What a fun boutique gift shop! For a small place, this spot has A LOT!! Chicago items, home decor, clothing, accessories, baby and kids gifts and greeting cards. Front to back and top to bottom there is stuff!! I have purchased many gifts for others and for myself here. Great for birthday or holiday items. Seasonal things change often. The unique and quirky inventory is super fun. There are great opportunities to give that unexpected gift. The guy behind the desk was friendly and nice. I'm not sure if he is the owner or an employee but he gave us prices on items and answered our questions. Parking can be a little tricky but it can be done. There's a bus stop nearby so that makes it pretty easy to get there. The neighborhood has a ton of restaurants so if you are in the neighborhood for other reasons, it's worth it to stop in. read more

This is a neat gift shop. A lot of selection. Everything from your standard Chicago T-shirts to metal ashtrays of the state of Illinois made in Japan, to postcards, books, and other doodads. I myself got a T-shirt for myself, a coin plate for my sister, and...something else nice, and I got out of there for 55 bucks. It's not *cheap*, but I wouldn't say it was overpriced, either. It's pretty spot-on for that neighborhood. Also, the dude who runs the place--I sincerely wish I could remember his name--was really cool. Cute little store. I stopped in on my way to dinner with a friend. A nice selection of gifts and greeting cards. Lots of cute baby gifts and onesies with darling sayings. A little on the pricey side for baby clothes though. Definitely more gifts than every day shopping. A decent selection of funny cards and books. Not your average kids books, definitely worth a peek next time you need a baby gift for the less traditional parents. Good prices on sale items. This is one of my favorite places to buy cards and/or random gifts for people. They have a lot of unique things that are made locally. They have a great selection of things for babies and small kids- perfect if you have to pick up a gift to bring new parnts (which I seem to need to do on a weekly basis). They have quirky/funny cards that people always get a kick out of. The owner (at least I think the guy who is usually manning the register is the owner) is so friendly and helpful and is great about letting you return stuff. They don't do gift receipts but they have a small inventory so you can bring things back without a hassle. They often have sales here so it is worth stopping in when looking for something different for a special someone (or youself). read more

This is the cutest little freaking place. Not an average cheesey gift shop, they have vintage stuff and plenty of decor that I put in my own home. The owner is so so nice and treats you like a friend every time you walk in. The only thing I would say is that they are a bit expensive. But worth it! read more

4.5 stars! I was doing some Christmas shopping in Lincoln park for an hour or so before an appointment I had. I wasn't sure if I'd find anything, but Lincoln Park tends to be a great neighborhood to "wander" in. I ended up walking by Climate and I'm so glad I went in! They had a large selection of interesting/cute items and pretty decent prices....a lot of the kitch in the store can be found elsewhere (Urban Outfitters) but if it's not cheaper here at least it's a small, local chain vs. a conservative-funding national chain. The store clerk was friendly and the music was even great. It's a small store (typical of the neighborhood) and parking (street) can be difficult at best-but take the time to wander through-you never know what you will find that you MUST have :) Go here for signs, magnets, ornaments, books, candles, and more! read more

Sadly, I will NEVER EVER shop here again. The owner is mean and horrible and a bigot! As I walked into the store, I hear the shop owner shooing a latino family out of the store saying "If you're not going to buy anything don't touch anything. I can't have you in here". I then witness him getting very angry with a latina customer (who did not speak english) - telling her that she wasn't allowed to touch anything. Each time she asked him how much something cost, he replied "no, you can't touch that." He then goes on to say "sorry, I'm closing the store, you can't be in here anymore. (It was 1 hour before the store actually closed)" When I questioned him about his horrible behavior he says "She's been in here for over an hour and she is touching everything and keeps trying to barter down the price with me. Do you know how many times I was shop lifted last week?" I ask him "Do you really think she is trying to shoplift from you? Is that you how you treat all your customers? " I told him I was appalled by his awful behavior and that he would never have my business... and that I would write a bad review and spread the word. I am so embarrassed to have this business in my neighborhood. Please save your money and go up the street to Four Sided Gifts. They have a way better selection of cards and novelties and they are super nice to EVERYONE! read more

I have loved stopping by this store for a cute card or baby outfit but recently had an experience that literally had me running out of the store. I saw a cool, wooden horse head that I was considering buying for my house and went to take a picture to mull it over. The clerk stopped me and said the artist didn't allow pictures. I was confused and said, really?? He told me the artist didn't want people to steal her livelihood. I have never heard of this policy in a store (an art gallery, yes). I said that I was considering buying it for my house. He then went on to tell me how " people like me often say that and they never do they just take pictures without asking." He was so snarky that I told him maybe that didn't buy things because of his lovely personality and marched out. Unfortunately, he took a cute store and marred it with his combative personality. I love stopping into Climate! There used to be other locations, but I believe this is the only one left. (My mom was smitten with a wrought iron planter at the Climate off of Armitage a couple years ago and the employees were helpful when I later went to get it as a surprise gift for her, but last I saw that location was empty.) I love browsing the cards here---lots of funny and unique cards. I found some fun "lotto" books for a bride-to-be at her bachelorette. There are lots of fun bachelorette-themed gifts and party ideas here, but nothing too risque. Lots of random fun books and gifts. I once found a ticket stub album---great for a pack-rat saver like me. :) It's one of those stores that you never know what you might find. I guarantee you can find a fun gift for a friend, mother, sister here. There's also a fair amount of baby gifts---clothes, accessories, etc.---but it can be a little expensive for stuff that the tyke will outgrow in about 5 minutes. read more

Randomly walked into this store and was pleasantly surprised with the stuff they sold. I bought a scarf for my husband and for myself. It was 2 for $30 so I came up on a scarf. Score!!! The business cards here are cute, they have batman on the back. My cousin would like that. All sales are final here, exchanges ok. I walked into this place last week and saw a lot of cute things. Some are truly vintage, some just made to look like it. I did like the store, but it was a bit pricey. I overheard the person behind the counter tell someone else that it was pricier because most of it is locally made. That's right. He told someone *else.* It was like I wasn't even in the store at all until I checked out. Even then he barely acknowledged me. I dunno, maybe he doesn't like girls with red hair and cute green dresses who like cupcakes, but I was in that store alone for not quite 5 minutes and he didn't say a word to me the entire time. Perfectly chatty with the person in before me, and even chatty with the couple that came in after (and bought nothing, mind you) me. I'll go back at some point I'm sure, and maybe he'll chat with me or I'll find something I really like and update the stars. Until then, they earn their 3 stars. A nice local shop that sells cute items like beanies, scarves, mementos, souvenirs, cards, art, children items. They have a great little children's section that has books and clothing and toys. The owner is always so kind and positive. I always feel so welcomed here. I bring my friends and husband with so they can browse through. I recently purchased an amazing art picture of the Chicago Cubs. That's what originally caught my eye about this store was the selection of Cubs memorabilia. I have a problem with collecting knick-knacky types of "stuff". I have at least 50 shot glasses, post-it note cubes from every event I've been to, at least 20 Yelpsticks and a multitude of assorted swag, and roughly 10 shoeboxes full of notepads, buttons, stickers, toy cars, keychains, and anything else. Call me a borderline hoarder, but you never know if you'll need these things someday! But since I have everything, I have made it my new mission to buy fun Chicago gifts and trinkets for my friends and family back home. Lately I've been running out of ideas for Chicago-style gifts, and so I randomly popped in here on a walk last week to check out what they had. I think the homefront is tired of getting Chicago pizza, popcorn, and my attempts to impose my school spirit on them with another college t-shirt. Climate Home place is my new savior! A sampling of what I saw in the store includes vintage (higher than thrift store quality) t-shirts at $3 a pop, vintage product advertisement signs, super cool Chicago posters on the cheap, fun do-it-yourself books for adults and learning books for the kiddies, and, my favorite thing of all... SLAP BRACELETS! Oh how I have waited for the slap bracelet fad to make a roaring comeback!!! Everything is pretty reasonably priced, too, so load up on some goodness and be sure to share it with the ones you love. Places like this are dangerous for someone like me and it takes all I can not to buy myself anything. The store is packed tightly, so it's hard to navigate, and there doesn't seem to be any organization of items. But you'll always find something that will catch your eye.
