I can't say enough about the quality of Ecujimo's work. He recovered my sofa, and also made arm covers and throw pillows. They all fit perfectly, with excellent details in the stitching and cording. Ecujimo himself is incredibly friendly and patient as I searched through fabric swatches and made my decisions regarding seat and back pillows. Olger Moreno of Ecujimo has been doing superb upholstery work for me ever since he opened his shop in Brookline in 2022. Olger just completed a large reupholstering job for our new home: 18 chairs, 1 stool, 6 throw pillows of varying sizes and a bolster. Ten of these pieces he had upholstered for a prior home in different fabrics---they held up perfectly, but we wanted a different look in our new home. Furthermore, 2 chairs, 2 stools and 5 throw pillows that he had previously done for us are in our new home too. The math tells the whole story. I can't say enough about Ecujimo Upholstery and Olger. From our first interaction to this evening when he delivered our beautiful couch, he has been responsive, friendly, thoughtful with his advice, and just a lovely human being. That said, his work is also remarkable - Olger is a true master of his craft. When he reupholstered our kitchen stools he lined up the striped fabric across all three. He tightened screws, touched up paint, and these 20 some year old stools look like brand new. Our couch is beautiful! I generally am not one to bother with reviews, but my experience with this place, and Olger's service, let me to create a Yelp account just for this. My wife and I have an Ekornes couch and matching Chair/Ottoman that we purchased 10 years ago. We should have gone with leather, but decided on microfiber because it was substantially cheaper. Well, it didn't hold up that well, but we love the design of the furniture so much, we decided to see if we could get it re-upholstered in leather. Enter Olger and Ecujimo' Upholstery. First of all, Olger had a book of leather samples, but suggested that we could get a much better deal by purchasing the leather ourselves and giving us some suggestions. Indeed, we did that and got some great leather at a fraction of what it would have been purchasing from Olger. I really had modest expectations for this project. We really loved how the fabric was stitched, and pretty much wanted the same in leather, but weren't sure he'd be able to match it. Well, he did, and then some. What the other reviewers say about his excellent attention to detail is correct. He actually improved on the design by reshaping the couch cushions a bit, and the work he did is of extremely high quality. We now have a good-as new couch and chair! As other reviewers noted, it does take some time to get a project slotted in, since he is so popular, and our project ended up being delayed by a week, but it wasn't really an issue for us. Just something to be aware of. In the end, we ended up paying him a bit *more* than he asked for the project because we were so impressed. read more

We had a family heirloom furniture made of rosewood from two decades ago which came with loose cushions. The cushions and the fabric broke down over time. We had Ecujimo design new cushions with new fabric (chosen from his catalog). His attention to detail is incredible. His new cushions with custom covers fit our old furniture better than the original cushions that it came with. For instance, he noticed that there was a slight asymmetry in the furniture which he used to his advantage. He also added a rope (?) like embellishment to the cushions which added intrigue to the design. He is very friendly and hard working. He does take a bit of time to do the work. For instance, we had to wait over a month for the delivery but what comes out is perfection. You cannot go wrong with him. A great local artisan to have in Brookline. read more

I found a gem when I found Ecujimo and it was 1/3 mile from my house! I had brought in a beaten down chaise, with the material, and with expectations that were not very high. What I picked-up was a gorgeous piece - stripes painstakingly matched and an extra pillow (totally unexpected freebee) - delivered free to my house. Next, I brought him a wacky project for a headboard and he "nailed it". Olger saved me extra yardage, and still the stripes lined-up perfectly (I guess that I like stripes...) Olger has also produced outdoor seating upholstery, which I had priced at Frugal Fannie's, at a fraction of their estimate. I called to find out how much it would cost to reupholster my chair. The man who answered asked me to email him photos of the chair, which I did the very same day. I did not hear back after a few days so I called and left a message. I did not hear back again so I emailed asking for a return call to let me know either way if he was going to do the work for me. I didn't think they had shops like this anymore - a place that does excellent work, faster than the original time estimate, at a reasonable price and by the nicest guy, Olger, that you can imagine. Olger even talked me out of what would have been a very expensive and, it turns out, unnecessary refinishing job on the rocking chair I brought to him. He touched up the the finish, tightened up all he joints, repaired some splits in the wood, replaced the decades-old cushion and reupholstered it. The chair looks beautiful. I was not going to review. I came to this site to find out Olger's name so I could tell my brother. Then I saw the two poor reviews and I had to respond. Both complain Ecujimo' Upholstery didn't do the work and one complains that family members write the reviews. Well, I am not a family member. I've met Olger three times: when I dropped the first chair off (June 2017), when I dropped the second chair off (October 2017), and when I picked them both up (November 2017). The first time he was candid that he was all backed up. Then I was laissez-faire in getting back to him with the second chair. When I did, he had both chairs ready in a month. Fabulous job. My mother's chairs, which she bought several decades ago, look like new. All new material, all new padding and they have a perkiness they didn't have before. He even made fitted arm rest covers which a lot of companies have stopped making. Very pleasant man who did as he said he would. My mother is thrilled, and so are my siblings! Wish I could include before & after photos-the work Ecujimo did is that incredible! I can't imagine giving this company a bad review. I first met them when I went into their old location to compliment the GORGEOUS work they do. Everything in the windows always looked amazing. I have an antique high-back chair that was my great-grandmother's. It is well over 100 years old. Not only had the fabric worn down, but the wood legs were scratched and the springs were gone. I emailed photos of the chair to Ecujimo, and they walked me through how much fabric to purchase, and what they could do to repair it. The project took about 6-8 weeks but was worth it. When they delivered my chair yesterday I couldn't believe it. The wood legs were perfect, the seat (springs) were repaired, and could readily support anyone. And the workmanship was beautiful. They even went through the extra trouble of perfectly matching up the fabric pattern on both sides of the chair to create symmetry. You can tell they have a lot of pride and passion for what they do. Very highly recommend: professional, kind, caring, and excellent skills. read more
