We have picked up food from Epsteins Somers to eat at home several times. We also enjoy the Hartsdale location for many years. This was our first time dining in. Everyone was very friendly. The dining area could be a little more inviting , it's very sterile looking with all white walls and "Epstein's" logo on the opposite wall of where you walk in Needs more artwork or something to make it more inviting to dine in. We ordered mushroom barley soup, one pastrami sandwich and a square potato knish to share. We added the extra meat and went first cut, Everything was delicious! So only one question.....The establishment states they are kosher... then why are they offering a roast beef sandwich with MAYONNAISE as a special that day , literally up on the chalkboard. A kosher restaurant never offers mayonnaise on any meat.. against kosher rules. This was very odd. This didn't affect our visit but kosher customers would definitely have an issue with this. read more

We used to go to the Hartsdale location for many years, so wanted to try it out. We were seated promptly. We ordered soup for an app. Soups came. They were warm.. Not hot. I prefer a hot soup, especially on a really cold day. My mushroom barley was tasty though and my husband enjoyed his chicken noodle soup. I ordered and Almost a rueben and my husband ordered the pastrami panini. The sandwiches were pretty good. I liked the bread they used on my sandwich. I didn't think the portions were huge. Definitely smaller than I remember. But it was tasty. Perhaps we would come back for a treat. But I did think it was pricey for what we got. read more

I love a kosher deli and was really excited to try this new location in Somers. The decor is really cute and modern, which was nice. The menus on the wall were in a tiny font so a bit hard to read the find print under each item. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo - opted for the matzoh ball soup and pastrami on rye. The teen at the register asked if I wanted mustard on it and I said yes. My husband ordered a sandwich that had: brisket, pastrami, turkey, peppers and coleslaw. He really enjoyed his and I agreed, it was tasty. Everything was very fresh. We sat down at a table which had place settings, and then we were surprise that they brought the food out in takeout bags/containers. So we unpacked everything onto the table, spilled a little of the soup, and needed more napkins (which were nowhere to be found, nor in our to-go bag, so we had to ask for some). I've made my own matzoh ball soup many times for Passover and love ordering it in a diner, but this was probably the least flavorful soup I've ever had. It literally tasted like nothing. No flavor, no salt, nothing. Perhaps because there was no onion, celery or carrots? It was just a matzoh ball and soooo many noodles. It was also an unnatural shade of yellow I had a few bites and then stopped eating it. My sandwich was okay but as you can see in the photo it was a really fatty/oily piece of pastrami. I realized after the fact that they offered a "lean cut" sandwich and I probably should've ordered that. It didn't have mustard on it, even though they asked if I wanted mustard and I said yes. The fries were fresh but a bit flavorless. They needed some salt. This lunch (with two cans of soda/water) was $53 I know kosher delis are not the cheapest but yikes. I will say that everything was very fresh- the bread, the fries, the cuts of meat etc so they have that going for them! The coleslaw was great too. I would've loved if they gave you a pickle with your meal. ‍ Afterward we had our takeout containers, napkins and bags and walked around with them looking for the garbage -- it didn't exist! We had to hand all of our garbage over the counter to the workers to throw away for us. Awkward. read more

When I saw Epstein's Kosher Deli across from my sister's condo, I knew I had to try it. I was craving a Pastrami on Rye and Epstein's served up a delicious sandwich. I added a touch of yellow mustard and it was off the hook. They opened wirh a small plate of some of the best puckles I ever had. Corned beef , described as full fat, is dry as a bone. Nearly choked on it. Not tasty and certainly nothing like any of the famous NYC deli corned beef sandwiches. Odd taste if it had any. Pricey for the quality and especially after paying any additional $3.50 to pump up the sandwich to a half pound brought cost of the sandwich to a whopping $21.50. Even the rye bread was less than ordinary and mustard tasteless. Maybe if you have never tasted an authentic NYC corned beef sandwich this one might pass as good but there is no comparison to the real thing. Such an adorable second location for this spot also in Hartsdale! Happy they're in Somers now and it's great for my Jewish fix and Rosh Hashanah feasting. Really liked the mushroom barley soup and loved the spinach knish, though the mushroom barley and matzoh ball soup (a little bland) were too salty. Their rye bread is amazing to dip in the soup, so fluffy and flavorful. Coming back to try a half-sandwich and more of their knishes. The last time I ordered the pastrami with mustard on seedless rye bread, the pastrami was dry and they did not give me the mustard. Other than that, the food, service and decor were good. read more

I had been to their other locations before which are amazing as is this location. Great location with plenty of parking - not a lot of tables inside but they are spaced out well enough to move around and comfy chairs. Table service was very good and the food just so amazing. Went to Epstein Kosher Deli about a month ago and am glad I did. Was warmly greeted and shown to my table. The deli itself is on the small side (10-15 tables). It was super busy which is always a good sign. Had a square potato knish (not at all greasy) and a Dr. Browns Cream Soda. They gave me super crunchy pickles. Service was excellent. Growing up in the city, nothing beats Katz deli, but those are some big shoes to fill..I know. I was a little worried when I saw the microwave behind the counter, but hoped for the best. The traditional cut pastrami is supposed be the fattier cut, but I will say is still pretty lean. Tasty sandwich, fries were good, but you will need to salt them as they come unseasoned. Came here for dinner tonight and this deli rocks! We started with potato latkes and blueberry cheese blitzes with applesauce. My wife and I followed up with a half sandwich and soup. My wife ordered matzo ball soup and pastrami on rye. I ordered the beef barley soup and corned beef on club. The service, atmosphere and food quality are excellent! I ordered the brisket meal with noodle kugel and string beans as a side. It was one of the worst meals I have had. The string beans were completely soft and overcooked. They definitely weren't fresh. The noodle pudding was awful, and the brisket was fair. The gravy seemed like it came from a can. In all fairness, my friend ordered a corned beef sandwich and said it was good. I might go back to try the corn beef sandwiches. I have a feeling they do OK with that. The service was fine. read more

Pastrami and corned beef sandwich was great, not overly fatty, or dry, just right. Brisket was terrific.Mediterranean plate was also great, felafel, and nice salads. French fries were fabulous!!! Another great lunch at Epsteins. Service was quick and delightful. Food is consistently solid. Pastrami, knish, pickles, and of course a Dr. Brow's cream soda. Rosanna is fantastic and made sure everything was perfect. We will be back in a couple weeks. read more

What a St. Patrick's Day! Just had the corned beef and cabbage at Epstein's in Somers. Simply the best! I highly recommend going there.

The pastrami is absolutely juicy tender warm on a delicious rye bread. The sandwich is amazing. I'm addicted.

Best pastrami I have eaten in years. Not too salty. Wife ordered the stuffed cabbage, which she said was fine. Accompanied salads (cucumber and beet) were great. It's so great to have a good Jewish deli in Somers. We had hot pastrami sandwich on rye and it was absolutely delicious. Their knishes are terrific too. You are served a dish of pickles as soon as you sit down. Of course you can bring food home as well. The service was great and quick. Everything was very clean. When this deli first opened it was our go-to for lunch. It was nice to see a diversified food choice so close to home. The decor is really cute and was happy to see them succeed when they first opened. However; it is has really gone down since and gone down quickly. First, let's point out that this is not the cheapest option for take out, but I figured it would be cheaper than ordering off of doordash if I called them directly. Let's put it this way-your sandwhich comes with two slices of bread and the meat and no condiments. If you want condiments and basics like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, it will cost you additional money. Forget about fries or a side coming with a full priced / whole sandwhich, which starts at $18. We only got a pickle and no coleslaw. It is only included if you order a half sandwich. When I requested a salad as opposed to the soup with the half sandwhich, I requested the chopped liver-as it was listed as a choice on the online menu. I was then informed that it would be $16 extra even though it was an option on the online menu. When I pointed this out to the employee who took my order - she asked her manager if she could honor the price on their website and was informed to tell me that 'their website was under construction' - even though it looks pretty finished to me. Still I gave her a healthy tip when I picked up my meal. While I expected an add on such as avocado to be extra, they didn't even know if they had it when I requested it and it was listed on the menu. When I opened the container the avocado was hard and raw. The fries were dark brown and burnt. The bordst soup was super watery. Long story, short if you charge customers a premium; they are going to expect quality. If you are going to advertise a menu, you should honor what is on it. It is about building a customer base especially when you just opened your doors. read more
