We were able to get a water bottle engraved and I've been using it daily ever since. I explored the space more and saw that they had several 3D printers, large photo/poster printers, vinyl cutters, sewing machines, laser cutter, metal and wood workshop, and probably more that I missed. Membership is free to MCCCD students, faculty and staff and they charge at cost for materials, which is a great deal. It's open to the public as well and they have membership options. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, and easy to chat with. I would love to come back and explore more of their offerings!

Pip is located in the walking-only community so car parking is way off to the side of the apartment/shopping complex. The space is in a large corner studio and there is a cute little area with some pottery and art goods for purchase. Unlike the Pip and Clay in Phoenix, this one does not have a coffee shop inside of it. I took a class while a wheel-throwing class was happening and since there is no room divider it was a little hard to hear our instructor at first but that class finished as ours started. Overall, for the price ($55-$60 for 2.5 hours) I think you get a fun piece! This is my second Pip and Clay class and I certainly plan on taking more!

And at every turn, every possible opportunity I have been dissapointed by this school. This supposed "Art" school lacks any classes that would actually qualify it as an art school, and in that regard Metro manages to somehow offer lessart classes than a majority of public schools, lacking any culinary classes or even woodworking. This school offers no opportunities for students to excel within their own classes or grade level by offering the opportunity for students to skip a classes if they have already studied or learned the topic within a class outside of the school. That aside, the school does not support students who wish to gain college credits as they progress through school and as such a majority of the students cannot benefit from gaining early credits. Even still the school has absolutely terrible management, from the absolutely mediocre job as a principle that Matt Baker does. Where as he rarely participates or is even active around the school. The poor sanitation conditions within the school bathrooms both male and female. The unfulfilling and almost laughable attempts at a legitimate prom that this school has. Whereas it is poorly planned and funded, poorly put together and absolutely terribly executed. Even other students here laugh, at the miserable and terrible management this school suffers from. The teachers constantly changing yearly and the new ones coming in not knowing how to adequately teach their students. Overall this school is an absolute waste of time, money, and resources in general save yourself and your children from this absolutely mediocre excuse for a school and go to an actual school. My kid went here last year and everyday I would have to call the office and the principal just to get the teachers to login. When grades came out they didn't give him grades and I am still trying to get the grades 6 months later. 4 out of 5 of his teachers left the school, the principal is gone too, and they can't find any record of his grades. They put him in the wrong grade but won't give him the grades for the courses he took. Now because it's all new people again we can't get his grades because employees can't access grades from before they worked there which includes the registrar. I wouldn't recommend this school to my worst enemy. We are still trying to find his grades and because it's a private school the board of education can't help.

The staff operates under a growth mindset. We experienced a positive relationship with Ms. Hulya and her staff. Ms. Hulya has over 15+ years of experience and demonstrates a desire to stay current and advance her professional development. She attends yearly workshops and maintains a curiosity for learning. When you find an educator with such deep passion for teaching, it makes a night-and-day difference for your child. 2. The setting is ripe for learning. It's obvious that everything at this school is designed to advance and elevate the students' learning experiences. This space is purposefully curated, impeccably organized, and remarkably clean. It continues to pass official health inspections by always adhering to their standards. Think of TRM as a daily retreat or sanctuary for your kids. 3. Intimacy yields social and emotional development. The teacher-child ratio is optimal (including Ms. Hulya, there are 2 additional assistants on-site). The small class size helped our kid develop deeper relationships with other kids and gain a sense of collective responsibility. As younger kids grow and progress, they are encouraged to provide mentorship for incoming kids. It's these relationships that emphasize social and emotional development, making academic achievements possible (i.e. reading, writing, math skills, etc.). 4. Mealtimes cultivate positive experiences with food. We wanted a place that stressed good nutrition and smart eating habits. TRM always has snacks on-hand (from Whole Foods) and follows a strict policy of 'no sugar or junk food' in lunches. Kids participate in setting the table and loading dishwasher, eating their veggies first, and helping with meal prep. These communal eating experiences and regular cooking activities also led to good dining etiquette and meal planning for our family at home. 5. Trust and transparency are key to everyone. Much of TRM successes are attributed to Ms. Hulya and her teaching philosophy. This is why parents must equally invest in developing a transparent working relationship with her. We found Ms. Hulya to be open to our suggestions, honest in addressing our concerns, and willing to provide reasonable solutions for any course correction. Her communication was warm and friendly; mostly done via in-person or phone call (sometimes via text message or email). Overall, we wouldn't trade our experiences at TRM for anything. Our child felt the support of educators who invested in his development within a loving environment. He now has self-confidence and social skills needed to transition to kindergarten. He has an enthusiasm for learning, creating the building blocks for academic success. He also discovered passions (like cooking and painting) that we'll continue to foster. We know it's not always easy to find the right learning environment for your child. Choosing a school can be a trial-and-error process. If TRM is a good fit, you will not be disappointed. Not only has she had one on one education since the day she started, but she has grown so close to her school friends over her time here. Mrs. Hulya and Ms. Patti are two of the most kind, loving, and gentle teachers we could have hoped for. From gardening to swimming to fostering independence... the skills she has learned at her time here are beyond sufficient to build the strongest foundation for her future.
