We needed a new electrical box with a GFCI outlet installed in the garage. Not the biggest job perhaps but we still needed to get it done. The team at Edam's Electrical was able to give a quote over email after I sent photos of the existing setup and explained exactly what we needed. They replied promptly, gave a very reasonably-priced quote with details about they would do, and were able to come out relatively soon. This was a welcome difference compared to my experience with many other companies I contacted on Yelp--some of whom never bothered to reply, others who didn't seem to read the quote, one who simply quoted an hourly rate (and wanted to send *two* people out at one time for a one-person job), and some who were booked at least a month out. The Edam's Electric electrician arrived on time, wore a mask the entire time, confirmed what he would be doing, and took time to answer a few questions I had about the job and the related wiring. Once done, he showed me everything he'd done, tested it with me, and cleaned up everything he'd worked on. All of that gave me even more confidence in the quality of their work and their abilities. This review is for work done in January 2016, but finally getting around to writing reviews. Ash and his coworker came over to do multiple projects that spanned the entire day. We had an initial conversation over the phone and he gave some rough estimates and they knocked out what could be done in one day. This included: installing a new electrical dryer hookup from the circuit box, installing a new bathroom vent, upgrading the bathroom from knob & tube, and adding an outdoors electrical box. I find it hard to believe someone with such a positive rating on Yelp can only accept jobs 2-3 months in advance, especially when the majority of his reviews come from Yelpers with emergency situations. It's not cute to live like the Amish when you have a hungry and thirsty 1-year old for a boss--the fridge and microwave need to work. Everything electric in our home went on the fritz all at once, and while it's fine for junior to wait for me to heat his milk on the stove instead of the microwave, it is seriously not okay to have to throw out spoiled $8 organic goat milk day after day because the (freakin NEW!) fridge can't stay cold. We weren't psyched to have to call and pay for an electrician, but the burning toxic smells coming from the walls were the final motivation. Ash from Edam's was able to come out the same week, troubleshoot, and explain the problems in a way I could understand (no dimmer switches on outlets unless you want your baby monitor and cell phone charger to melt down--whoopsie!). He fixed some problems on the spot and came back within 24 hours with parts to do the rest. He even offered different color options for the light switch changes we needed to make. Prompt. Honest. Reliable. Need I say more?! Matter of fact, I will. Ash was very professional as he returned my call within less than an hour of leaving a frantic message on his voicemail. I told him that the outlet in my bedroom had went out he replied by telling me that he would meet me at my place by 4:30 later that day. To my surprise, Ash arrived 30 minutes early from our scheduled appointment and he gave me a reasonable estimate before actually working on the project! We blew a fuse on our fuse box and Edam helped us test all the fuses and replace them safely as I didn't want to electrocute myself. Edam gave me some excellent tips on what to do to prevent frying your fuses. I especially liked how Edam called back within minutes and offered to come that same day since I was in the area. I thought this was very considerate of him and upon arrival, he was polite, friendly and professional in appearance and demeanour. Ash is definitely an honest guy! I had him come to my house and worked on 2 projects. 1 was installing a switch and another was to replace the knob and tube wiring I had around the house. Both jobs were done in a quick and efficient manner. We did have a little accident at the 2nd job, but it was fixed and compensated for by the end of the day. Ash is quick and Easy. I am married to an obsessive compulsive perfectionist who is untrustworthy of tradesmen and prefers to do all home improvement projects himself. I put my foot down when I was 9 months pregnant and demanding that our electrical work be completed ASAP. I called a few electricians and my husband found faults with each one, except for Ash Edam. After explaining the work we wanted done -- rewiring the kitchen and doing the main panel -- he took the time to point out other things that needed addressing. He wasn't doing this to drum up more business; he was more interested in ensuring that our home is safe. Because we liked him so much right off the bat, we requested a quote for not only the kitchen wiring and main panel, but for a bunch of other things, like wiring the garage and adding a sub panel. He did more than that, but honestly I wouldn't even know how to describe it all. In terms of costs, Ash's quote was very competitive. It wasn't the cheapest, but I would prefer to pay a little more and hire someone you trust. And let's face it, good electricians cost a pretty penny! Ash and his crew were great. They were always professional, polite and efficient. I felt completely safe with them in my home. Also, when the work was proceeding ahead of schedule, Ash informed us that they would be able to do additional lighting work that we originally wanted (over cabinet lighting) at no additional cost. Unbelievable, I know! The end result is great. Our home is now safe and our kitchen lighting is beautiful. I called to get an estimate to replace some electrical fixtures, fix a non working light and troubleshoot a set of lights which flicker. My call was quickly returned, he showed up on time for our scheduled estimate appointment and gave a reasonable quote. We scheduled a time for the work to be completed, however about 1/2 hr before the appointment he called to say his co-worker called in sick and we would need to reschedule. No problem - except I have not received a call back. Thinking that "things sometimes happen" or phone numbers get lost, I left a message to reschedule. I've lived in the Bay Area for about 8 years now having transplanted from the North East. I still find it difficult to find good service providers here. We have had issues with our house for a while and had other electricians come in and say they needed to rewire the whole house. We recently had some circuits in our house go off and on sporadically so I knew it was time for an electrician. I went online to get a well reviewed electrician and came across Edam's Electric. I called and Ash responded with an appointment for the next day. He was very professional, prompt and thorough with his assessments. To cut a long story short, he found out the real culprit for this ongoing problem. It was the main electrical box and wiring that was corroded and needed replacement. Since, it was a big job I assured him that it would be okay for him to finish it in a couple of days. So, he gave his quote and left to return the following day. However, he called me back within an hour and said that he was willing to start the project that very same day and planned to finish it. How cool was that! Within a couple of hours he had pulled the SSF electrical permit, made arrangements with his worker that was finishing up nearby and was already working on the mainline replacement project. They worked into the evening and had everything up and running within a few hours that same day! He scheduled the inspection with the SSF Safety Inspector the very next day and got everything squared away for us. I didn't even have to deal with pulling a permit, scheduling the inspection or anything related to materials because Ash and his team took care of everything. Ash is a professional through and through. He has great customer service that people look for and appreciate. He is courteous, reliable, fair, accommodating, respectful and most importantly, provides excellent quality work. A week later we had a couple of glitches on another circuit in our house so I called him to swing by since the issue resolved in a few minutes and was not affecting us in anyway. He did respond but now the issue has completely gone away.
