This place is not good. The floor was rotten in the room. If you stepped in the wrong place there was two to three inches of give in the floor. The plumbing was bad - when the people in the adjoining room cleaned out, we could smell it. There was a pool party one of the days we were there and there was a human poop on the sidewalk leading up to the pool. With all that the "host" asked for a tip in cash or by writing a credit card number on an envelope on the dresser in our room. Ed's place was exactly what we were looking for on our first trip to Fort Lauderdale. The location is perfect for walking around Wilton Manors, with plenty of restaurants, bars, etc. within a short walk. When we first arrived, Ed greeted us with shots and delicious, gooey, freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies. The rooms are very small and a bit basic as noted by other reviewers, but we were so rarely in them that I didn't mind. Our room had an outdoor shower which was a fun touch, especially if you like iguanas! The resort area with the pool and hot tub is fantastic: plenty of shade, outdoor showers, lawn chairs and hammocks, and with a small number of guests it feels very intimate and homey. We were so happy with the resort that we didn't even try to go to the beach. I would definitely stay at Ed's again. It's a great place for a single guy, couples, or even a small group of friends. read more

Just finished a week stay. First let's look at the pros. Great location, walking distance from the restaurants and bars. Nice warm pool and comfortable yard area. Rooms are clean and friendly staff. Cons: Rooms are very very small. The pictures on the internet show much larger rooms and we're probably taken many years ago. My room the king pool suite picture was taken before the room was downsized to add another unit. The complex is old 1950s houses with amateur renovations. Basically an old whore with a new dress. The complex is decorated in tacky flea market stuff. There is nowhere in the room to easily unpack or work out of your suitcase and barely any water pressure when the neighbors are using their shower. There were nice eye candy to enjoy around the pool and guests were friendly, owner very friendly and was always offering vodka slots or drinks. The rooms across the street were even smaller. No refunds are offered, only credit for a stay. If possible, I would highly recommend checking out the room in person before booking. The picturing the internet definitely needs to be updated. read more

This place is the best guest house in the area. Located 1/2 block off Wilton drive, this tropical oasis resort has a hands on owner who checks on his guests and offers complimentary drinks. The owner has selected a staff to serve, clean and maintain the resort, each one nice than the one before. It feels like you have a home right here off the drive. Wow, I am so impressed. - Two short blocks from Hunters and Java Boys - Lovely shaded pool with a comfy hammock - Very comfortable and tasteful rooms, with lots of snacks and treats - Nice, thick towels - Easy parking - Charming staff and Ed himself is on premises and delightful - One small minus - it was hard to position a lounge chair out of the direct sunlight. I believe ED LUGO would be a Wilton Manors hidden gem. I found it initially by doing a general guest house search then compared several and am so glad I chose ED LUGO. A. LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! I walked everywhere...Only a few get away is The Drive where all of the gay bars are clustered so that makes several aspects of life convenient. HUNTERS, THE VILLAGE PUB, THE GYM, ALIBI....are right there. Ramrod is not walking distance. I walked a couple times a day to two unique island-like loves...THE ALCHEMIST for amazing coffee and VOO LA VOO CAFE for the midst stupendous fresh French cuisine. Publix Grocery, Starbucks and ROSIE'S are just steps away. B. BEAUTIFUL SMALL APARTMENTS. The best way for me to describe your lodging is that each truly is a very stunning private apartment. I had a private gate from the street that opened into a hidden island paradise. My apartment was stocked with the fridge, microwave, dishes.....he made huge fresh from scratch Chocolate Chip Cookies that arrived warm. I had both an outdoor shower amidst the palms and a large indoor travertine shower for two. C. COST/AFFORDABILITY is better than I could find elsewhere. Even if I'd paid more I'd not been frustrated with what I was afforded during my 3-night stay....I'm writing my review almost a month post departure but I'm booked for another 3-night stay in almost a month. D. THE POOL/SERENITY AREA...in an area behind a set of the apartments is what I call the Serenity Area. Useable around the clock this clothing optional area has the hot tub, large pool, cabana-like area, a large grassy area too enjoy with comfortable lounge chair and tables. I found this a comfortable area where I could be in my own zone even though other guys were there or I could experience the communal friendships developed. E. STAFF! HOSTS/APARTMENT ATTENDANTS....all employees, male and female, were so conscientious about my privacy and some how attended to things without ever being seen. The warmth and welcoming hospitality when I checked in was exactly what I had each time I did see staff or walked into the registration office area. Even bar owners and bar patrons spoke so highly of ED LUGO. IT WAS MORE THAN I IMAGINED IT COULD BE AND I'M THANKFUL FOR MY EXPERIENCE. read more

From the minute we walked in to the minute we left we were treated as family, not guests. It's a small place so it's intimate, you're not part of a machine that is moving people through. They looked up the next guests that would be taking our room to determine when we would have to check out. The service was top notch, quaint and pleasant. The look and feel of this guest house is that of a grotto. You feel like you have left civilization. The pool is long and narrow and deliciously heated with a powerful waterfall that feels amazing. We never had the need for the hot tub bc it was so warm. The feel is that of a 1920's craftsman bungalow and you walk into a paradise garden with many spots for frolicking and making new friends. :))))) read more

Ed Lugo Resort exceeded all of my expectations during my recent stay over Memorial Day weekend! My husband and I were welcomed at check in with our choice of shots (much needed after a long day of travel). Ed continued to cater to our needs poolside or while relaxing on loungers and comfortable hammock. The grounds are lush, private and beautifully landscaped. Our room was the smallest available but still quite comfortable and had everything we needed. Our in-room shower was large but remained unused throughout our stay as the private, outdoor shower was simply amazing on our private patio surrounded by large palms providing ample shade. We cannot wait to visit again! What a value compared to resorts located on the beach- we prefer to stay where the nightlife of Wilton Manors is, right outside your door. read more

Everything was perfect.... Until. Friend of mine and I went out in Wilton Manors and decided it would be safer to not drive home that evening and avoid problems. We arrived at Ed Lugo Resort and went through the registration process. Ed himself took us to the room and showed us the grounds which were amazing. He was very accommodating and even gave us beers! There was loud music playing near by so the air was still very much filled with "party mode" despite the very late hour. My friend was done for the night and went straight to bed. I was so mesmerized by the beautiful lush grounds and amazing pool with water fall that I decided to make it a mini one night staycation. I could not resist and took a dip. After all I was a guest at the resort right? Shortly thereafter I saw a couple walk by. Next, Ed himself. He was caught by surprise when he saw me in the pool as it was apparent he did not expect to find me there. Shortly after I got out and decided to do a little reading and lounging before turning in. Again Ed came out for a 2nd time, circling the area in which I was "lounging". I felt as though I was an uninvited guest being "checked on" despite the fact I was a paying guest at the resort. I even asked if if was okay that I was out there because I got the sense that he was not too pleased. What really ruined it was the next day. We left before checkout time. Apparently Ed called my friend to accuse me of stealing the two towels which I used from the room. He claimed and threatened the towels cost $60 each and would be charged to the credit card on file if they were not returned. My friend of course called me in a panic asking me where the towels were. They were left in the room on the chair next to the bed. The towels were there the entire time. Did he not check the room prior to making false assumptions and accusations towards his guests? Yeah, he should have probably done so. I think he was more interested in my friend more than anything quite frankly. The fact that the owner of the resort had the audacity to call and accuse us (me, probably because I am a straight woman) was offensive beyond belief. It is APPARENT that the fact I went into the pool bothered him. Why else would he have done that? What a disrespect to a SUPPOSED guest. I have never felt more unwelcome before and hope to never feel that way again at any hotel. I will not be returning nor will I recommend Ed Lugo to the many many clients I have which constantly ask me for recommendations. read more

I stayed here based on some hotels.com reviews, and they definitely got it right. This place is so relaxing and peaceful. As soon as I arrived, Ed & his staff offered me a few glasses of wine to relax and showed me around the property. The pool and jacuzzi are relaxing. Several times, while I was in the jacuzzi, Ed would come around and ask if I needed anything, he brought me a bottle of white wine a glass, he brought me a bowl of chocolate covered almonds and pretzels while I was in the jacuzzi as well. Our 2 day pre-cruise stay (7/12 to 7/14) at the Ed Lugo Resort was an awesome experience! We picked this place specifically for it's location in the Gay-borhood and it was ideal for our need...being close by restaurants, banks and stores (including Starbucks and of course Dunkin Donuts) and just a short walk/stumble from the gay clubs/bars (Alibi, The Manor, Bill's Filling Station, Matty's and Rosie's). Ed was a fabulous! He welcomed us with open arms at 9am for early check-in, gave us a tour of the property and pointed out a place for us to grab breakfast. Throughout the stay, he was always friendly, helpful and the epitome of a gracious host. Our group of 14 took up the entire place of 3 cottages and 2 rooms and everyone in the group was impressed by the facilities, service and the care that Ed and his staff provided...including the snacks on the counter, soda/water/beer in the fridge, chocolate covered strawberries and best of all was Ed coming around with his huge bottle of chilled Patron and shot glasses. We also used the pool and hot tub quite extensively, including late at night, and fresh towels always seemed to magically appear. Everyone in our group agreed that this would be the only place we'd stay if we found ourselves in Ft Lauderdale again. Thanks again for everything Ed! read more

Stayed here for five days with my boyfriend to experience Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manors and attend some parties during Miami music week. The experience at this resort was nothing less than phenomenal. Amazing hospitality from the moment you walk in the office. After a quick tour of the resort, we went to our room to find fresh hand made cookies! We stayed in the poolside king suite, which was perfect with its large, comfy bed and beautiful shower right next to the pool. The pool has a relaxing waterfall and was heated just enough to be refreshing but not awkwardly warm. We also enjoyed complimentary cocktails while we laid in the sun by the pool. The staff is extremely friendly, making sure your every needs are taken care of and are able to provide great advice on the local area. The resort is in walking distance to most shopping and nightlife on Wilton Drive and is only about 15 minutes (depending on traffic) from the beach. I stayed in Suite #7 at Ed Lugo Resort in Wilton Manors, Florida from 3/1/2017 through 3/3/2017. I want to first acknowledge the friendliness of the resort staff and the top notch accommodations. While getting ready to check out, my partner noticed red dots on his stomach. Upon further inspection, I noticed more on his back so we called a friend who is a professional housekeeper who found bed bugs coming out of a wall outlet and in the seam corners of the mattress cover. I contacted the owner of the resort, and reported it to him. At first he was very nice and offered a free night in an upgraded room. I refused the free night, but did take him up on the upgrade. We noticed, once we moved into the new room a clean crew when into our old room and two hours later Ed approached my partner and told him we had to leave and offered him a cab ride and $100. He also said he had an inspector come and could not find any bed bugs. He then came to my room and told me the same thing and made the same offer. I told that I would not be treated in such a way and refused the offer, but kindly asked for a refund for the what I paid already. He referred me to the hotel Ed Lugo website where no refund policy is posted. read more

My husband & I just returned from our honeymoon stay in villa 2406 (2 bedroom, full kitchen, dining & living room areas). We really couldn't be any happier with our stay. I found it while researching online and emailed the resort back in February before booking to ask if we could bring my small dog. I received a quick response with a friendly message from Ed giving his permission. Upon checking in, Ed greeted us with a glass of wine and chit chat. The office is decorated beautifully with fresh flowers everywhere. Ed was warm and genuine, offering up reccommendations for nearby restaurants. He introduced us to Lourdes, who showed us around the pool area & to our villa located about 5 steps from the pool- it is absolutely gorgeous! Especially at night, the pictures & reviews do not lie. The decor inside the villa was boutique-like, tastefully done and very nice. There were fresh flowers throughout, robes, chocolates, complimentary snacks & drinks, a nice display of chilled champagne with glasses and chocolate dipped strawberries. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'd need to cook in. The first night we used thier outdoor grill & had dinner on the back patio, which was beautiful. The heated pool is lit up very nicely at night, and paired with the waterfall & exotic foilage everywhere, it is simply stunning. Everything screams romance and relaxation! We spent time lounging in the hammock & hottub. We also pretty much had the pool to ourselves most of the time, which was great because I could have been perfectly content never leaving this property during our entire honeymoon. A nice touch is their outdoor shower made private by more trees & various foilage. Lourdes took great care of us, checking on us daily, bringing extra towels, etc. Although we refused daily housekeeping, it was offered to us. She even offered to walk our dog! There was someone on the property 24/7 if we needed anything. This place is so uniquely private & so close to everything at the same time. We reccommend visiting Le Patio restaurant if you're looking for a romantic dinner out, a 5 minute walk from the resort (amongst various other close by restaurants). There are plenty of things to do in town & the resort is a 10 minute drive from the beach as well. All in all, we loved this place & will be back. The value, hospitality and personalized touches you get for the price can't be matched. While coming home yesterday (we live on the other coast), we had driven about an hour when I realized I left some clothes in our unit by mistake. We called Ed & he kindly offered to mail them to us. If you are considering this place for a private getaway with your significant other, DO IT! You won't be disappointed. I highly reccommend 2406 for it's amenities and location by the pool. You could comfortably have 2 couples stay in this unit without it being too cramped, which is exactly what we hope to do in the future. Thanks again Ed & Lourdes! I just got back from an amazing weekend getaway, let me say this Ed and Lou Lou were superb!!!! When we first got the greeted us with glasses of wine and great hospitality. Went in to to ask where i can find a florist to get some specific flowers and Ed told me he would get them and have them in my room as a surprise, i was like wow what owner would do something like that? And when we got back to our room that day the flowers were there and the were gorgeous.
