I gave this business one star because they dont have a zero star option: I decided I wanted to get an assortment of cupcakes to put in my wifes Easter basket. The young person (woman) decided to help me, she was silent (didnt speak a courteous word.) I was asking about the Easter cupcakes, she simply demanded "which ones do you want". She then proceeded to put the selected cupcakes in a carry out vessel and crushed the lovely icing into the top of the clamshell. She never even slowed down to see what she did. She then went away for several minutes while I was trying to checkout without cupcakes. Once the first (helper???) actually brought the cupcakes the checkout person turned them on their side. This causes the icing to just slide off of the top of their respective cupcakes. So basically, Edgar ruined my wifes Easter surprise. I won't visit this business ag! read more

I can't vouch for the other Edgar's locations, but I've ordered birthday cakes twice for my girlfriend from this location. The first time was a caramel cake. The second time, very recently, was an orange dreamsicle cake. Both cakes were really great and tasty. I ordered online both times, and both times the cakes were ready as promised. I typically just go for their sweets, so I decided to stop by Edgar's and finally try their lunch. The restaurant was packed. It was during lunch so they were very busy and appeared to be overwhelmed. The seating area wasn't as clean as it could have been. It needed to be swept and the tables weren't clean. I assume this was because it was very busy due to it being lunchtime and maybe because they were trying to get orders ready. I saw a lot of stacked to go orders (maybe for Thanksgiving too) in the way to the restrooms. I noticed the staff member who wrung me up wasn't as nice. I tried to let them know this was my first time having lunch and just have small talk... to see if they would suggest anything, and she didn't. I asked had she had the soup of the day, and she hadn't. Instead of her offering me a sample, I had to ask her for one. I asked how their chicken salad was and all she said was "good." Keep in mind, I was the only one in line at that point so her service was short and mediocre. I ordered the shrimp corn chowder and the chicken salad. The food arrived pretty quickly. The soup was pretty good, just needed to add a little salt and pepper. The chicken salad was already prepared in a plastic container so I just had to walk to grab one in their fridge. It was pretty good. It was very creamy and tasty, but had large chunks of celery, which could have been cut smaller. By the time I was done with lunch, that's when I noticed staff members were finally able to clean the seating area. All in all, Edgar's food was pretty good. Service sucked. I'm just throwing that out there. The staff was screwing around in the kitchen and the girls at the counter were not paying attention to people at the counter picking up to-go orders. There was a total of 3 tables with people, including us. So a total of 6 people. They got our order wrong, gave us someone else's order, and then the wrong order they gave us was also wrong from the other person. The manager was in La-la land just walking around. He needs to pay attention to what the staff is doing. My wrap was over grilled and the lettuce was gross and soggy. I do not recommend the chicken avocado wrap... yuck. The pastries are yummy. The service and ambience here are above average. I love that there's a little kids nook where they can play while the food is prepared. I've never been blown away by the soups...the tomato soup for example was very underwhelming. It's not your standard creamy soup, and is more of a chunky style. However, the sandwiches and the bakery items we've sampled are always really tasty...and filling, as they portions are good sized. Coffee is good too. We'll keep coming back. read more

This was my first time coming to Edgar's. They have a huge area indoor and outdoor for seating and they do a great job of spacing the tables out. When I walked in the king cakes caught my eye - tis the season. Then I was drawn to the cakes in the case. They were beautiful. They had something I have to come back to try - cheesecake on a stick. They also had packages of chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered Oreos, macarons, and more. I came for breakfast. I ordered the spicy eggacado sandwich and a small mocha with almost milk. Both were great. The breakfast sandwich had the perfect amount of spicy. I will definitely come back to try some of their baked items. Their orange rolls and pecan rolls looked amazing. read more

My husband and I have been to this cafe quite a few times in the past two and a half years. Pros - Good location - An amazing selection of baked goods. I love their macarons. - Lots of great breakfast and lunch options. The food is great. - Good service - Good coffee (I also really like their chai) - Paper menus and a visual menu board. Cons - The atmosphere does feel like a chain cafe - Closed on Sundays - No breakfast menu items after 10 on weekdays. - No self-serve water. Their staff is very busy, and I hate having to pester people for water. Please let me get it for myself. I think they charged me for a water cup one time. - Expensive I like the food and baked goods at Edgars. They're not the greatest for coffee. They're mostly a bakery and cafe, but they have a huge menu. I really like their American Breakfast (their cheddar biscuits are amazing). We have ordered cakes there a number of times but we're finding that their quality is starting to slip considerably. We just got a Lemon Cake for daughter's birthday. We were told that cake didn't need refrigeration so we didn't. We picked it up later afternoon, kept it in our home for an hour or so, and then went out to dinner. I want to like Edgar's more. I really do and I'll keep trying. But it's easy to get overwhelmed either in this store (seemingly always busy and the waitstaff harried and annoyed) or online. They offer a wide selection of pastries, cakes, cupcakes, petit fours and sugar cookies (I'm likely forgetting something), takeaway lunch items and drinks, gifts and specialty items like local honey. I've never eaten in the cafe because....pandemic...so only order-ahead and pick up. 1) The chocolate decadence cake I ordered for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary was totally lopsided. I didn't realize this until I plated it on a cakestand. The cake was delicious and I decorated it with a topper to distract the eye but for an expensive cake, you'd expect a straight cake. (I went to pastry school but was trying to save myself the stress of creating a beautiful anniversary cake.) 2) I follow Edgar's on IG and was immediately hooked when they posted a photo of orange dreamsicle cupcakes, so I ordered four for my birthday. (I'm gonna post a photo.) My son had his hair cut the day of our pickup and I even mentioned them to the hairdresser who said she used to work for Edgar's and she'd never even heard of orange dreamsicle cupcakes. Plot thickens. I was hungry when I picked them up so I bought an apple turnover and it was delicious. BUT! Upon plating the cupcakes for my birthday, I was certain I had picked up the wrong order. They looked....much unlike the photo on IG. Tasted delicious so I guess looks can be deceiving. What's my point? Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things and post-pandemic, I'll definitely try the cafe. Food was prepared well and served promptly. We had their Chicken Salad Sandwich served with Kettle Chips (other options available). Two of us had their Soup of the Day, Roasted Corn w/Shrimp. All were delicious. We also had a slice of their Strawberry Cake;very good. It's a bakery/cafeteria style restaurant/with gifts, etc ...) Comfortable tables and seating inside and outside if you prefer. We picked up a Chocolate Marble Pound Cake and some dark roasted coffee to gift our friends at home. This is the second Huntsville-area Edgar's location. It opened probably less than a year ago after being under construction for what felt like forever. Edgar's does sort of cafe style breakfast and lunch -- lots of sandwiches, salads, and smaller plates -- as well as their abundance of baked goods. This location is fairly spacious and there are also cute little stocking stuffers and knickknacks for sale mixed in with the pastries and tins. We ordered for pickup as they don't currently do curbside. Unfortunately, it seemed to me that pickup orders have to stand in line with everyone else to get their food. There's no special pickup line or station or anything, even though your payment is processed online and all that's left to do is actually get your food. Panera is a pretty similar restaurant concept that I feel does online ordering/carry out much better. The waiting in line wouldn't be a huge problem if the place wasn't absolutely packed, but it was -- so I stood in line for about 15 minutes while my food got kind of cold. The line moved pretty slowly and the cashiers seemed overwhelmed and tired. At least I was able to grab an extra pastry that caught my eye for dessert. We wound up eating our food in the car because I was desperate to get at it before it got completely cold and soggy. I had a chicken bacon ranch grilled sandwich and boyfriend got a hot ham and cheese. Both come with chips and your choice of a second side and we both got the Mac and cheese. He liked his sandwich better than I liked mine. The bread was okay and toasted nicely, but they were not generous with the chicken, bacon, or ranch -- just a tiny, super thinly pounded chicken cutlet with maybe two small strips of bacon and a tiny dollop of ranch. Chips are standard Vicki's salted kettle chips. Neither of us were taken with the Mac and cheese. A little too soft, oddly too creamy for our tastes, and under seasoned. I nabbed an orange roll for dessert. The layers were nice and gooey and buttery, although the orange icing hinged more on the medicinal side. It was okay. Probably would have liked the similar cinnamon or pecan rolls more, but I was hoping I'd like the icing more than I did. I've had Edgar's strawberry and chocolate cakes before at family birthdays, and they're decent as well. I don't think I'd seek them out for myself, but I'm not displeased to see them if someone else is offering, ya know? No pictures because I was in too much of a hurry, haha. Overall, better baked goods than lunch fare, though the baked goods aren't crazy exceptional either. Worth a shot for their convenience and wide selection of treats. read more

Food is pretty good. Service is good. It would be nicer if it were cleaner. I felt food crunching under my feet twice last time I visited, when in line to order and when walking to a table. I would like to see the tables, floors and high chairs clean. (I try to wipe down the high chair pre and post use). I have liked the salads alright, although some of the dressings are way too sweet for my taste, but it IS a bakery. I do like browsing through the gifts in their shop. This was my first time at Edgar's. They have an array of baked goods, all of which look gorgeous. We ordered a Reuben and T Bird sandwich to go, both with a side of slaw. The pepper slaw was very tasty with an oil and vinegar dressing. The sandwiches were good, not fantastic. Kinda bland, but better than fast food. We purchased a container of pimento cheese and loaf of challah bread from the market items to bring home, both were very good. 1st try - strawberry petit fours and cookies decorated like fish. Beautifully made but petit fours were so sweet and soggy under the icing. We all threw our pieces away. Cookies were good. 2nd try - dozen mixed macaroons and 4 slices of cake. Macaroons so disappointing. Filling didn't not go to edges of cookie and with 6 flavors we could only taste 2 different flavors. coconut was the best, lemon was not good, and the rest tasted like vanilla or bland. Just sweet no flavor. Cake slices were strawberry, hummingbird I think, chocolate coconut pecan, and red velvet. So far tried two, both good but again felt like strawberry had some kind of syrup applied to make it too sweet or trying to make it moist. $41.42 total. We will try again, but probably only one more time. It's disappointing that grocery store bakeries can put out tastier, fresher products for less costs than our local bakeries. We are looking for fresh amazing products that doesn't miss since the prices are so much higher. read more

It's just ok. This spot offers basic cakes, macaroons, brownies, cheesecake, pasta & chicken salad and then there's a hot order menu. None of the baked goods are homemade as expected at bakery that boasts excellence. They're all frozen concoctions, thawed then iced. I tried the strawberry cake; the icing is creamy and artificially flavored & the cake has no taste without dipping it in the icing. The pasta salad is the best thing I had, it's close to what I make at home. I had the pesto grilled chicken sandwich and it was absolutely flavorless I mean they use chicken breast so it's already dry as heck. I exchanged the ciabatta bread for the jalapeño cheese bread which had my mouth watering at the thought. Had I known the jalapeño cheese bread was just squared winder bread with a few bits of cheese and a speck of jalapeño, I would've left it alone. Also they FORGOT TO put the feta cheese on my sandwich. So I got a dry, tasteless sandwich with no seasoning at all. MANAGERS PLEASE ADD CUSTARDS TO YOUR OFFERINGS! It'd be nice to have a delicious Pana Cota, crème brûlée, or egg custard ALL OF THE ABOVE. This is a bakery after all. Do away with the frozen cakes. Oh I bought a cheese cake brownie and it was greasy and heavy so I couldn't eat it. Expanding the offerings in the bakery section would do this place a world of good especially since it's quite pricey. read more

Edgar's Bakery has been a go-to for Birthday Cakes especially the Strawberry Cake... ooh!!! It's been a few weeks and I have been slacking off on my review but when I think of this dish I can taste it in my mouf... I talking about the Huevos Rancheros. I guess it's typically served elsewhere with beans, rice, salsa, soft corn tortillas with an egg on top of it. I'd get my spoon or fork and mush it all together and eat it... Well at Edgar's it was served with fried corn tortilla's with avocado, tomatoes, feta and also sitting on it and an egg to top it off and sriracha drizzled all over it. The dish was so pretty, I didn't want to f* it up so I carefully used my fork and cut through it and took a bite. I tasted the freshness of the vegetables with the egg white and yolk carefully taming down the taste with the crunch of the tortilla and the sriracha coming in with a little burn. Yummy!.. We've been there many many times since moving to the Huntsville area. I love that you have an option to just get a slice of cake or one cupcake. We love their multiple types of cinnamon rolls. The staff is always patient when we cannot decide exactly what we want (we usually go for a dessert but leave with many). They also have cupcake decorating kits, whole cakes, cookies, macaroons and so much more. They have sandwich, soups as well. Its always clean and the staff is welcoming. read more

I am an Edgar's junkie! Love love this place... Due to COVID-19 I am no longer close to the one at Providence(which is where I would normally go). I now frequently go to the one on Airport and the service nor the food is as good as the Providence location. The employees are always just standing around with their phones out or having conversations with each other. There is one young lady that is always there, her mask is always under her nose and it is FILTHY! I always cringe when I see her. I got my normal orange roll and today they were more burnt then usual!! When the young lady got the one I pointed too that was less burnt, she picked up the spatula that was for the cinnamon rolls with nuts! I said I am sorry we are allergic to nuts please use the other one. Just makes me wonder if they even think or pay attention to that. I will still go to this location due to convenience, but will just make sure I watch closely. read more
