So is there anything more local than a donut shop? Seemingly always privately owned and operated, by someone who rises way before the sun and creates magic while we all sleep. Or at least that's what I like to romanticize. My wife and I are kicking off donut Wednesday with a trip to Donut House on Morganford. I described ourselves to the proprietor as long-time passersby, first-time stopper in. We had been by Donut House 100s of times and decided to make Donut House our inaugural Donut Wednesday stop (we'll probably do every other or 1 out of 3 Wednesdays). We both have our favorites...hers blueberry cake, apple fritter, cinnamon roll. His...blueberry cake, apple fritter and a custard filled chocolate. Not disappointed at all, these donuts were great! The blueberry cakes were light, fluffy and blueberry bombs. The apple fritter was like a light, fluffy deep fried apple pie...great cinnamon and tart apple...maybe the best I've ever had. The custard filled chocolate is my personal litmus test...this one was good but not great. Could have used more custard BUT is there ever a bad donut??? NEVER. Glad we stopped in and will do so again. FYI there is seating inside and plenty of off street parking. Plus the light at Morganford / Seibert makes going an easy in / out. Oh and there is a drive thru...way too easy. read more

I found this great little donut shop as I was on my way to someone's home to pick up some chairs. I stopped just in time as they were closing and the place smells amazing! Their donuts are delicious and they had a couple of offerings which reminded me of Strange Donuts in Maplewood, MO. Anyway, I recommend stopping here next time you are near south city near Gravois! Also we did a little twist together when I ordered the twist donut, great fun service with a smile! read more

Rating: 4.8 Stars One of staff at my job brought Donut House DCJ donuts to work, and I was lucky to get the chance to eat one. I had never heard of this place, but it is certainly on my radar now. I had the Red Velvet Donut with Icing. This donut was awesome! There was a ton of flavor, and the white icing complementing the donut very well. I have never eaten a red velvet donut with icing before, and I appreciated that addition. Moreover, the donut itself had the perfect sweetness. Red velvet donuts are probably considered too sweet by some, but this one was most certainly not! I look forward to trying their other donuts in the future! read more

A cute little shop within STL county! I was the first customer of the day and had so many options to choose from! Everything was fresh, soft and the icing is so creamy and smooth! My donuts didn't even make it down the road. The gentleman behind the counter is so friendly, prices are reasonable AND they're one of the only donut businesses in the area that's open on Mondays! read more

The donuts weren't bad, but not good. They tasted a little funny. My two friends came to this conclusion independently, as well. I suspect it was the grease. The ambience on the other hand was amazing. Cute 70 year olds sitting around a table that must've been nearly as old as they. I felt like I dropped into a small town. Possibly a Stephen King novel. They weren't smoking, but might as well have been, in this 1970's time-capsul. Once inside the service was wonderful, from the sweet middle-aged Asian woman behind the counter. She was charming and playful. She made me feel at home. I'd rate the donuts a 3, (and this is slightly generous). The construction of the buttermilk was solid, but the taste was a 2. Cheap old fashioned donuts. They start with a nice variety early and have quite the crowd come in so don't wait if you want something specific. All the lady's at the front counter have been delightful anytime i come in and almost always drops extra donut holes into my bag before cashing me out. I can't comment on the sandwich's i have yet to try but they have me absolutely hooked on the red velvet cake donut and their lemon filled one. read more

Best "regular" donuts! You want something fancy or modern, there Vincent or Strange for that. You want to just enjoy a good ol' donut- Donut House! The cake donuts are dense yet airy (try one and you'll understand what I mean), and the raised donuts are so light and fluffy with that old fashioned flavor. They have your best claws and apple fritters, your Bavarian and white cream-filled, but they also have a variety of fruit filled. Someone in your party who doesn't want donuts? Well first, question that friendship, and second, Donut House has kolaches and biscuits options also. Drinks range from coffee and juices to Red Bull (no vodka), sodas, YooHoo!! and others. Stopped in this morning for some donuts for the kids and asked for a croissant and 3 donuts. By the time I got in my car I noticed the croissant wasn't in the bag so I went back inside and she said she didn't ring me up for it but it was the first thing that I ask for? Then she starts getting snotty with me and I asked her why would you need to ring it up separately after years of coming there I never heard such thing.. so then I ask her for the receipt and she keeps talking over me which was extremely rude so I demanded my receipt at that point. Then I ask for the boss and she's yelling I'm the boss which I taught was funny because I know who the owner is there! Then she starts to yell at me trying to say im wrong and all this couldn't really understand her seems she doesn't know English well. The boss then comes out after a minute of her just yelling at me and I asked him this is how you have your workers treat customers? He said no but it surly didn't seem like it. With her still trying to yell over me I left definitely won't be commuting back horrible customer service and disgusting behavior! read more

I may not ever be able to eat a fast food breakfast sandwich again! Donut House has the BEST breakfast croissants. The only down side is that those delicious sandwiches are SO big I have to wait awhile before I have enough room to eat one of their beautiful, light, yummy donuts. Great donuts for a great price from a local shop. This place may not be pretty but it is very clean. They're open all week and early in the morning. I forgot about a potluck at work one day and stopped in at 6:15am to pick up a dozen, they're fantastic! They do give everyone one donut holes upon completing their order, which I really enjoyed. Still to this day colleagues ask me where I got "those donuts I brought in for potluck". read more

This place is a hidden gem, they have a wide variety of donuts from Bear Claws, Oreo, Caramel, filled Donuts but my favorite is the regular old fashioned glazed donut it is so light and not overly sweet like most donuts. The lady that works at the counter is so friendly and helpful. They also sell breakfast sandwiches and drinks. They even have a drive thru for those who want quick on the go. read more

It's hard to describe. I was thinking about just buying a few donuts at Donut House for me and my husband but I couldn't make up my mind so I bought a dozen mixed donuts. Every one of them were amazing, seriously the best donuts I have ever had and I like donuts. My husband agreed :-) The next time I stop in I am going to ask if there's anyway they could make powdered sugar donuts because that is my sisters favorite but I'm sure she would like anything they have. Oh my gosh! I hadn't had a donut in a long while. I woke up craving a donut. I always pass by this donut shop on the way to the office, so I thought I'd treat my staff today with donuts. Everyone is happy! These are the most soft, delicious, yummy donuts I have ever eaten! The store is extremely clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Everything is baked fresh throughout the day, and as you see from my photo, well stocked. I ate a few donut holes. They are fluffy and light. Not thick and hard like most places. I then (yes I had more) enjoyed a delicious jelly filled donut. The donut was so soft it melted in my mouth. The filling was delicious and lightly sweet, and plenty of filling but not too much that it drips onto your clothing. Just enough filling and just enough sweetness. Incredible. I certainly will make this morning stop more often. read more

Hands down best donuts you could ever get in St Louis for a very good price. Plus you get free donut holes for every purchase of doughnuts which are just mouth-watering and delicious. They open everyday 5 a.m. except for Sundays where they open at 5:30 a.m. Centrally Located on morganford . Easily accessible to city or county . The lady that runs the counter is one of the sweetest people on earth. Highly suggested to bring any out-of-town guest as they would come back to st. Louis for just for these doughnuts. Last week I drove to STL and was listening to an audio book that talked a lot about donuts. After about 2 hours of donut talk, I NEEDED donuts (yeah, like my butt did but whatever). My brother and I ran over to the St. Louis Hills donut shop (at Donovan & Chippewa) and it was closed! On a Sunday! Okay, granted it was 3p. So we drove over to Donut House which I haven't been to since like Nerinx days. Ken and I were ecstatic over the selection and the cashier asked us if we had been there before and if we lived nearby. I told her she could tell her customers we drove all the way from Kansas for these donuts. The next thing you know I'm chatting up the old folks about scrubby dutch, Thomas coffee, the old Goodwill--good South City fodder. I left wishing I had a donut shop like that down the street. To the person who "got a headache and felt blah"- did you really expect to feel amazing after eating a doughnut? What a troll. Anyways, this place isn't that pretty BUT it's clean, the donuts are delicious, and the customer service is great. The person who rang us out even gave us a handful of donut holes. I accidentally stumbled on this place and couldn't be happier. The building from the outside is not much to look at, but inside, the had a good selection of doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches. I was just getting some doughnut holes to put out at a kids event, but after seeing the prices, bought a bunch more doughnuts and a breakfast sandwich. Happy with them all. Not a big fan of the Dunkin doughnuts and so so on the Krispy Kremes but this doughnuts were more like Ray's or doughnut palace out in west county, but much more affordable. The breakfast sandwich, Turkey, egg, cheese on a larger croissant would cost $6 at DD but only $1.50 at donut house. Will be visiting much more in the future. read more

I live 250 miles from the donut house, but look forward to going there when I visit my family. The donuts are delicious and the customer service is all smiles. They started closing on Mondays, so we went around 10:00 today ( Tuesday) and they were closed. Big phone number on the door plus some other advertisement, but no explanation of why they were closed or if they would reopen st some point. I sure hope they are not closed for good. read more

This place is open seemingly endless hours. My sister-in-law gets her chocolate long johns from here (and once ate six and one sitting!) I think they are just okay. I have received less-than-fresh donuts here, and that's a no-no in my donut book. read more

There is nowhere to sit and eat your donuts or hang out. However, they do serve coffee to go. I did not try it.
