First they couldn't find the address, so I instructed them, when they got there they never knocked on the door and left, the equivalent of Never showing up, then didn't answer the phone. Then about an hour later text me about how he got pulled over by Town of Newburgh PD who went through his car and accused him of doing things he never does, I checked THEY NEVER DID!!! Idiot. I was warned that someone got burned by him in the past. I wish I would've checked yelp first. Stuck in a situation where no one I know was available to help me move I called Marvel Movers last minute. They arrived at my home within 45 minutes of my initial call. Loading the truck with the utmost care to my belongings and professionalism. All the men were kind and courteous to myself and my 5 small children making me feel at ease during the entire day. Upon arriving at my new home I was blown away at the speed the truck was unloaded at and how careful and efficient they all were while placing my furniture in the according room. My experience was beyond amazing and I will recommend Marvel Movers many times over in the future as well as calling them again when I need them! read more

Believe the bad reviews. We had used them once before, and they were great. They worked for our friends once before, and they were great then, too. So we didn't have much reason to doubt things would go fine this time around. After agreeing to meet with us for our recent move, my wife confirmed the day before that everything was good to go. "Yes, confirmed," came the text. The next day, they were 20 minutes late when my wife texted them, asking what the deal was. (First red flag.) We were told they'd be closer to two hours late. (Major red flag.) Two hours late? That's insane, but it almost seemed pleasant when an hour later, we were told that the owner couldn't get in touch with their "lead guy" who "had the equipment." So they "had to cancel." How do you even have a business if you can't get it together well enough to simply show up? Excuses don't matter--especially excuses as weak as those. IF YOU ARE A MOVER YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP. It's the one thing you absolutely have to do. You can't just shrug it off like it's a sleepy jam session with your friends. Unbelievable. Later on, the guy said he'd show up to help by himself, because he felt bad that he "left us hanging." But by that point we'd already contacted friends to help us. I'm sure that would have been great, by the way--working side by side with this guy who completely flaked on our move and left us scrambling to do the job. No thanks. I signed up for Yelp just to warn people about these folks, because our experience was a complete disaster. Look at the other reviews--they either do a good job, or they don't show up at all. Hired "Mike" aka marvel movers to move some furniture into my brand new townhouse. The day of the move they texted me two hours before they were supposed to arrive to inform me that they were stuck at a job and they were going to send their "sister crew" over to do the move. I tried to call them back because I had expressed concern when first speaking to "mike" on whether the move would be a problem for them seeing as though the furniture was large and heavy and the stairs would be a challenge to navigate. He assured me had had many years of experience and that the move would be no problem. However he did not answer the phone call or call back. His "sister crew" then contacted me and said they would arrive soon. Upon arrival they began moving my futniture and it became obvious that this move was way over their head. The two men struggled and argued with each other the entire move. Upon completion the furniture did make it into my bedroom, but not without damage done to my brand new walls, railing, moldings and wood floor. I have made several attempts to arrange for "Mike" aka Marvel movers to compensate me for the cost of fixing the damage to my home. At first I was assured through text that they would "make it right" and pay for the damage. Then I was directed to the owner of their sister company to have him take care of the damage. Dealing with him was nothing short of a nightmare so I contacted "marvel movers". Once again I was assured that they would take care of me 100 percent. I have not only sent them pictures of the damage, I also gave them the opportunity to come and see the damage themselves. They never made an attempt to see the damage and at this point I have had all the damage fixed. Once I was told that I would get a call the following day and that they would come over to "settle up". The day came and went without any correspondence. When I asked what had happened the answer was that they are very busy. Now their stance is that I am "harassing" them and that they are not responsible for the damage done. Would have given them zero stars, but yelp doesn't have that option. Hope this review helps you avoid what I've had to go through. ******* Just wanted to respond to the comments posted by Marvel Movers. 1) I contacted marvel Movers the day after the move to tell them about the damage. Not 2 days. 2) The damage done was documented and sent in picture form to Marvel Movers. It was their choice not to come and see the damage for themselves in person. 3) I had the assistant construction manager for my builder fix the damage. I certainly am not going to allow just anyone to fix the damage of a Brand New Home. He did do me a favor by doing it for only $200 (seeing as though it would have cost at least triple that if I went through each sub contractor that originally did the work) but we are not "buddies" or "friends". I explained to Mike that because it was being done as a favor I could give him a detailed receipt, but it would not be a formal receipt from the company. His answer to this was "You will be taken care of. No need for stupid bill". 4) A few days ago Mike sent me a picture of myself that he had pulled from my facebook page and stated he wanted to know where he could find this gentleman to "serve him". I took that as a threat and suggested he be very careful because that "gentleman" works in law enforcement. That is the ONLY TIME and in the ONLY CONTEXT that my job has ever been referenced. 5) Telling someone you are sending your sister crew to do a job is NOT referring them. By using the term "sister" it illustrates a professional relationship/partnership between you and them. Only after there was a problem were the movers explained as a completely separate company. I want to say that I appreciate that Mike has presented a public written apology, an intent to pay for the damages, and well wishes for the holiday for my wife and I. However, doing this after presenting "issues" that are untrue diminishes the sincerity. I will be sure to post when and if Mike keeps his word and pays for the damages. Ridiculous to label this business a company!! Wish I would have read reviews as I normally do.I am giving one star for his two sons they were professional and showed good mannerisms, which mike the owner/ father was very much lacking. So first off, I set up the the move with the owner mike for 8:30am, we left off that if there were any changes we would contact one another. On July 1,2015 he sends a text a 8:30am (the day & time of the move) and states "good morning, marvel movers will be arriving at your location at 10am today... What the??? I wAs puzzled!! I sent a text and explained that I was confused as to why that would that would be, being that we were set for 8:30 am& I didn't receive a call about any changes, plus my landlord wanted me out early. He didn't respond to the first text or the second one. I then proceeded to call. Didn't answer first call or second call. However, by the second call I got a response which read : we had a late nite& I don't need any flack stop calling me or I will cancel, it's 10am or nothing ! I just wanted to use all sorts of profanity towards him, unfortunately my back was up against the wall it was the first of July and my landlord was not gonna give me more time.SO, I had I to suck it up. I said wow, all I wanted was an explanation& fine I will see you at 10am. He did say he would take 10% off for tardiness. Now, he text at 10:15 apologizing & that GPS said 10mins, they finally arrived at 10:30. Here's how it went: they worked for two hours and took lunch at 12:30 they took a half hour. How do you show up 2 1/2 hours late, work for 2hours then go on lunch? Who does that? Apparently, only very unprofessional people. He was not going to cover my expensive bedroom furniture with padding either , I had to request that. Oh, let's not forget that he was cursing loudly at his two young sons& they were being very careful, they worked very hard which is why we gave them a $50 tip each& they were very happy! I am thankful that nothing was broken!! Now, for the grand finally he quoted $65 an hour and 10% off for my disability, when It was all said and done 7 hrs later he tried to charge $75 an hour with the discount being applied. I said over the phone it was $65 per hour, he claimed the rates must have went up after I booked. I said he had to honor the $65 per hour. He agreed... Then I stated it should be 20% off (10 for the disability& 10 for tardiness) His response: if I give that much off I won't make any money. I says and if you set one time and show up when ever you want you will loose money as well because you will loose customers. He tries to justify the situation by saying but I called to inform you! Yeah right dude, you called to inform me when you should have been there& was more rude then that doctor "house" you know from the series! Well, I said this is what have to give, he got his price but basically no real tip, I paid what I was prepared to pay . At the end of day he had to take it or leave it. In closing, applause to his two young sons&BOO TO MIKE! I would not use his company again regardless of how much I can save! Mike needs some lessons on being a true business man! They are not closed. They are still open actually. But they close their facebook and yelp sites just to avoid getting bad reviews. They are still working through craigslist and other ways. Needless to say .. they texted 7 hours before the move saying cant come. No decency to at least call and inform even though they were aware that the truck is already rented. read more

I took over a week to think on my experience with Marvel Movers and the owner, Mike, before deciding to put my review online. I had a similar experience as Jason S and sure wish I had read this before moving forward in hiring Mike & Marvel Movers. I engaged Mike on a Monday for a Friday move. We agreed on 1:00/1:30 as the move in time to accommodate the closing on my home. I called Mike to confirm this on Thursday night after driving 36 hours cross country only to be told he would probably be a bit late as he would need to wait on a 4th man because of ONE heavy piece of furniture I own. I told Mike that I would have no cell service in the area and so I would be at the house waiting for him. I had to drive to a nearby hill top to get reception after Mike didn't show. I then got a text saying that he would be able to come around 5. He then asked if I still needed him. REALLY?? It was just me and my 69 year old dad with a 22 Ft truck to unload in a town where we know no one. YES, I NEED HELP, which is why I hired you! Then, Mike said they were on their way. They showed at 7:15. By this time, after a nice temperate day, it was dark and RAINING! Mike especially showed no regard for my belongings as they came off the truck. He carried things upside down so that items were falling out of bins, he "man handled" many pieces of furniture leaving horrible marks and damage. He berated his employees for things that he was doing (like tracking mud onto my white carpet, being careless with items, etc.) This pattern of taking no ownership of his own mistakes culminated in a very bad ending to the night. At 10:30, still in the rain, the men finally moved in the ONE large and heavy armoire I had. It was going into a tight bedroom and the door had to be taken off the hinge. Mike dropped a screw into a nearby personal work bag lying on the floor. Instead of asking me to find the screw amidst my personal belongings, Mike took my bag into another room, pulled all my stuff out including my laptop and put things anywhere he wanted and found the screw leaving all of my stuff strewn about with no care. But the real breaking point was that when they were moving the armoire into the room, Mike himself ripped my brand new, just minutes out of the plastic top mattress. Mike knew he had done it. It was personally witnessed by my Dad, but when I asked him about it, he AGAIN took no ownership for his carelessness but said "I didn't pack your truck. I don't know how that got there." I was dumbfounded at this response and told him it had just come out of the plastic and that I personally had seen it was undamaged. As he and his men were leaving the house, I slammed the door in frustration to discuss with my Dad the payment options as even though they were 6+ hours late, were rough with my belongings, I felt sad for them being tired, hungry and wet and was going to give them near a 100% tip before this final incident. Mike heard the door slam and lost his mind. He started yelling at me through the window and telling me that he would call the cops on me if I didn't pay. I NEVER said or even indicated that I wasn't going to pay. I was just frustrated after a very long day and relying on strangers. When I went to their car to pay, I asked Mike what kind of business he was running. He said a "5 Star Business." He then wrote me a "receipt" on a piece of notebook paper which will not go over well with my Accountant. Mike then wanted to make things "right" with the bed. He offered to bring a tailor by to sew the mattress. He said he would come at 5:00 the following day, Saturday. That was 9 days ago. Mike has never shown. Mike is an abusive person who can't take ownership of his mistakes or that he took another job on Friday morning making him late to his commitment to me, but wouldn't own up to that and tried to blame my one armoire as the reason he was 6 hours late waiting on a 4th man. I wouldn't recommend Mike or Marvel Movers to anyone. Let me be clear that the issue is with the owner, Mike, and the owner alone. The gentlemen he brought to do the job, were fantastic, including his son Chris. They were polite, hard working and courteous of my belongings, home and my family. I hate to write something like this especially directed at a person, but this is a service business and it was an abusive situation where I felt bullied, belittled and given the worst customer service known to man. read more

I was moving from Michigan to New York, and they did not show up for the job. I called to set up an appointment, then they called to confirm the appointment two days before moving day. On the day of the move they did not show up. I called them several times and they never answered or call me back. Do not use them!!! read more

I called to schedule unloading help a week in advance. The guy who answered the phone said they would send 4 guys to help us. They were supposed to be there at 1pm and never showed up. I called several times and my call went straight to voice mail. The next day I received a call from them. They guy said "Um yeah I received a missed call from this number". When I explained that they were supposed help me unload the day before he said "oh sorry". He sounded hungover or stoned both times I talked to him. I'm glad they didn't show up because I wouldn't want them touching my belongings. read more

They handled a difficult move (from a 3-story large house downscale into a smaller house, including attics & basement) in record time and were flexible and professional in every aspect of our move.
