So I had three bids done, and this guy from Anoka was the best. He wasn't the cheapest, but he explained why...he used the best fan system (and put it in the best place for my needs). There is a huge difference between putting a fan near my well-used patio where I would hear it all the time (and putting it in a better, more out-of-the-way place by the garbage can...where we don't hang out). And there is a difference between putting the hole in the center of the basement (as opposed to just putting the hole where it is convenient for the installer). And, of course, using a good fan. I knew nothing about radon, but this guy (Jesse), does. And here is the good part of the story. Tonight, TWO YEARS later, on a Sunday night, I notice that the fan isn't running (but I had noticed it was running a couple weeks ago). So I look at the indicator, and the indicator says zero. There is a small sign telling me that if the indicator is zero, I should call the company (Jesse), and so I did. Jesse takes the call and talks me thorough the problem (the. outdoor circuit breaker on the outlet was tripped...I just had to push a button). This was no big deal for Jesse (because it was a simple fix), but it was a HUGE deal to me. I have a need for safety, security, and not futzing around with things, so I felt a pit in my stomach when I had found. that there was a problem...but boom, I called the number next to the indicator, Jesse walked me through it, and now I just feel a great sense of relief and can get on with my life, like normal. We hired EcoHandyman to install a radon mitigation system, new crawlspace vapor barrier, and…read moreinsulation in our home's crawlspace. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would recommend their services. EcoHandyman was the most expensive of the bids we received, but we felt the quality materials and work justified the price for our primary residence. They used a thick 12 mil crawlspace vapor barrier, reinforced to 15 mil under stored items, exceeding the flimsier 6 mil plastic typically used by cheaper contractors. The radon system components were high quality and installed properly for energy efficiency and performance. Throughout the project, communication was clear and all crew members conducted themselves professionally in our home. They kept us informed during each step and were thoughtful about protecting our space during the messy crawlspace work. Most importantly, the crawlspace improvements have drastically reduced winter radon levels from over 8 pCi/L to around 1 pCi/L now. The vapor barrier and added insulation also seem to make the floor noticeably warmer this winter. The overall experience gives us confidence that the work was done right. While the price was high, we felt it was fair for the quality and expertise. For any major crawlspace or radon work needed in the future, EcoHandyman will be at the top of our list to call again.

Beware of the extra charges from this company. I purchased a new home and per the inspection, one…read moreof the items that the sellers agreed to take care of was to have a radon system installed. Radon Safety LLC quoted the sellers $1398.00 for the installation. I received the check at closing for the work to be completed. When the radon company tech came out, he said it would be an additional $300.00 because he had to hire another company to core a hole in my foundation. He then had to make a call to coordinate with the other company to set up another appt when they were both available. I had to take another day off of work, but they both showed up and the job was completed in about 2 hrs. At the very least, they should have requested what type of foundation the home had before quoting the work. I called the office to tell them they should honor the quote, and I was told by Amanda that the extra cost was "unavoidable". It was ABSOLUTELY AVOIDABLE had they quoted the job accurately! Not happy that I had to pay the added charge out of my pocket when I could have received the entire amount from the sellers. Beware of the extra charges from this company.

Fast forward to September, I called and Holly scheduled me an install for two weeks later. The installer, Alejandro showed up right when I expected him between 8 and 9 AM. He could not have been kinder and asked me where I would like the system set up and let me know it was going to take about four hours to complete the job. Post install, we were left with a radon tester and were told to give them a call if we experienced any issues (such as the system making a loud noise). I followed up with Holly later in the day and settled up my balance and she emailed me the warranty. From start to finish this company delivered...
