I could write this review in 3 words... Small Town Service. People who grew up in a small town typically knew the one mechanic to go to for great service, fair prices and an honest assessment of the service to be performed. That mechanic would come out to greet you when you entered the shop while wiping his or her hands with a rag. You would be greeted by name, after you'd been there a time or two, and you would have a quick conversation, not to talk about the repairs to be done but just to catch up. Well friends, this is that mechanic in Liberty Hill. His name is JD. My truck is 12 years old and has started having things go awry that are simply due to age and long use. I've bounced around from shop to shop hoping to find a mechanic like JD. I've visited those shops you walk into only to be greeted by one of the sales guys who are simply there to inflate the number of repairs that are needed and to convince you their high prices are justified. You get none of that from JD. He asks for the symptoms of the problem and then he gives a quick assessment of the problem based on his years of experience vehicles similar to yours. On my first visit I immediately knew he understood the specific problem with my truck because he'd personally made the same repair many times. Probably the best compliment I can give JD is this is a shop my Dad would have taken his car to for service. He would have appreciated the simple, honest relationship he could have with him knowing he could count on him to take care of his vehicle quickly and efficiently. That's my experience. We just moved to Liberty Hill from Colorado and needed tire rotations on both cars. Since we try hard to use local businesses where we live, we contacted Davis Tire & Automotive to see if they could accommodate us. JD was very friendly and told me we could drop one car off and they'd get it done by the end of the day. We dropped our Chevy off and JD said he'd call when it was done. About an hour later he called to tell me it was ready, and if I wanted could drop the other car off and they'd get it done as well. Long story short is that the great service and handshake after paying the very reasonable bill has made us huge fans of JD and his team. From tires to brake cylinders to power steering to ball joints, JD's team has supported my old Ford Excursion and my wife's fancy-schmancy Volvo. He suggested I check first and even call dealer - turns out I DID have warranty. Dealer (RR Hyundai) wouldn't help me & wanted me to wait 2 weeks. Called Warranty Co and they said any tire store ok. So went back to JD, he ordered tire (got it next day & installed), + lower price than dealer, & he worked with Warranty Co for me. Honest and solid company - definitely recommend! We have a warranty for our tire and was told by our dealership that this shop would work with the twarranty we have. When we called, not only did we have to call four times in a row because they phone line was busy for some reason, but the person who answered was rude and dismissive saying "I don't work with no warranty people" as if we had just offended him by asking him to do his job, you only have one job, bro, it's tires, then they told us that it would take at least a weekTo get a tire replacedTalking as if I've never had a tire replaced before. I called around all over Austin when looking for new tires and discovered that the best place to get tires was right here in Liberty Hill. Competitive pricing, great quality parts and equipment and tires, great service, they have it all. Also there is a fine Mexican restraint next to it where you can go eat while they fix your car. It is also next door to a good dentist ... you can walk to both from the shop. JD runs a friendly, professional, and quite capable automotive shop. My truck's rotors were shot and my tires were out of balance resulting in a good bit of vibration in the cab, through the wheel and brake pedal. The shaking of the truck was getting pretty bad! My wife was giving me the evil eye to go take care of it so that's exactly what I did! After having his team do brakes, tire balance and rotation, it drives smooth and brakes with authority now. Davis Tire and automotive. Awesome Last winter my tires were low, as with every winter. I came by and they aired them up for me. For the last few months I've been having a problem with my car door making a loud popping noise every time I opened or closed it. The bolt that holds the door on was loose and you need a specialty tool to tighten it. I dropped by today to see if he could give me a price and I could bring it back next week. J.D. took the time to come out and tighten up for me. No more noise!!! No charge for either visit. When I had JD put tires and my car and service the AC in February he was honest that he could not find the leak in the AC and although he charged the Freon it would likely leak out. He only charged me for the Freon and dye, no labor since he knew it was a temporary thing. Fast forward to this month when as he expected the Freon had already leaked and I had to bring it back to beat summer. This time he found the leak, unfortunately it was the condenser. He asked me to call the dealer and be sure it wasn't under warranty because my car has 55k miles and just my luck a 50k bumper to bumper warranty. I had him get the part and he was done at 10:30 the next day, on two repairs now he has been very fast minimizing any inconvenience. But what really floored me was when I picked it HE apologized it was a costly repair and that I had to bring it back because he couldn't find the leak the first time. He took the time to explain why it was labor intensive, I believed the cost he gave was fair and expected. A coworker had the same issue on her car (different make/model) and the dealer was over $1,000 more and took four days so I was happy with the cost but him apologizing and explaining was appreciated. As a woman I am always skeptical about being taken advantage of, I know enough about cars to see through BS with them but I am positive I will never need to worry about that with JD! His customer service is above and beyond, he will have my business as long as we both are in the area. read more

I guess since 1 star is the lowest that will have to do. They may sell tires but they DO NOT sell customer service! Based on the other reviews these people did not have the same employee that I had to deal with. In summary I no longer live in the area but had heard they were great so when I was west of Bertram my low tire light had come on. I limped into Liberty Hill to this "great business" as it just started to sprinkle. It was the lunch hour and I was greeted (NOT) by a man that was sitting in the chair behind the counter eating a burger. I asked if someone could check my front tire as I thought it was going flat. Without standing up or putting down the burger I was told "all of my tire guys are at lunch and when they get back they have 4 (I think) flats to fix and another set of tires". "Can you come back in about 2 hours"? Before I could break into tears I told him I did not live in town and could not wait 2 hours. I asked if there was somewhere else I could go to get my tire looked at? He told me, still seated there was another tire place on the other side of Liberty Hill before Cimarron. I understand everyone gets and deserves a lunch and that our society has made men shy of treating women like ladies and needing some help but really? My daughter got a bad air-conditioner looked at by the Ford dealer and another "reputable" local shop. Both estimated the repair would cost about $1700. She is a broke recent graduate so $1700 was a no-go. Knew these folks through Liberty Hill baseball so we tried them. The repair was completed for $500. While there seems to be few honest car repair places, these folks are not a part of that crooked group. These are honest folks that do a good job for a fair price. read more
