Originally, this place wasn't on my map. However, it quickly came into consideration once I had considered taking the train from Katonah instead of driving all the way to Long Island from Waterbury, CT and looked at Katonah's parking situations. As you can tell by the existence of this review, I had decided to get to Bellmore I would park in the parking lot next to this business until I got back. This place does kind of give me a Rocky Balboa vibe upon entering, which isn't a bad thing at all. Some of the names of the menu items are even inspired from the movies such as The Balboa and The Italian Stallion. Beyond that, this place does take a little learning, but ordering is pretty simple once you know what you're doing. You don't pay for the order until you get your food, and you pay right by the front door. This is something I could see going awry if the wrong kind of people were to come here and requires an amount of trust in the customers that can make some nervous people uncomfortable. Really though, beyond that the service here is really good. I did have to remind the cashier to get my bill right when it was my turn to pay, so there is also that to consider. I did The Spartan Stack and some Mac and cheese bites because when I was returning to Katonah, I NEEDED something to eat right there and then. The Spartan Stack let me tell you got the spot just right, and I did appreciate some healthier ingredients such as cucumber in there. The Mac and cheese bites are a newer item as was The Spartan Stack, and those were pretty tasty. You get a chipotle sauce to dip them in, and let me just say that it does actually pack a punch of heat! All in all, a really satisfying lunch and I'm glad I came here. It's actually a great spot if you're commuting from the Katonah Station and it's very convenient. A good place indeed. read more

Delicious! This is your good ol' fashioned neighborhood spot where everyone knows each other. Like the corner bodega. Such kind people serving delicious, melted breakfast sandwiches (loved the Just Like Heaven sandwich with eggs and cheese and avocado), perfectly-grilled bread, and even, if you'd like, some ketchup, salt, and pepper on your bacon-egg-and-cheese. Their oatmeal cookie and hazelnut coffee is also delicious. Definitely coming back for more breakfast and lunch sandwiches and coffee. 5 stars!!!! read more

I have been a frequent customer at Paulie's Deli for years. Recently, I've noticed an increase in the use of the chalkboard outside to share political and religious messages. Since the election, there have been several instances where the chalkboard was used to gloat about the Trump/GOP election results and to promote Christian beliefs. While everyone has the right to their opinions, such overt endorsements can alienate customers with differing perspectives. As someone who values inclusivity, I find these displays unwelcoming. Like many others I've spoken to in town, I've decided to take my business to other local delis and cafes that maintain a neutral environment (e.g. Sgaglio's, LMNOP). I hope Paulie's Deli will consider the diverse beliefs of their customers in the future. Regarding Pauli's dismissive response to my review on 11/27: The specific board you're inaccurately referencing stated: "The people have spoken. God bless America (yes, God exists)." Given the context of celebrating the incoming conservative Trump administration, it's evident that "yes, God exists" refers to Christianity. As someone who practices a polytheistic religion, I felt excluded by this message, which catered exclusively to monotheistic, likely Christian, beliefs. The larger point of my review is that many people who didn't vote for Trump are concerned about the incoming administration's authoritarian tendencies. Emphasizing this political shift is alienating customers. On the upside, other Katonah businesses, who don't preach to their customers, are gaining business from your shortsightedness. read more

Paulie's has been my go-to place for coffee and a bagel every Friday for sometime now. I feel compelled to review now after this past week's deviation from my usual and going with a BLT. Absolutely amazing. Toasted everything bagel with bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado with a sauce that takes any perception of mayonnaise you might have and turns it on it's earlobe. Paulie's right hand lady is the master of coffee and Double Barrel Roasters does not disappoint. Also very much worth trying is the "For Heaven's Sake" which is a Bacon Egg and Cheese made grill cheese style with texas toast and will satisfy any hunger you might have for some time. No visitor to Katonah should leave without at least stopping in for a taste. Oh, and I think there was something about beer....... :D read more

Both of them were bland and very salty and my husband's stomach has not been right for five hours now. After we left, we went through the town and there was a ton of other restaurants. Stumbled on this place by accident. Was headed for another restaurant so glad we did. Great selection. A really wide variety to choose from for lunch. Boars head meat. I had a terrific chicken quesadilla. Tons of selections for drinks as well. Beer garden with lots of selections. Delicious home made food. Best chicken cutlet sandwich in Katonah! They probably have more great stuff but the chicken cutlet is the first thing I tried and I keep going back and getting the same thing. It's so good. Fantastic Deli! Paul and Margo have created the go-to deli for the entire area, which is evident by the clientele - everyone that is in the know goes there! The breakfast sandwiches are hands down the best (Sausage, Egg, and Cheese on lightly toasted Bagel my favorite). The selections for lunch are fantastic - and having tried most of the menu items, have always been extremely pleased with anything I have chosen. They are always very generous with the amount of lunchmeat on their rolls wedges, and everything is always fresh (including bread). The whole team is always friendly and happy to see you, which adds to the experience in Katonah. Lastly, Paulie's is always immaculate inside, which is exactly what you want for a location that prepares food - floors, counters, kitchen - everything is spotless.
