The beautiful, amazing, caring, thoughtful, considerate owner we were so blessed to chat with while ordering our food gave us some compost for our animals here on our homestead. We were very lucky to have found this delightful place while traveling to Austin. If you have time on your way it's worth a stop in.

Their healthy clean food would convert me into a regular customer, if I lived closer. The drive to Bastrop is worth it for the quality difference. This is clearly a women-owned business that puts serious thought into sourcing and preparation. The smoothies are perfectly blended - no chunks of frozen fruit or watery disappointments. Everything tastes like it was made to order with actual care, not just thrown together. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with that trendy-but-not-intimidating vibe that makes you feel good about your healthy choices. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy what they're doing, which always elevates the experience. When you're investing in your health, it's nice to do it somewhere that feels like a treat rather than a chore.

Best Mexican Super in the entire city of Bastrop!…read more But did you know they have great breakfast tacos? And they're generous with the portions. Look at the amount of bacon I discovered when I got home, took my taco out of the foil and plated it :-) I order my tacos there without cheese, because the cheese they use tastes too much like Velvita to me. But they otherwise do a great job. I love their migas and they always have several fresh salsas to choose from. They also have Pupusas with Curtido! If you don't know what that is, you're missing out! It's the best and most iconic of all El Salvadoran dishes, and it's got a flavor profile that should be loved by anyone who likes Mexican food. Of course, it's not just a restaurant. It's a grocery store. They have meat and fresh produce and narrow but well-stocked aisles. The prices are good. The staff is friendly, and they speak English as well as Spanish. And being there is a bit like stepping into Old Mexico. So swing in by. They're over by Chapala.

They use the same gloves that they use with the raw meat to touch the cook chicharon. The plastic was disgusting. I needed to go back im and ask them to replace it and use a clean gloves. And the place is a time machine, rolling back the decades. Little has changed here in the past three quarters of a century, which makes it very charming. They have farm-fresh eggs, locally-grown salad greens, sausage, cheese, breakfast tacos, baked-from-scratch pop tarts, Texas pretzel bread and other items in this small store, without feeling crowded. At the coffee bar, I had a cortado (Spain's take on a cappuccino -- equal parts espresso and steamed milk) along with a little chocolate truffle. We also picked up some Opa Klein's amazing summer sausage and a six pack of Stash IPA to go. We're coffee snobs. We'll be back for the best cuppa joe in town, at a minimum. Special thanks to Mike K (one of Tracy's baristas) for telling us about this place as he serenaded us during brunch at downtown restaurant. He's a very talented guy, and very proud to be associated with this quaint and historic Bastrop fixture. You know you're doing something right as a business owner when your staff naturally delivers your best and most effective marketing, just from the sheer enthusiasm and pride of working there. So, yeah, it's a tiny little time warp, but it's well run and worth coming to, especially if you're into great coffee.
