I would not recommend Edmonds Eye Care Associates to anyone. Since October, I have been waiting for a pair of eyeglasses, and the experience has been nothing but frustrating and disorganized. Initially, the optometrist made an error with my prescription, requiring me to return two weeks later for a reevaluation. I had purchased my own frames out of pocket and gave them to the office to insert the lenses. After that visit, I waited weeks for the glasses to arrive, and by the end of November, there was still no sign of them. In December, I was told the glasses had finally shipped, only to be informed later that UPS had "lost" the shipment -- including the frames I personally paid for. Because of this, I had to return yet again for another fitting about three weeks ago. I was assured the new glasses would be shipped directly to my home. Unsurprisingly, they never arrived. When I called last week, I was told there was an issue with their lab and that the glasses would be shipped as soon as possible. When I called again yesterday, I was told they were still at the lab but completed and would be shipped. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. A staff member told me a manager would call me back, but I never received a call. This has been months of delays, poor communication, repeated mistakes, and zero accountability. If you value your time, money, and sanity, save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more

I chose this clinic based on positive reviews after a bad experience elsewhere for my daughter, but unfortunately, those reviews were misleading. Before scheduling, I confirmed that my daughter met the age requirements and that the doctor treated her specific eye condition. I also offered to transfer her records in advance and was told it wasn't necessary. Six months later, just days before the appointment, the visit was rescheduled because the doctor wanted to extend a holiday break. Then, on the day of the rescheduled appointment, it was cancelled entirely. Only then was I told, after reviewing her records, that the doctor could not provide the necessary testing and was not the right specialist. This was far more than an inconvenience. The clinic wasted six months of our time and delayed my daughter's care. Had they been upfront from the start, we could have sought appropriate treatment elsewhere. My first time seeing them on November 7th...The eye exam was a typical one, the Eye doc was cool, so no complaints with him or his assistant. However the paying of my glasses in advance and being told in 2 weeks on I will have my glasses and now on December 26th I still don't have my glasses makes me wonder what is going on. I've called, left messages and no one has replied or told me why its taking so long. I can understand if there are shipping delays due to the holiday but to not tell the customer that... Incorrect Prescription dispensed by Bryan Karrick. Because of an incorrect prescription from Bryan Karrick, the eye glasses that I have been wearing for the past 2 years caused me to have frequent headaches. Upon renewal of the prescription at my regular Ophthalmologist, I mentioned that I do not wear the glasses as much as my older pair. He had the optician check the lenses and they were set up with a slight incorrect prescription. The prescription had an incorrect PRISM. The prism, since 1997 has always been IN but Bryan changed it to OUTWARD. The change was relatively negligible but builds over time to cause a slight headache over a period of hours. It was my mistake for not questioning the prescription and wearing/suffering through Bryan's mistake. Costco was willing to change the lenses (2 years later) if it was their fault. However, upon checking, they provided me with a copy of the incorrect prescription from Bryan Karrick's office. I realize it has been 2+ years but I hope folks make sure to check Bryan's work. Since it has been a couple of years, I realize, part of the responsibility was mine for not checking back with the Optometrist (Karrick). I hope this mistake is not repeated. However, I am glad to find out that if the mistake was Costco opticians, they would have rectified it, even if it was 2+ years later. Will not be returning here. Copayment and insurance was not explained to me so I was left with a large bill to pay. When I called with questions, the woman in billing was snarky and rude with me. She wouldn't let me finish talking and cut me off multiple times. Plus the doctor gave me no real help for my dry eye and brushed me off. read more

They got me in the same day I called! Dr. Karrick was so kind and so knowledgeable and treated me with the dignity and respect that I did not get from the first doctor. Thanks to Dr. Karrick, instead of getting two completely unnecessary eye surgeries I just needed a $13 antibiotic! I had my first appointment with Dr Stoebner today. What a great experience. I've recommended him to all of my coworkers. The office staff and techs were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Once Dr Stoebner completed his assessment, he thought my prior prescription may have been too strong. Wanted to switch eye doctors and decided to give Dr. Karrick a try. I can't review the other doctors at the clinic but Bryan is great. Very thorough, explained everything to me and answered any questions I had. Didn't need to get a new pair of glasses but my others were 2 years old and I have good insurance. The selection was great and had a lot of stylish options. I considered taking my prescription to Warby Parker but I ended up finding the perfect pair there and for less money after insurance! Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. They were taking COVID very seriously when I went and the staff was very professional and looked healthy to me. I highly recommend Dr. Karrick. During a routine eye exam, he discovered that I had a hole in the macular of my eye and immediately referred me for surgery. His office staff set up the specialist referral and streamlined the whole process. I have been going here for 10 years and I recently had a check up on 05/18/19 with "doctor" Owen. He casually mentioned the word glaucoma, didn't explain why and didn't provide any information. He rushed out of the room as I was asking him if I was going blind. He said no but it left me super scared. So I went and saw another doctor and he told me I was completely fine. It is UNACCEPTABLE to scare your patients for no reason if you won't follow up with other tests to make sure. Don't be lazy. I will never go back to this place again which is unfortunate because Diane, lady who helped me select my sunglasses, was pretty amazing. read more

The optometrists at Edmonds Eye Care are fantastic. This rating is for the group that provides the frames and lenses. Unfortunately, their sense of customer service is in the toilet. I'm really not sure why these great doctors keep that frames business around. I got glasses a couple years ago and I was treated like I was inconveniencing them. The lady who serviced me kept rolling her eyes every time I asked a question. The next time I got glasses I went somewhere else. I thought I'd try them again, so I ordered glasses. The person who fitted me was new but he was very nice. Now I can only pick up glasses on the weekend. It's too difficult to get away from work. A Google search shows them open on Saturday so all is good, right? Now I find out that only the doctors are in on Saturday!! The people who fit you for glasses can't be inconvenienced to work on Saturday. Does that group understand anything about customer service?! It sure doesn't seem like it. read more

My husband's eyesight declined rapidly last week, and we are new to the area. By luck, mostly by proximity, we called Edmonds Eye Care Associates and got an appointment very quickly with Dr. Stoebner. He couldn't have been more wonderful. He was attentive and supportive. After many test over 2 hours, he told us gently and clearly that the problems was not in my husband's eyes, but in his brain. He made a follow up appointment with him and a referral to a neuro ophthalmologist. He couldn't have been kinder. He gave us so much time and answered every question thoughtfully. At the end, we told him how much trouble we were having finding a doctor, and he walked us downstairs to a Virginia Mason family practice and asked them to make appointments for us, which they did. His whole staff was friendly, competent and compassionate. We feel we couldn't have found a better eye doctor. read more

Went in there on 7/23 to fill new prescription and received no acknowledgment after saying hello to the Eyecare Staff. They just stared at me and went about their conversation and had no customers. I went to the reception desk and the lady was very nice and said to have a seat. After 5 minutes, the eyecare staff said I needed an appointment so after booking appointment, they said see you then and went about their conversation again. I didn't feel welcomed at all by them so I'm opting to go elsewhere. Such a shame because I was referred to them by my Doctor whom I will be notifying as well. read more

Wow, I couldn't disagree more with the rest of these reviews. All of the staff at Edmonds Eyecare have been professional and prompt...and yes, I've been having eye exams for more than 4 decades and you always have to wait in the dark room. You are having your eyes dilated. Your eyes need to be prepared so that all the tests they are running can see inside there. It's no quick exam, and if it is, it's not being done right. And, yes, insurance companies are paying less and less -- even the 'EXCELLENT' ones. But don't immediately start blaming the Dr's for this...do a little research on the cut that insurance companies are siphoning. I realize that one bad experience can taint a person's perspective, but I've had dozens of wonderful experiences at Edmonds Eyecare, and I know that there are plenty of others out there who would say the same. read more

I don't have enough adjectives ~ His administrative staff has been knowledgeable and efficient and the glasses folks ... Awesome! I have always been happy with my prescriptions ... Let me add, that I live in Portland, OR ... so it is even more important for the prescriptions to be accurate since I only get there for the initial visit and we handle the rest via UPS ... I did try another local optometrist here, but the prescription was so bad I took the glasses back three times and finally asked for a refund! This past Wednesday I went to Edmonds Eye Care Associates for a routine eye exam. I needed a new prescription for my glasses. During the exam Dr. Kerrick discovered that I had a serious glaucoma issue that needed to be treated right away. Needless to say I was in a complete panic. They were able to get the pressure in my eyes down to an acceptable level but I needed to have surgery Saturday. during that time Dr Davis came in and and performed a procedure to get my pressure down to an acceptable level I did not even have an appointment with him Jonathan the technician was fabulous I was so scared on Friday, I called and spoke to Jonathan and he really calmed me down I felt much better Today, dr. Davis performed the laser surgery my husband was with me he answered all our questions Heather the nurse who is fabulous answered all of our questions too. I cannot speak highly enough about this group of professionals. I would recommend Edmonds Eye Care Associates to anyone I had an emergency situation and being new to the clinic I had no relationship with them and I cannot tell you how kind they were to me and took care of me so that I did not end up in a serious situation. read more

I was able to be seen by Dr Owen's for a same day appointment, I was having distorted vision that started very suddenly. He had a few tests run based upon my complaint and very quickly diagnosed the problem correctly He was able to get me scheduled with a Retina specialist that same day. Dr. Bryan Karrick is the doctor to ask for when getting your eyes examined at Edmonds Eyecare. For thirty plus years I have had no need for prescription glasses. Now in my forties things have changed. I work in the construction industry, having good vision is not only a necessity, it's a safety issue. We guys never like to hear that something is wrong with us. Dr. Karricks frank, professional demeanor was what I needed to hear and was greatly appreciated. He explained what was going on with my eyes and why. He laid out the process going forward all the while being a good Doctor and genuine human being. I went in because I was seeing spots in my right eye, I was diagnosed wrong, I was told I had a detached retina. I was horrified for 20 hrs before I saw the surgeon, he told me I did not have a detached retina and was surprised I was told by a guy that checks my eyes to see what kind of glasses I need would tell me that . I waited in a dark room for 45 minutes before I was examined and he only spent 4 minute with me. I have been going there for 5 years and I will Never GO Back! the only nice things I have to say is that the receptionists were nice and the first gal that did my initial exam was professional, and I am not going to use there names because they know who they are:( read more

I always have a thorough exam. This time I learned something new about how progressive lenses can/are made (spacing and size of each Rx in them). It was an understanding that helped me realize why the glasses I have gotten from other places did not work for me. EEA used to be very good, but I think they came under new management about 2008 or 2009 because since then I've had a lot of grief with them. One time they dilated my eyes and forgot about me, left me sitting in an exam room for well over an hour before I realized what had happened and stormed out. They also push very hard on the "upsell" options these days, with every phone call resulting in a recommendation for lots of exams and procedures. To get my reading glasses replaced I was told I'd have to have a $45 "contact lens evaluation." I've had a couple of medical emergencies when my contacts scratched my eye, and each time I had to decline several procedures unrelated to the issue. They're okay with being told "no way" but I get tired of them contantly trying to dip into my insurance! If I had any better options nearby I'd jump ship. read more

I waited in the waiting room a half hour after my scheduled time. I then waited in the exam room over 45 minutes for the dr. When the doctor did finally arrive he seemed uninterested in actually helping me. He then preceded to tell me that my eyes have different prescriptions. Knowing this for years it didn't surprise me. He then baffled me by saying your eyes are different but lets just make them the same. When I asked why he told me they're not that different and it'll be easier for you. My eyes have been different for 7 years I think I can handle it. But he assured me I would not even notice because the difference is that small. I should have stood my ground but I trusted him. Wrong move I now get headaches from my glasses and contacts that I changed to the new prescription. I know have to pay out of pocket to go somewhere else to get an actual prescription, glasses and contacts. After the dr I had to wait another half hour just to talk to someone about glasses and they didn't even have a selection worth looking at. Most were also $350-$400. I don't want anyone else to have money and time wasted so steer clear of this place. read more

This place is just plain terrible. My insurance has always been the same and it covers EVERYTHING. And now they come up with these Exam fees ($40) when you get there, or a fitting fee ($150) if you want to try new pairs of contacts because the ones you are wearing are extinct. Seriously?? I've had a fitting there for free and now suddenly you have all these surprise fees? That my EXCELLENT INSURANCE just happens to NOT COVER?? Yeah because the insurance company knows it's bogus. They are just trying to make more money. They always screw up my insurance, mess up my chart and have no idea what's going on. So when I got my medical insurance through my work I decided to check yelp for a eye doctor place and the reviews for this location pretty terrible. So I decided to give them a shot. Called scheduled an appointment and had my appointment. Over all I would rate this as a better than average experience. A little bit more than average hold time on the phone, a little bit more than average wait time in the office, walked in and all the staff were friendly, nice respectful, place was clean professional yet overall nice vibe as soon as you walk in the door. So after is all said and done great experience, great attitude, lots of parking room behind the building. My wife and I will now be going here for as long as we live in lynnwood. read more

I feel that previous reviewers may not be presenting a fair picture of Edmonds Eyecare Assc. My family and I have been going here for exams and contact lense/glasses purchases for a few years now and have been very pleased. I see Dr. Stoebner, who is quite professional. On all of my visits, I have always felt like I was given the time of day, and I certainly would not agree with a previous reviewer who commented that the assistants perform most of the exam. The actual measurements of my eyes and fitting of a prescription was NOT done by the assistants. Additionally, let me say that I have been even more pleased with their sales team. I have been getting contact lenses and glasses from lenscrafters and pearle vision for at least 7 years now, and I have always been dissapointed by the lack of consistency in knowledgable employees. Sometimes I would get my glasses fitted properly, other times I would have to come back in numerous times.. However, as soon as I got a pair of glasses at Edmonds, they seemed much more knowledgable about fit. They also know their products well. I will give the caveat that they are certainly full price (that's why insurance helps), but bear in mind that you get what you pay for. The only reason I am not giving five stars, is that I have only been to one other optometrist since I have been nearsighted, so I don't have any extensive comparisons. Dr. Stoebner is wonderful...My 5 year old loved him and said he was so nice...However the optometry dept. was awful...Decided to get our glasses somewhere else...Avoid Melissa, her customer service and downright rudeness and passive/aggressiveness was mind-boggling regarding my child...Basically accusing us of neglect for not realizing our child had vision problems-told me I must have missed subtle cues for "along time" etc...Dr. Stoebner was very understanding, said kids don't articulate it much till around 5...When they get in preschool and figure out something isn't quite right...Anyway, he is great but avoid Melissa...Absolutely one of the worst encounters I've had with any business in my life. read more

I am a huge fan of Dr Ben Stoebner. He has been my eye doctor for about 6 years (in Redmond & in Edmonds) and I can't say enough good things about him. He was the first eye doctor to actually listen to what I was saying and not jump to conclusions when working through my vision issues. He is willing to patiently try different solutions and he is willing to recommend natural solutions too, not just prescriptions, which I really appreciate. As someone who is terrified of doctors in general and who had such bad eye doctor experiences as a kid that I literally can be brought to tears just considering an eye doctor visit, I am very careful about my doctor selection.
