Way past due review. After a long search for a lighting vendor for our wedding we came upon JL Imagination. We went by their office to talk about our venue and was very impressed. We worked with Julio and he was really nice and explained the different options we had. Julio went above and beyond! We initially settled on a lighting package for the Bently Reserve and everything seemed to go according to plan. There was going to be a soft setting for the ceremony then a change in color scheme for the banquet. After the lighting change, the staff could have just left and returned after the event was over to take down the equipment. Well, Julio stayed basically the entire time because he knew that it would have been difficult for some of the transitions and the lightning would not have came out right. We paid for a certain types of lights and labor, and most vendors would just stick by that, but Julio spent way more time there than he probably would have even anticipated. This is a long overdue review. Julio and Patty are amazing. I was booked them for my wedding originally for November 2020 then Covid ruined our plans. They were so accommodating and we easily moved the date to the November 2021, completely stress free. Our venue was the Corinthian in downtown San Jose. We loved everything about it, but the lighting... hence JL Imagination was hired. We could not recognize the venue on our wedding day. It was so romantic, beautiful and magical. We initially found out about JL from visiting the venue we picked for our reception (IDESST Sausalito Portuguese Cultural Center) and absolutely loved the lighting and drapery in photos we saw. We had an initial consultation with them and fell in love with their showroom but sadly they were out of our initial budget for our wedding. A few months rolled by and the mother of the bride wanted to pay for something to help out. We suggested the drapery and she gladly said yes. She ended up contacting JL Imagination again not knowing that we had already met with them previously. It must have been fate because once getting back in touch with JL Imagination everything just fell into place. Our venue had a pretty big stage that we put our sweetheart table on and they did all the drapery to cover the entire thing. They even threw in a cover up for the front of the stage. In the original photos we saw of the venue they hung a chandelier and they were kind enough to add a more fitting chandelier for us. Our florist end up decorating the chandelier and it was absolutely stunning. Patty and Julio at JL are amazing. They are such great people. If you have the budget to work with them we highly recommend it. They are top notch and do a phenomenal job. They made it so easy for us and made our reception venue a dream come true. read more

I recently worked with Patty for our wedding at the Bently Reserve in SF a month ago. There are so many moving parts to planning a wedding, but Patty was such a pleasure to work with. She was super flexible and listened to what we wanted and worked within our budget to and make selecting our lighting package so easy! Her open communication and prompt responsiveness were also very much appreciated. If you have ever been to the Bently, it can be a little dark without the help of additional lighting. We were a little unsure as to what we actualy needed, but the candlelight glow uplights that Patty suggested put a soft romantic glow on our venue to create a perfect ambiance and vibe. We also had draping installed and their draping was great- quality fabrics that looked soft, romantic, and elegant. The ceiling wash was beautiful and such a great detail as well. Patty's work turned out beautifully- better than I had envisioned! Their attention to detail and quality of their materials are incomparable. Patty at JL is amazing to work with. If you have the option to work with them, we would HIGHLY recommend it- the team is very professional and do a flawless job. I have had several great experiences with the hard-working, prepared, and dedicated AV professionals at JL Imagination. If you are holding a big event, these are the folks to call to make sure the sound and visuals are top-notch. Julio was the tech last night at a non-profit fundraising event I helped manage, and he went the extra mile. When I got to the venue, he had already completed setup flawlessly and he knew exactly what to do. I had made some last minute changes (which I brought on paper) and he was ready to make them with ease. It immediately helped me relax and handle other responsibilities, which helped immensely. Later in the program, I was going to advance some slides. When I was distracted by other things, I missed my cues, but Julio was on top of it and handled them for me. That was crucial. Not every AV vendor is that aware and ready to make sure your event is a success. The most important thing is feeling confident that your AV team knows what to do when, and how to deal with unexpected changes or the inevitability of everything going long. Amazing. I was "helping" a friend plan her wedding, and 3 weeks away from the big day, the former lighting specialist - who shall remain nameless - decided he couldn't do a bunch of elements, and we lost faith in his work. Our florist put us in touch with Julio, and we never looked back. Working with Julio was wonderful - he was very patient and explained different lighting elements to us, had excellent suggestions about what lighting elements we needed, and worked so hard to bring everything together for us on the wedding day. We told Julio about the stage, lounge, candy buffet, and floral arrangements were going to have at the reception, and Julio immediately had some great suggestions about what we needed to make our wedding really shine - pun intended. Julio put together a lighting package that included stage lighting, intelligent spotlighting, uplights that switched from soft white to blue, projector, plasma screens, pin spots, chandeliers, and much more. He also helped us figure out how to handle the hotel and their crazy lighting grid. Julio and his team (including Patty, who was also wonderful) worked so hard throughout the night before the wedding and the whole day of the event to make the wedding reception a fantastic event for all 350+ guests to remember for the rest of their lives. All the guests and even many of the hotel staff (who must see soooooooooo many weddings all the time) kept coming up to me and telling me that they had never seen such a gorgeous wedding reception in all their lives. I got married October 12, 2013 and had my reception in a white tent and the first thing I told Julio is I didn't want it to look white ha ha I knew I was pretty much asking the impossible but the team did it and MORE! When I first met with Julio at his Burlingame studio I was immediately hooked. All of his equipment is top of the line and he is a true professional. He can do ANYTHING you can imagine with lights and is an artist with the way he is able to play with colors and use them to create different feelings. I had a few ideas but didn't know exactly how to execute them, JL Imagination was able to take my ideas, enhance them and make the adjustments to make them perfect! After explaining my concern of how much white was in the tent Julio offered to meet me at the venue and try out some of the lights to see what exact effect I was looking for. He didn't need to take all of this additional time with me but he is such a perfectionist and was so patient I truly felt like he wanted to do everything to make me happy which he of course did! JL Imagination, wanting to make everything perfect, started setting up the lights the night before my wedding so that they could test them at night so they wouldn't just be setting them up during the day of my wedding. JL Imagination did a FANTASTIC job lighting our wedding reception. We were married at The Winery on treasure island, which is a warehouse-like space. We wanted to the vibe to be funky but elegant and they did an amazing job listening to our vision and turning it into a reality (with lots of their own ideas and additions along the way!). They assisted us with up lighting and creating a large installation of glowing paper lanterns that was the center piece of the space. It blew all of the guests away! I could not have been more pleased and delighted with the outcome.
