Listen up, it's Trevor all the way, forever. I don't personally go to Edge because I'm on that curly girl journey, but I've been devoted to them for my son's haircuts ever since I stopped doing them myself (for everyone's sanity). A couple months ago, an online booking snafu put us at the salon waiting for an employee who was no longer working there... Trevor, who had just started at the salon, was cleaning up and ready to leave but he overheard what happened and offered to stay past shift end to cut my boy's hair. When I tell you... my son strutted out absolutely glowing and the excitement on his sweet little face brought tears to my eyes. Trevor talked to him like a grownup, asked his opinions, showed him pictures to confirm his understanding, and gave him the coolest cut of anyone in his entire elementary school... these sharply angled emo bangs take me right back to the mid-90s in the very best way. I have had to solemnly swear that we can go to Trevor forever, and I will keep that promise! I haven't yet agreed to let him bleach his hair to look more like Trevor, though Not only does Edge just have the sweetest staff, but it's a typically lovely Aveda spa so it smells incredible and carries all your favorite botanical beauty needs. I got a cut and color with Karen. I took a gamble as I am just visiting the area and had free time, so I trusted that this salon would have good hair stylists. I am happy to say, my gamble paid off. :) I went in with my hair down to my hips, I really needed something fresh and stylish. My hair was looking so drab! I asked for a shag/butterfly cut. For whatever reason people are always so afraid to give me layers that I can actually see! I let her know my frustration with my hairdresser last time! I asked for a shag and my last hairdresser just gave me light layers. Karen did an EXCELLENT job giving me the EXACT haircut I was looking for! She gave me curtain bags too, just like I wanted. My hair now has so much body and the cut enhances my natural wave. I really love the color she gave me too! I will definitely come back here if I visit again! Oh and another thing I really liked about the experience, there were times where she didn't feel like she needed to talk. I really like this quality in a hairdresser! We made nice conversation, but it really becomes tiring to me when the hairdresser feels like they have to talk the whole time (I think that is born out of anxiety). I came here for my first haircut since COVID started. I used to come here quite often when I lived in Chapel Hill, but I haven't been back in a long time. Boy, am I glad I decided to come back. I booked a 2pm appointment with Heidi. I arrived around 2 minutes early and was promptly checked in. I was also asked if I wanted a complimentary beverage, and I asked for a coffee (which ended up being amazing). I didn't wait long--I was seated for my haircut at 2:06 PM. I told Heidi what I wanted and she asked detailed questions making sure I was happy with the length on top and sides before she got started. She then proceeded to cut my hair, and had great conversation along the way. She was really easy to talk to. She shampooed my hair and styled it to make sure it was up to her own standards, which I greatly appreciated. The cut cost $30 not including gratuity. Overall, I highly recommend this salon and Heidi in particular. I will certainly be back. read more

Booked an appointment at the women's salon for a trim to give my hair more of a shape as I'm growing it. My regular stylist at a different place was not available and I had a good experience getting a trim here as a walk-in in the past. The stylist seemed receptive to my requests which were only take off a minimal amount of length and add some long layers for for movement and to avoid the front looking shorter than the back. The stylist said she understood, suggested the best length for the shortest point of the layers which I agreed with. When she started cutting, I was a bit surprised that she had me turned to the side so I could not see in the mirror but thought since she encouraged me to be as specific about my likes and dislikes as possible, it would be no cause for concern. When she was done, she turned me around and while overall, this is an ok enough haircut, the real problem is that she had taken off way more in length than I had asked for. She seemed happy with the result, assured me I would love it as I continue to grow it out, meaning, she did hear that I was not looking to make a significant change in length. I was too taken aback to say anything, thanked her, paid and left. My hair had no split ends and is healthy and there was no need for three+ inches to come off. I am really annoyed that it's at the inconvenient place around the clavicle where it bumps against the shoulders and needs more time for styling. This was the phase I was so happy to have gotten past. I thought that saying explicitly that I am growing my hair and only want minimal change in the longest part of my hair aside from the layers would be clear enough of a request but the feeling I have now is that the stylist ultimately just did what she wanted. She talked as if she knows what she's doing, commented that I have natural waves and she'd work with that but alas, the fact that waves mean that the hair will go up seems to have eluded her. Not cutting more than the customer requests is such as fundamental skill and should not be difficult to follow. Salon is clean and people seem nice but needless to say, I will not be going back. read more

I gave this establishment the lowest rating not because the stylists are poor, indeed they are excellent, but rather in the hope that this review may encourage the management to reconsider how their clients are treated. In the spring of 2023, I made an appointment over the phone, and arrived on time, only to be told that yes, they recalled my calling, but someone had not logged it into the computer, and they had given my time with my stylist to someone else. Why I was tossed out with no apology and not the other person, I did not know. This disrupted my afternoon and took another block of time later to come back for a cut. Then the week before Christmas 2023, I recieved an email reminder for my appointment which often I make ahead of time and indeed it was about time for a haircut. I then confirmed the appointment when a text message reminder came. Arriving again on time, I was given a very bizarre explanation that while indeed the reminders were sent to me, that by mistake, they had used my name for someone else and again I had to leave. I had organized my day's schedule around this, and I left quite angry over my treatment and the significant time yet again lost. I had been a long-time client and generously tipped with my stylist, so the offer of a free cut at some other time or cut with someone else was much too little to assuage my feelings. I have not gotten any apology or phone call asking me to come back. If the management wishes to keep long time clients, they must avoid such mistakes. If this does happen, a significant apology is certainly due, not just a free cut which is worth much less than the hours I lost. The fact that this happened to me two times in the same year led me find another salon. read more

Had my haircut with Evgeniya today. The best haircut I've ever got!!! She is very professional, personal and talented hairstylist! For the first time I enjoyed the whole process. My hair was not pulled hard, was not burnt with the blow dryer and hair wash was very relaxing. Haircut turned out amazing!!! Exactly what I wanted! My husband and I have been in and out of several salons during our years in Durham and Chapel Hill and without hesitation Edge surpasses them all for customer service, cleanliness, leading "edge" stylists. The owner, Heather, is always on site to greet customers and to make them feel at home. I was in there on a very cold day and Heather offered me coffee but had no cream. She walked out of her business to Breakaway Cafe and got me some. I was flabbergasted by such customer service. My husband and I go to Jesse and she is terrific. My husband had some surgery that involved his scalp and Jesse cuts his hair in such a way that you could never tell. We think Edge is the best salon in the area and recommend it to everyone. read more

I decided to give this salon a try because I just cut my hair super short from having it long and my regular stylist is so tightly booked there'd be no way she could fit me in on a 3 to 4 week rotation to keep this really short hair in shape. So, I looked up places here on Yelp and after seeing their many satisfied FEMALE customer reviews, decided to give it a try. I was given an appt with Dawn a few days out from my call and she did a fantastic job! Additionally, the owner, Heather, was so welcoming and gave me a full tour of their new wellness expansion, which is beautiful with many great offerings. I am very picky about where I get my hair cut. I'm lucky to have a full head of hair at my age, and I will go far out of my way to avoid chop shops, so much so that for the past 2 years while I was commuting to Boston from RDU, I would get my hair cut by my favorite barbershop in Boston (Tweed) because here in the Triangle I simply have not found anything other than chop shops, "sports cut" places, and women's salons. I've yet to get a haircut here in NC that matches what I get up north. And since I was a wee lad, I went to barbershops with my pop. So again, my expectations are high. I'm really not a snob about this (or maybe I am), but those high expectations are also reasonable. So anyway, after receiving a direct mail piece from Edge, and keeping it handy, I went in for a haircut yesterday - not even 5 minutes from my new house. They've only been open for a little over a week or so, but it looks terrific - a twist and nod to traditional and old school barbershop. Great Aveda men's products on display and for sale, the owner, Heather, was very friendly and accommodating, and the staff there at the time were all just as friendly and accommodating. My hair was cut by Yauheniya, who was a lot of fun; we were cracking each other up. Most importantly, the cut was perfection. She asked me what I wanted, of course, listened and understood, but I also let her make suggestions and be free to do what she, as a professional, has in mind. And she did. Yauheniya's attention to detail was evident, immediately, right away; she didn't just plug-in the electric clippers and go to town, like I'm a poodle with a pet groomer (yes, that's how low the bar is for most places). She was very meticulous with the lines and fades, and a total pro with the sheers and clippers. And don't you hate leaving with clippings all over your forehead, in your ears, on your neck, down your shirt, etc? And that's often a test for me. Edge passed the test with an A+. Got a nice shampoo and conditioning after the cut, a hot towel on the face, and otherwise cleaned and brushed off. I found almost no clippings at all on me when I left, not on my neck, in my ears, and had no discomfort down my back in the hours after the cut. So yeah, very thorough from start to finish. OK you get the idea. This area of Chapel Hill and Chatham County really needs places like this, and Veranda is bringing it. Best of all, it's all small businesses, locally owned. Edge will do very well, as long as they continue to deliver a high quality cut and fun, enjoyable customer experience, even after the honeymoon of their opening days, weeks and months. If they can do that, maintain high quality (which takes time - good cuts, the whole experience does take time) and avoid the gravity of being a chop shop, Edge will do very well, and can count on me, "one hundred" (as they now call me), as a long time and loyal customer. read more
