She's too young for candy, so I took the opportunity to wander into some of the shops and the first of those was Vase & Vessel. I've wanted to stop in but haven't had the chance, and I'm glad I did today. The proprietors were friendly, one giving out candy and the other helping customers. They have some nice home decor here as well as very healthy plants. I almost bought a parlor palm to replace Bertha, the one that I killed several months back. I might actually be back because they had some nice full ones that maybe I would be less like to kill quite as soon--or at least, maybe it would grow more before I do. I bought a candle called a Locality Candle. They're kind of cool! There are different scents for various neighborhoods. I chose the Lincoln Square candle since I live in the "Is it Uptown or is it Lincoln Square?" section of Ravenswood. Whilst ringing it up, the owner asked if I picked it for the scent or the location. It was actually both, but probably more the scent; it has a nice fall smell of apple and spice, in recognition of Apple Fest, which is one of Lincoln Square's most popular festival. Whether you're on the lookout for a plant, a nice gift, or something for yourself, this is a good place to stop.

You'll find all kinds of stuff here: clothing, jewelry, artwork, food, and so on. There are two floors, a mezzanine level between the first and second floor, and then a little "loft" area above the second floor. One thing I really like about AG is that you aren't making individual purchases with each merchant; there's a single checkout at the very front of the store and then they sort it all out on the back end. The merchant stalls don't usually have the creator there unless they're restocking or maybe they're doing some sort of special event. There's a small changing room since there are several booths that have clothing. It can be a little cramped in here, so I'm not sure how easily someone with mobility issues/wheelchair users might be able to navigate it, but there is a lift (though I think it requires help from the staff to use). There's no parking dedicated to this business, so it's all street parking or you can use the bus, of course. And it's Andersonville, so parking goes really quickly unless you are here in the morning.

I noticed the cat did not have a collar on and decided to quickly take her to the nearest vet to get scanned for a chip. Luckily, the cat did have a chip and the owner was notified. The vet told me the owner did not seem concerned and said the cat was an outdoor cat, but that they would come pick her up from the office. I was told I had to stay with the cat until the owner arrived. I waited at the vet's office for over an hour with the cat, and the owner arrived just minutes before the office closed. I explained to the owner that the cat was in the intersection and at risk of being hit, so I thought it was the right thing to do to get her scanned for a chip and try to contact the owner. The owner immediately became defensive and said, "Well she's an outdoor cat. She goes by the trees." I again explained that she was not by the trees, but instead right next to the intersection and at risk of being hurt or killed. The owner rolled her eyes at me and left with her cat. I later realized that the owner of this cat is one of the owners of Alchemy Arts, her name is Dayna. It's incredibly irresponsible to let your cat roam freely outside next to such a busy intersection. After further digging, it also appears that Marie the cat was attacked by a dog while roaming outside in 2025 and has gone missing for days before -- further evidence that this cat should not be outdoors for her own safety.

This very tiny shop has a variety of items that would be perfect if you need to pick up a gift for someone. They have candles, greeting cards, jewelry, and several baby items. I ended up buying a cute little onesie that has is designed to look like the Chicago flag but with hearts in place of the stars. it's so cute and I can't wait to put it on my little ones. They had several other onesies that were cute. I mentioned to the shopkeeper that I wanted to get a little bean onesie, and she mentioned they carry them but they sell out so quickly and the woman who she gets them from is backed up in stock. It makes sense to me because they're adorable! I didn't realize they had them here so it's good I could pick it up from here if I can't find it elsewhere. Parking is on the street BUT you're in luck because the Brown Line station is half a block away. There's also street parking on Damen and possibly the surrounding streets (not sure, but because it's near a train station I'd suspect it might be permit parking on the side streets).

My only frustration was trying to reach someone but the AI agent was all I got. After a few missed connections I finally made an appointment for Sunday afternoon with Cyntisha. She was very professional and explained what dermaplane actually was and i decided against it. I got a Facial with eye mask and LEd light for skin stimulation and collagen production. It was a very relaxing experience and I appreciate the massage given by Cyntisha . I will be back if I see some deals . I'd driven by a few times and wasn't sure if it was coming soon or if it was a shop I somehow hadn't known was there. Thank god it wasn't something I'd missed. We stopped in on Renegade weekend and my friend and I both made appointments with Cyntisha for later in the week. It was her warmth, friendliness, and personality that got me--my relationship with my esthetician is one of the longest I've ever had; I've been seeing her for over 15 years, so seeing another is just not something I've really thought about. I'm a girl who LOVES a good facial and is a sucker for skincare. Facials are easily my favorite act of self care and probably the most reliably perfect gifts one could get me. I've gotten them on vacation to try new technology and experience others' technique. So maybe you see why I was looking forward to it! This facial was incredibly soothing and relaxing. Cyntisha asked me some questions about my skin routine and products, then left to prepare a few things whilst I prepared myself. She talked me through some of the steps she was taking and explained what she was seeing when analyzing my skin. I tried microdermabrasion for the first time and it wasn't anything like I was expecting because I expected it to hurt or otherwise be unpleasant but extractions can hurt more (and I actually enjoy extractions when necessary). The products felt great; there was one that was peppermint and was really energizing, which was nice to have at the beginning before the more soothing moments. Everything just glided over my skin like silk. She did some lymph massage, which I'm not sure I've ever had. This may have made the most dramatic difference. I was truly astonished when I saw after we finished up--wow, do I actually have that defined a jawline and cheekbones? Cyntisha has a firm, confident style that really made the facial great; she's skilled at using just the right amount of pressure and repetition that made the tension in my face and body melt away. It was luxurious, quiet, and serene. And honestly, as a mother of a 10 month old who's all about her mommy, quiet moments are few and far between for me at the moment (mama loves ya baby!). My face was literally glowing when I was done. I wish I took better photos so I could have gotten a picture worthy of it; I felt fantastic and beautiful. I feel bad about it but I'll probably be cheating on my main esthy from time to time. Because of the kiddo it's really hard to visit her when it takes 30 minutes minimum each way, especially when there's a nonpareil spa a mile from my home. There seems to be two entrances, one for the spa and one the main store--but I don't see how they'd know you were there if you used the spa entrance, so I went into the shop and the owner showed me to the spa waiting area. The store is super clean and sophisticated. It's easy to shop. Not just easy, but pleasant, because everything is so beautifully displayed. They carry "clean" beauty brands, and though that's what I generally use these were all new to me. Prices on the skincare aren't bad though, at least not what I bought; no need to pay Tata Harper prices because they carry some opulent but reasonably priced, high-quality products. A little will go a long way, and I'm willing to pay for a good moisturizer, and as I described to Cyntisha, I only want to wear one that feels weightless and not sticky, like water. So hopefully the Osea Seabiotoc water cream will fit that profile. I haven't even yet explored the floral aspect of the shop. But from what was available the first time I stopped, in its top tier. The store is pretty accessible; no steps to get in or out. Parking is...well, Andersonville. It depends on what time you're going and how far you're willing to park, if you need to drive. Go you must, but just don't book the place so full that I can't get in every few months, okay?
