Terrible customer services! I ordered my contact lens few times. Payments were charged but no products received. I had to call and asked to find out that they never placed the orders. It caused long delay and they never called patients to inform issues occurred. This time even worst, I waited 2 weeks, never received my product. I had to call again. We had an unfortunate experience with our 8 year old son trying on special contacts at this location. We were not thoroughly briefed before the appointment that staff would not be allowed to assist him with the contacts, and that parents weren't supposed to be in the room while he was trying them on. This was a traumatic experience for our son (the contact got stuck in his eye and the doctor had to use a small plunger to pull it out after I begged them to) but especially traumatic as parents watching our child struggle while the staff did...nothing. I hate leaving negative reviews but parents need to be told EXACTLY what to expect so this situation doesn't happen again. No, we will not use this business again nor can we recommend it. read more

I highly recommend Alderwood Vision Source for all your vision needs! I came a few months ago for my exam and had been waiting to get new glasses when I had insurance. My wife came for an appointment and I joined her when she was picking out her new frames. I decided to get some of my own! Today I went to pick them up and have them fitted and Kayla, the associate who helped us before, made sure I got a proper fit. She adjusted the glasses for me several times until I was comfortable. This is only the second place I've gone for eye exams and such, so I can't make too many wide comparisons--but they seemed to be good at everything from my perspective. It looks like an anonymous little strip mall business (because the strip mall looks anonymous, and is on a super busy main road), but it's really nice inside. There are fish tanks, and plenty of frames to shop among while you wait for your appointment. Feels very professional, but doesn't have the coldness of many medical offices. The desk staff are all super nice and helpful, and get you checked in quickly. The tech ran through all my photos and pre-exam stuff very efficiently, and pretty soon I saw the doc. The doc is a nice guy; he doesn't say much and my appointment was over so quickly that I worried my glasses might not be dialed in exactly right when they arrived. But he answered my questions and nailed the prescription without any trouble. The frame fitters (I am sure there's a proper name for this part of the staff) are all super nice and helpful. They make really good suggestions about what will suit your style, and answer all your questions about wearing and taking care of glasses, getting used to them, etc. I suppose my visit was as straightforward as something like this will get for them, but they did everything right, and I very much appreciate that. read more

Premium service at a premium price in my opinion. They offer good warranty support, and seem willing to work with you after purchase to ensure your satisfaction, which is were the value really comes in. Great service, and quality, both the exams, and rest of the process. Though I did have sticker shock when I learned what the price of my new progressive lensed glasses would be. I am not knowledgeable on general pricing for glasses, but these were 38% higher priced than the similar pair purchased at a smaller independant eyeglass store with a part time optomatrist, five years ago, and they weren't cheap. One caviat if you are the type of person that cares about little details; The new glasses I purchased have a slightly noticeable pale yellow-green tint (and reflection) to the AR coating, so I contacted them to to find out what version of Crizal AR coating was on these lenses. They expressed concerned, and asked me to come back in so they could take a look. It was then that I learned that, even though my glasses came with a Crizal lens cleaning kit and registration card, the lab instead uses an Alderwood Vision Source branded equivalent to Crizal Avance AR coating, which is an older (10+ years?) Crizal process, and not the latest and greatest Crizal Sapphire, which I mistakenly assumed I would be getting, for what these things cost. I should have asked about AR coating options upfront, knowing how picky I am about these things. They then indicated that they would be happy to have them re-done, but if I wanted the Crizal Sapphire AR coating, I wouldn't get the package price, and it would likely cost more. Since the slight greenish/yellow isn't too noticeable, and I don't want to spend any more money, I decided to live with them, as there is really nothing functionally wrong with them. Most anti-reflection coatings have at least a colored reflection. I've just never noticed a color cast in previous clear glasses, though it's not noticeable to me when I'm wearing them. read more

My wife had been dealing with an eye problem for a couple of months. Got to the point where she woke up crying early in the morning. Her eye was swollen, the color of candy red and she had headaches from light. I desperately called Vision Source at 8:00 am Monday. They got my wife in for 8:40 appointment. Didn't know that eye lashes could grown inwards.....Dr plucked them, gave her some eye drops and wished us well. My wife is so much better!!! My tiny 3-year-old needed glasses. After going to many local places, I was frustrated with the lack of kid glasses as well as knowledge from the salesman. I came here on the recommendation off the internet world. And let me tell you they did not disappoint. I worked with Rachel who was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond every single time. This was nearly a year ago, and since then we've returned for another pair of glasses. Rachel is always very helpful, very thorough, and very quick to respond to any questions that I have. Most of my communication with her has been through email but I have also spoken to her on the phone and met her in person. I had to take my other child with me when looking at glasses for one of my children. She and the staff there were so kind to entertain the children with markers and paper and stories. Everybody here really went above and beyond, especially Rachel. Even though this place is a solid 45-minute drive for me I will definitely continue coming here. This was my first eye appointment ever and the assistant Paige walked me through every step of my eye tests and was so informative. Update: 5 to 4 stars. Here's why: had a little bug in my eyes. They gave me an antibiotic and told me to come back in two days. That didn't work with my my schedule so I went back three days later. Even with the extra day, I was told that the antibiotic was working but the bug wasn't yet gone. I had to spend over 100 dollars just to hear that and they wanted me to come back a few days later again and spend over 100 dollars. It wasted not only my time but my money. BUT everyone there is incredibly nice which I appreciate. read more

Dr. Hyde's outgoing personality and modern optometry practice actually make me excited for yearly eye exams. It all started at my first visit when Dr. Hyde explained how the cool new OptoMap machine meant I didn't need to have my eyes dilated during the exam. Yep, no eye drops, no silly sun glasses, no headache. Instead, the machine takes a digital picture of your eye bits. Then, you get to see that picture on a monitor while the Dr. Hyde points out what's being examined. It's pretty awesome. All your pictures from previous eye exams are also available, so any changes or trends can be compared side to side. Aside from that example of embracing all the newest tech (I love dentists, optometrists, and general practitioners that geek out with their profession's gadgets), Dr. Hyde's staff is top notch. There's always a nice greeting from someone at front desk, appointments are easy to schedule, and my insurance (VSP) is handled without issue. Location is the only downside to Dr. Hyde's practice -- this office is a bit outside downtown Seattle, but well worth the drive. read more

This is my 100th 5-star review, which seems appropriate for a place that I have been going for 25+ years. They recently moved to a new facility off of 196th, just past the McDonalds. There is plenty of easy parking available, and the new space is nicely laid out - although the mannequin right inside the door made me jump a little. I usually see Dr. Hyde, although Dr. Pfeifer is also excellent. Both truly care about your eye health and take the time to make sure that you understand and are comfortable with everything. One time, I had to change contact lens brands due to my usual kind being discontinued, and Dr. Pfeifer probably tried six or seven different brands before we found one that worked. I'm sure that put him behind schedule, but he never let on and wanted to be sure I was comfortable with the ones we finally settled on. They do sell glasses and contacts in-office, but there is no high pressure sales and if you tell them you want to to go to Costco or elsewhere, they will happily print off your prescription for you (or fax it). The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they keep up with the latest technologies for good ocular health. The clinic is open late (until 8pm) on Thursdays for people who can't or don't want to take time off of work. My entire family goes here and I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone looking for an eye doctor in Lynnwood. read more

I have had the same pair of glasses for 3 years. I wanted new frames and went to 3 other places before Google told me Vision Source was the next closest. It's where I should have started. When I think about my experience at Vision Source with Melody, the term "Nordstrom Like" is really the only way to describe it. The customer service she provided was on another level. Vision Source has a huge selection of frames and Melody really knows what they have and what works with your face. I came in and found a great pair of frames. I immediately called my sister and told her you need to get down here and see what they have for you. The next day we were both there. Melody helped my sister find 2 frames she couldn't live without. I bought the frames I liked from my original visit and another pair from the trunk show that happened to be there on my second trip with my sister- as if they could have an even larger selection! The Dr was good but the other staff was not helpful at all, they took three weeks to make my glasses, where I had lost my old once and I told them that I need them asap. And when I have them the translation dint work. And when I took them bk they gv me a Starbucks coupon by saying sorry and that Starbucks was only for $5. I have been a customer of Alderwood Vision Source for over 6 years and have always been impressed with their friendliness and competence. I have visited for annual eye exams, purchased contacts through them, and had pre/post treatment for Lasik eye surgery (performed at another facility). All their staff is very helpful and responds to my inquiries quickly. Several years ago, I went in for a fitting for glasses and made an order through one of their staff members. After waiting a while for my glasses to arrive, I called to check in on them, and my order had apparently gotten lost and never placed. The supervisor was very apologetic and helped resolved the issue quickly. I was impressed with how well their staff handled mishaps and how they respect their customers' time. The doctors and staff in the back are excellent. The front desk is disorganized. I went in to get glasses for my daughter. They insisted on calling our insurance and waiting on hold for 15-20 minutes (2nd insurance). While we were waiting for the insurance verification (which I kept telling her I didn't care if the 2nd covered it because the first was fine) another family came in. The woman at the next desk made sure to get this family of 4, all trying on glasses, in front of us so my 4 year old with high energy had to wait once the receptionist finally gave up and said she couldn't get a hold of our 2nd insurance. Huge waste of time. We then waited over an hour for the 4 people who came in after us to get fit to find out that there was nothing on the wall that would fit my 4 year old. I gave them a second chance just this past week. While I was waiting to check out after my eye exam in the designated "line" the receptionist at the desk kept grabbing people as they walked in to check them in. She missed that there was a line until one of the back room staff pointed at me. I am looking for a more organized clinic. read more
