and customer service in a service-based space like this; they had it! Everyone was on time, friendly and most important to us... a highly experienced mover that moved with precision. One person moved to the King-size beds so they could be disassembled, 500lb dressers were 'pivoted' just right to get down the bendy staircase, etc. All while everything was done with meticulous attention to detail in a safe and cautious manner - the way you'd move your own family heirloom furniture if you had to do so yourself. Jim's team put stuff into the truck as if it was a game of advanced Tetris and positioned things so that my 'little move' could all fit into the truck. To boot, Economy Movers had boxes with braces on them for things we didn't package but should have due to time running out, they had cushions, blankets, etc. So yea, at the end of the day, Economy Movers was receptive from the onset, punctual on the day of our move, and efficient and amazing in moving our belongings from one location to another. The name also says a lot about a major concern anyone moving may have... cost. They were economically at the lower end in way of cost from what others I know have paid when their experience in the industry and reputation could have easily warranted a higher tab. Jim and his team are a no-nonsense provider of moving services that appreciate the situation your in and want to make sure that runs as smoothly as possible - to avoid adding more stress to the already stressful nature of moving. Meaning he was glad to have a job. Of the two others, besides complaining one of them kept hitting on my daughter. Also the price quoted was raised by three hundred dollars. We recently hired Jim Thorne of Economy Movers to move us from an apartment into our condo. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were uncertain if they would be able to move us on our scheduled date. We were anxious to move before the Sunday, 8:00 pm deadline that the governor decreed regarding essential business. We called Jim on the Friday before the work stoppage and he moved us that Sunday. Worst moving experience I've ever had in my life. Jim was in such a rush that he forgot to take my television off of the truck and I didn't realize it until the Verizon technician got here so he had to wait to do the installation until it could be brought back. While I was waiting I noticed that one of the drawers under my bed wasn't closing all the way and when he brought the television back I asked Jim if he could figure out why since it was closing properly before they dismantled it. He fiddled with it for a minute then said he had to go/didn't know why it wouldn't shut. The next day I called him to tell him that I couldn't get the drawer shut myself and asked him if he could come back to see what was wrong. He gave me a day, I took a day off from work and he texted me at the last minute to tell me he couldn't make it. I couldn't take another day off for a while and finally gave up on having the drawer work. I discovered a few weeks later that the foot board was coming loose from the side board and some of the screws that hold the slats under the mattress were MISSING. I finally asked the Superintendent in my apartment complex to fix it for me. Very disappointing. read more

They did stuff that was above and beyond what was expected and they charged much less than their competitors. They are awesome! They gave an honest estimate that was still well below the prices other movers gave. They moved us completely in one day in under four hours. They put everything where we needed it and never made us feel like they didn't want to help or like they were wasting time. The job would've taken use twice as long to do ourselves. The truck was clean and they took extra special care with furniture and any box that I labeled as fragile. Nothing got dinged, broken, or scuffed. We used economy movers last year. We had another unprofessional mover A-Z from poughkeepsie scheduled, (beware) who didn't return our calls, so our storage facility recommended this company instead. It was difficult getting in touch with Jim initially, However, we were pressed for time. His crew was quick, and friendly, reasonably priced. They pointed out the damages A-Z did to our furniture, which we appreciated. Because our move went well, we called them again for this move. We were given appt. for an estimate. Jim gave us a window of 1-3. We called his number at 3:30, when no one came & nobody called until 4 p.m. His stepson Brandon called and said he'd be there at 4:30. We arranged our day according to previous time frame. We told him, someone should have had the courtesy to let us know they were running late. He said Jim just called him. We rescheduled for the next day. We had a doctor appt. and told him we'd be available after 4:30. Early the next morning I called and left a message that the appointment was canceled and we'd be valible earlier in the day and to please call us and let us know if they could make it earlier. Nobody returned our call. Brandon called us for 4:15 while we were food shopping. He said he never got the message.This young kid Brandon showed up At 4:30. He did not look in the closets to see how much we would have to move, he was in sure about the price, did not mention anything about traveling fee, additional insurance, and seemed pretty detached and inexperienced. I expressed our concerns about not receiving timely phone calls. He stated, that Jim is a nice guy however, he does not know why he does not give out his cell phone, and he's not great with customer service. He also said that Jim is the only one allowed to drive. So now my husband & my question is, if something would happen to Jim the day of our move who would transport our belongings to our new home? Brandon said he was not sure of how much this would cost or how many men they would need and that Jim would call uss that evening with an accurate estimate. We never received a call from Jim that night or any time since. Even if he did not want to do the move, the professional thing would have been to at least call. Apparently this moving company has ample jobs and they don't need the money. I would not recommend them based on their unprofessionalism. Needless to say, we found a mover, more professional, we are confident they'll do a better job. Especially with communication! read more

After getting a $2,000 supposedly itemized estimate from a name-brand mover in my area, to move less than the contents of my small, 3-bedroom house, I contacted Economy Movers. Even charging me for the 1 1/2 hour drive to & from my home from their location, in addition to the packing & moving time, 2 men & a truck were able to accomplish my move for under $1,000. The 2 men were very professional, using multiple packing blankets & boxes to protect my belonging as I would; there was absolutely no damage to anything! They were polite, patient, & helpful--everything I could have hoped for in a decidedly stressful situation. They, successfully, moved a monster treadmill for me, without complaint, even though it required taking it partially apart! Before they left my new home, they insured that treadmill, computer, & TV all worked. They positioned furniture & treadmill to my liking, even making suggestions on the arrangement of the living room furniture, to maximize my living space. They were, absolutely, great! I've used Economy Movers for two in-town moves and they've done a great job both times. They arrived on time and got the job done very quickly. I don't have any priceless furniture or possessions but they were appropriately careful with everything they moved. One difference between Economy Movers and other companies is that Economy has a 2 hour minimum while others have 4 or 4.5 hour minimums, so you know you aren't going to overpay on time. And on both of my moves the crews worked very quickly (they didn't needlessly add time). A great value and a great experience both times. read more
