Eddie's Southtown Donuts on S. Kingshighway

I purchased a Surprise Bag from Eddie's Southtown Donuts via Too Good to Go. It was my first time going to this donut shop. Parking lot availability. Clean shop. I received 7 fresh donuts. Great value, tasty donuts and good customer service. I'll go back again for donuts.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The donuts were delicious even after a later time and the options do not disappoint. I will be coming back again!

Box o' dines. They have one called the butthole I was encouraged to try. Lol.

Dude here is a trip, pretty funny but I can see how some others felt his commentary off putting. They have a butthole donut as he called it so I got one for my friend to try along with several others. They tasted okay, still good but the butthole done tasted like formaldehyde, and we threw it out. I like supporting local and I think he needs more business to sustain that location.

Great location, amazing prices, awesome people. Eddie is a riot, he makes you feel like a friend. All the donuts I had are yummy. Tried the butthole today, so good. Powdered donut with a creamy chocolate moose. They do not have these donuts all the time, but it doesn't matter they are ALL really good.

Taste like homemade icing. The dough is thick and fulfilling not greasy like Texas dounts. Let's just say that hospitality is top-notch. Visiting from out of state. Workers were super sweet, welcoming and funny! Gave us recommendations on places to go eat.

Vanilla long john, two blueberry cake (my favorite!), chocolate cake, vanilla/chocolate frosted yeast, and a cream cheese pastry.

I went to Eddie's for the first time this weekend and was so pleased! The service was friendly and the donuts were delicious! I got a 1/2 dozen donuts and a coffee for under $10 so it was all such a value. I will definitely be back next time I need a donut fix, though I will try to get there earlier in the morning so I can see all the options. By the time I got there they were out of some varieties - a good sign that they're delicious!

Had a serious craving for donuts today, also I'm out here supporting black owned business on the daily so it's only right when I see Eddie's I come through and show love. Just turned 10am when I walked in and surprisingly the selection was still plentiful. the fat kid in me was happy:) Greeted by a very nice lady I proceeded to get my usual donut far, after I asked "is there anything I should try"? and she pointed out the heath donut and I said of cooourse. Anyway prices are good and the donuts are fresh, soft and delish bish. Eddie's defiantly got that come back.. so I will be coming back lol.

Great prices and delicious donuts! Fun and personable. Donut holes only 15¢ each. The fancy donuts were sooo good!

Are you looking for a donut place? Close your eyes and imagine taking a big bite into something fluffy, soft, fresh, and sugary! Open your eyes! You are now in Eddie's Southtown Donuts! If this will be your first time going to Eddie's, please let them know! They will gladly give you a FREE sample of exactly what I am talking about. They have a good selection from glazed to the famous Saint Louis 'butthole', and all at a price that is nothing but spare change. There's nothing that can be Eddie's family like customer service, prices, or donuts. I have 5 tasty morsels that you should definitely try for yourself. Clockwise; A chocolate eclair, an apple hand, the butthole, a twist, and a toffee crumble. But we all know you won't just take my word for it. You're going to go down there and find out for yourself.

Nice little donut shop, a bit of a hidden gem. Have the standard donuts and they are done quite well. I am personally a fan of siMple glazed donuts while my husband prefers long johns. Eddie's also has the caramel long johns so you can choose between chocolate or caramel. Get a dozen to go!

I stopped at Eddie's Southtown Donuts to pick up 1 1/2 dozen to bring to work on Saturday morning. We've been in a donut rut and I needed to mix it up a little. I got several cake donuts, several glazed, long johns, twists, jelly, etc. I ate half of the blueberry cake donut and it was sweet and delicious. The man at the counter this morning couldn't have been friendlier. It's nice to walk into a business where people are happy and upbeat! My employees loved the donuts so I'm sure I'll be back soon! Need to try those apple fritters!

Or at least that's what I like to romanticize. My wife and I are kicking off donut Wednesday with a trip to Donut House on Morganford. I described ourselves to the proprietor as long-time passersby, first-time stopper in. We had been by Donut House 100s of times and decided to make Donut House our inaugural Donut Wednesday stop (we'll probably do every other or 1 out of 3 Wednesdays). We both have our favorites...hers blueberry cake, apple fritter, cinnamon roll. His...blueberry cake, apple fritter and a custard filled chocolate. Not disappointed at all, these donuts were great! The blueberry cakes were light, fluffy and blueberry bombs. The apple fritter was like a light, fluffy deep fried apple pie...great cinnamon and tart apple...maybe the best I've ever had. The custard filled chocolate is my personal litmus test...this one was good but not great. Could have used more custard BUT is there ever a bad donut??? NEVER. Glad we stopped in and will do so again. FYI there is seating inside and plenty of off street parking. Plus the light at Morganford / Seibert makes going an easy in / out. Oh and there is a drive thru...way too easy.

A Cautionary Tale (a real one, not a tall tale): First, I…read morecan't say that I'm writing a super fair review, because I haven't ever been into this donut shop. But my mom bought us some donuts from Olde Towne Donuts. I had a bite of a chocolate cake donut and it tasted fine. However, after eating a chocolate Long John, my 15 year old son informed me that he needed his rescue inhaler and some Benadryl pills, because he was having an allergic reaction. We didn't eat anything unusual for dinner. And the donut was the only other thing he ate. When I called the shop to ask if they use any kind of soy protein or pea protein in the ingredients- sure enough, they do. Before calling, I had searched on their facebook page a little to find out it if they had some special feature to their donuts- like "healthier" because of added protein, but I didn't see any mention of ingredients. When I called to ask, the girl who I initially asked wasn't sure what kind of ingredients they used, so I guess a head baker or owner got on the phone and confirmed that they used soy protein in their donuts. I'm not mad- thankfully my son was pretty quick to recognize it and was home where we were able to give him what he needed right away. Still, I caution not only customers with allergies or sensitivities, but I also have a strong word of advice to the owners: if you don't already have notices of this added protein ingredient posted in the store clearly as a warning, as well as on your website/ social media pages, I urge you to do so. It could seriously be a matter of life or death. My son has what people typically refer to as a "peanut allergy"; people who truly have that allergy are not allergic to nuts (I suppose someone could also have a nut allergy on top of it), but they are allergic to much more than just peanuts; it is a legume allergy. Legumes are plant foods formed inside pods, like beans, peas, and pea"nuts". Nowadays, there are so many unexpected foods that can cause an anaphylactic reaction for people with a legume allergy, because so many processed foods have protein as a filler (like highly processed frozen chicken nuggets). And now manufacturers are proud to boast their food item has "added protein". It is the legume protein that causes the severe allergic reaction, known as anaphylaxis. Which can often occur immediately upon ingesting the allergen and the life threatening symptoms can progress in just a matter of minutes. Thankfully, my son's reaction is not immediate- he usually has at least 30min before it becomes serious requiring immediate intervention, and lately he's been able to curb it by taking Benadryl, but he has had many ER visits and epinephrine as a young child. I have often been warned and urged by nurses and doctors not to take the risk of waiting, but to use the EpiPen injector and call 911 as soon as it is realized that ingested an allergen- even before symptoms- or as soon as he has symptoms -even if he's not sure he ingested an allergen. My point in sharing all of this is to emphasize the importance and seriousness of the matter. Please make it known to your customers in some obvious way (and certainly such that your employees would know) that your delicious donuts are made with soy protein (or pea protein or chickpea protein, or lentil protein- believe me, those are all used as added plant proteins.) Reading labels is second nature to our family, but it's so hard when something fresh made incorporates the allergen into their food that would not typically have added proteins. We love donuts and have eaten them from so many different donut shops and houses of donuts all over the country, but never encountered a hidden allergen in the dough. Let the people know, please!
