My son has been a patient here since before he turned 1. He was born with fluid in his lungs and was in the nicu for a week before he came home. I wasn't happy with our original pediatrician so we made the switch and up until today, I was very satisfied. Despite some insurance issues, I was met with scoffs and treated like dirt after I told them I didn't have the cash to pay for my son to be seen. The in-house doctor mentioned ASTHMA, about a child who was born with fluid in his lungs, and THEY STILL TURNED HIM AWAY. I am floored and utterly disappointed and sickened. After discovering new ownership has taken over in recent months, this all makes sense. Welcome to the new America, where citizens are put through hell and high water to get their family the healthcare they need. I brought my daughter to Edgewood last week for a persistent cough she'd had since before Christmas and specifically asked for her to be flu tested. Dr. Gendelman completely dismissed her symptoms and told us she wasn't "sick enough" to test. Once again, the only recommendation was to give Benadryl to "dry it up." Her symptoms continued to worsen, and today I had to take her to urgent care, where she tested positive for what they called "super flu." As a parent, it's incredibly upsetting to feel unheard when advocating for your child--especially when it turns out something serious was missed. The level of care at this practice has clearly changed, and it no longer feels like sick children are taken seriously. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend this office based on our recent experience. read more

Love love love Edgewood Pediatrics! Everyone is absolutely amazing! I have been taking my kids here for 11 years. All the front desk ladies are absolutely amazing. Christina and the other ladies are easy to communicate with and are extremely helpful. Today Christina helped me with a script that was written and huron valley hospital wanted it a certain way so Christina made it happen. Just for Huron Valley hospital not be able to get my daughter in until 6 weeks from now. Called the office again and Christina was again amazing and helped me again by giving me Information on another facility and thankfully I was able to schedule my daughter to be sooner than Huron Valley! Also all the ladies who check you in and out are always amazing. All the doctors are amazing. We usually see Dr. Deb, Melissa and or Dr. Gendelman who are all amazing and so helpful. They truly take their time to examine your kids and explain everything to both parents and child. So thankful for everyone in this office from the front desk, to the nurses and the doctors. I see Melissa and she is always listening to my opinions and what's wrong with me. I've never walked out of this office not feeling heard or helped. This place my children have been going for years. What I'm posting is 100 percent true and accurate. My one child is 21 and has been seen here since she was born. Today they advised her that she had a $300 balance she owed and until she pays it she will not get her medication renewed that she needs and is about to expire. Rude; Our account was funky and the DR asked if the father was still around and that we owed a lot of money BEFORE treating her cough that he ended up brushing it off as nothing. The staff is mostly nice and does what they need to. But they placed money before wellness. Just pay your fees and they will be nice to you. read more

I've taken my son to this office for 19 years. We've had a variety of medical needs. Two involved unrelated surgeries for my son as well as long term medicinal management for the bulk of those 19 years. And, of course, all the other usual childhood ailments over the years - ear infections, sore throats, vaccinations, etc. We've had excellent, professional service from Dr. Gendelman as well as several other members of his staff over the years. We've been provided all the referrals and recommendations needed for all my son's medical needs. I wish all my experiences with the healthcare industry were as consistent and reliable as Edgewood Center Pediatrics. read more

One of the physicians in this group saw my newborn right after delivery at Huron Valley, so we stuck with the group for followup visits out of convenience. While I actually liked the physicians ok (maybe give them a 3 out of 5) the staff and protocol at the office is awful. Nurses took very little care in addressing patients, definitely did not connect with the children the way you'd like to see in a pediatrics office. Calling my son a "she" after specifically being told it's boy. Rattling off 3 patients' room assignments in one loud sentence. Nurse not carefully reading the chart resulting in the doctor stripping down and re-weighing my newborn. Newborns love to be cold and naked and isolated on a scale... For both of the two appointments with my newborn, I was seen by a nurse, briefly by P.A., then even more briefly by an MD. Not the type of care and face time with a new pediatrician I'm looking for. Every interaction with the staff was curt, impatient, and reminiscent of a cattle call. Happy to have switched to another practice closer to home. read more

I would give negative stars if you could. We moved to the area this summer and was in need of doctors for our two children. Now I know why everyone had a wait list and they did not. We now have seen three different doctors at this practice and left on all occasions, extremely angry by the lack of care and basic knowledge. I have never written a review but this place needs to be avoid at all costs. Dr. Gentlemen was the worse, an arrogant jerk. Even my son left frustrated and said I will never go back there. For sick visits an exam was not even done, looking down throats, in ears, etc. No medication was given. My son needs a referral to a specialist and I was told he dose not write referrals it's a waste of his time, just keep calling and tell the specialist that he said it was okay to see him. All the doctors are standing around, you can get in anytime of the day for a reason. Save your frustration and avoid taking your children here!! read more

We came to Edgewood when my daughter was born. I had selected the practice while pregnant and Dr. Ober happened to be the physician on call during our hospital stay. We liked her immediately and she has seen our daughter for every well visit since she was born. That being said, I received a phone call from the office manager the other day informing me that Dr. Ober was no longer with the practice and my daughter would see a new doctor for her two year well visit. Well crap. I've said to my husband after every encounter with Edgewood's front office staff how much I really disliked dealing with them. Simply put, they are cold, unpleasant, curt, and borderline rude. Dr. Ober is the only reason I put up with it, but I loath every phone call, check in and check out. Two weeks ago we had to take our daughter in for her first sick visit. Over a week with the croup she wasn't getting better and we decided to take her in. We had to see Dr. Gannon. She was fine during the exam. Not brimming with personality but she did her thing and declared it a cold and said let it run its coarse. She began writing in our daughters chart and fell silent for several minutes. She closed the chart, stood up, complained to my husband that they had to write a long complicated diagnosis for a simple cold and then walked out of the room. I guess we were done. 4 weeks later my daughter is still coughing. So I'm done. I did a Google search for Dr. Ober and found her at Pediatric Care Corner. I called and scheduled our daughter for her 2 year well visit with no problem. Made my last call to Edgewood and quite frankly could not be happier I won't have to deal with the office staff again. The two stars are for the nurses and physicians assistants who were, for the most part, really great. read more

I had an issue with office staff, billing my insurance without my consent, as my ex husband brought my daughter in (not even 48hrs after I had her at office and he is not authorized) I've emailed, left several messages talked to other staff and have yet to get a response... I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews. I have been going to this clinic for 3 1/2 years since my daughter was born. Of all of the visits, we've only waited more than 5 minutes twice. They are so quick to call you back and get you seen. I've also called the nurses line at least 10 times and always received a call back within 10 minutes. They are always so helpful when they return the call. If your child is sick and needs to be seen they get you right in. I called at 445 on afternoon and they got my daughter in that evening. It turned out she was very sick and had to go to the hospital. Dr. Gendleman went above and beyond by calling me while we were at the hospital to see how she was doing. He also stayed in close contact with the specialist from the hospital. I definitely would recommend this clinic to anyone. Several of my friends go here as well. read more

I've had issues with this facility for a while now. I finally decided to seek out a new pediatrician after my experience here with my 14 month old son. This was the second time bringing him in for a rash. Our first visit I was told it was viral, that it should go away on its own and that it was safe to continue taking him to daycare. Fast forward about a week. I pick him up from daycare (Friday) and his face is covered in a horrible rash. The daycare also notified the parents that same day that the children may have been exposed to impetigo and hand, foot, and mouth. By Saturday morning it has spread to his arms, legs, and bottom. I immediately schedule an appointment to get him in. I met with a doctor I was not familiar with (the rotation of new doctors in and out of here is absolutely ridiculous). I told her that he has possibly been exposed to both the impetigo and hand, foot, and mouth at daycare. She checked him out for maybe five minutes and came to the conclusion that it was most definitely a yeast rash; wrote out a script and went on her merry way. I wasn't convinced. I immediately started researching other pediatricians in my area. Found one right up the street with great reviews! Filled out all of the new patient forms. Called them Monday morning. They were able to get him in early that afternoon. Doctor and staff were super nice, very knowledgeable and didn't speak to me like I was an idiot (as I've experienced many of them do at Edgewood). And guess what the diagnosis was? Impetigo AND hand, foot, and mouth. KABLAM! Yes, I was super pissed for obvious reasons but relieved that we finally have a proper diagnosis. He's responding great to the new prescriptions. Will not be returning to Edgewood. read more

I love (most) of the doctors at Edgewood. Like the other reviewers, I've struggled with their office staff before. Calls don't always get returned, directions for information or paperwork don't get followed. Let's just say if you need something besides seeing a doctor, it's pretty difficult to get it correctly and in a timely fashion. Usually I just give up or actually drive to their office to make sure it's done right. Really frustrating for an already busy parent :( If I didn't love Dr. Purman so much I'd probably switch to a different clinic. read more

We are new to the area and received numerous recommendations. I really like the PA but our first appointment was my baby's 18 month well baby and we were there for over 2.5 hours. Today was suppose to be a quick weight re check and after waiting for 15 min in the waiting room and 35 more minutes for the doctor to come in I finally gave up. I guess I value my time too much to sit there and wait for more than 50 minutes. (My baby was weighed by the nurse and had gained weight so I wasn't concerned) I'll find another office that values it's patients time. read more

I have never been a patient nor have my children at this office. I'm actually use to be a medical assistant for this office. It was my first job after graduating from my medical assisting school. I was so happy to be hired in at a pediatrics office because that was always the type of patients I wanted to take care of. But let me tell you this...... After the experience I had at that office I would NEVER recommend anyone to that office. The doctors are rude with exception of one of the female doctors. But she is no longer working for that office either. The girls working at the front desk are rude,disrespectful, and so unorganized I don't how any new hire could stand a day in such a busy and uncomfortable environment with terrible staff and management. I was trained by a women named Rochelle that had been working for Dr.G for 15 years, so you'd think she would know how to train a new employee? She was probably the worst person by far I had the unfortunate opportunity to be trained by. She never wore gloves when handling any type of specimens. But being fresh out of school I new other then the Hippa laws wearing gloves at all times when handling any type of specimen is 100% to be worn at all times. So I asked her when she was doing a cbc on a child.. Aren't you suppose to be wearing gloves when you handle blood or type of bodily fluids? Her reply was... no you always have to. I was in total shock! I looked at her and said... well I'll just stick to what I learned in school and always wear them. She just said it's really up to you. She was always so critical of patients and the patients parents. To thier faces and behind thier backs. She was very mean and rude to me and always complained when she had to trained me. They all paper type of office so charts are so large it make charting vitals a nightmare especially when there are 5 kids per family. They are all in the same folder. It's nuts. Patients complained all the time. Those doctors are way to rude and so quick with the patients because they are always so busy. Too many patients for doctors like them to handle. And they can't keep a good group of staff for anything because the lack of communication, respect and empathy, and willingness to actually care if any patient or employee would return another day. I saw parents that had been waiting in the exam rooms get up and leave with thier children because they were treated badly or had been waiting forever for the doctors to come in. Some parents wouldn't even make it to a room and would leave sitting in the waiting room an hour past there appointment time. Everyday I had to get up and force myself t ok go work at that place. I always felt so uncomfortable and awkward and not liked by almost every one in that office. But I put on a happy face and tried to do my part as an Ma and make the kids and parents aittle less unhappy about being there and giving them the respect and attention and care they deserved and pay for. So being on the inside I DO NOT recommend anyone go to this office unless you wanna deal with more then a sick child, or a well visit, or just a re-check. I got fired from this place. And with a letter stating that I was unprofessional, I had poor conduct and used bad language so for that I was not a good fit for that practice. I was so upset with that letter because that was everything I'm not and everything that practice is. It's all funny now to me because I knew that I was doing a great job and I knew when I was with a patient they always smiled and said how nice it was to finally have a happy respectful well mannered person in that office. So that told me I was a treat to Rochelle and the other girls in that office. Not an unprofessional potty mouth with poor conduct. So people if they treat thier own staff like garbage and could care less to train them the right way. The legal way and safe and sanitary way. Then why would they treat the patients or the patients parents any better? So please for your child's sake go else where. read more

My kids have been going to Edgewood Pediatrics for 15 years. It used to be a great office with a caring staff. Things have really changed there. The office staff are very incompetent, the office manger is very rude and argumentative, a very bad combination. I left a couple of messages for the main doctor to discuss my issues. When he did not call back I spoke with the office manager and she told me our issue was taken care of, she said the doctors job is to take care of the patients and not office issues. One would think the doctor/head of the office would want to be involved in how his clientele are be handled. Thank goodness there are MANY other great options in the area! read more

I really was never to pleased with this office, if it wasn't for Dr. Ober I would have left awhile ago. Every time I had to see another Doctor it was a horrible experience for my child. They seemed very short and at times quite rude, dismissing my concerns about my child's health. The office staff has always been quite rude, and cold! I have seen a slow decline in the patient satisfaction, and the front end office staff is terrible, They are downright rude and unfriendly. The constant revolving physician issue is another problem. We have been very disappointed lately with Edgewood Center Pediatrics. It started back in September when I left a message about getting a copy of my daughter's immunizations. My daughter's preschool needed them to make sure she was immunized and they were up to date. I left a message and never heard back. I called back and got someone who seemed irritated that I was calling again. Strike 2: if you need a copy of your billing to submit to an FSA or for your HSA you can't get it the day you are in. They have to mail it to you which seems ridiculous. You have to pay, but don't get a detailed receipt to submit. It seemed ridiculous and I accepted it. But the final Strike: my daughter was in for a UTI. They told me to come in for a follow up clean catch urine 2 days after she was done with meds. I asked if I could just go to a lab or do it at home as it is hard to get there from Livonia. The doctor wrote me a script to be able to go to a lab. The stars all aligned and I was going to be in the area. After school I got the urine sample from my daughter and drove the sample to Edgewood. That night I get a call that says typically they do not accept dropped off urine. They want to see the patient and assess them. Why didn't they tell me that when I dropped it off- the front desk or the nurses station should have said something? My daughter was in the car with my mother-in- law. So they would be unable to do anything with the clean catch urine?! I am so angry! We will no longer go to Edgewood. How do you just dump a 4 year olds urine? It was difficult enough to get the sample. The office has totally let me down. I can not recommend this practice. Look elsewhere. Sorry Edgewood you let me down! read more

Would not recommend this office. Almost never running on time for their appointments, office manager is rude, the male doctor is always in a rush and too impatient to answer my child's questions. He also is very eager to prescribe drugs or vaccines. We've moved on to a pediatrician that has better morals, is patient and caring with a pleasant office staff. read more
