Decided to give this place a try. Started off by ordering the Hiro trio sushi. I wish the waitress would have told me it wasn't your normal style sushi because I did not enjoy eating what I was served. It tasted great, it just wasn't sushi. It was challenging to eat without just making a mess of it. My main course was the Chicken dinner hibachi. It was very flavorful and good, but the vegetables maybe could have used another minute or two of cooking. Decided to come here because we had never been..... and we won't be back. Food was alright, but we ordered a sushi roll and never got it. We got there at 8:15 and they don't close until 10, but we were being forced out of the door at 9:15. We were finishing up and some lady walked up and made us get up from our table before we even got the receipt back to sign from paying for our food. Was in this town 15 years ago. Things have been changed a lot. I found this restaurant because of its location not the foeod. It is good to see so many changes in this town, however with so many customers, the food should be better, at least serve miso soup. Update one day later: Just check my receipt from here, found out the tips already on IT, which was 18 percent, $15.53. I left $15 cash on the table, feeling really stupid. A pretty good Japanese restaurant for Jonesboro. They have the basic Hibachi fare and a pretty extensive sushi menu. The sushi isn't the freshest I've had, but probably the best I've had in Jonesboro. The wait staff is extremely friendly and that is a big thing for me. The decor is nice and I prefer this place hands down to Fuji simply because there are no loud hibachi tables and no birthday drum!!! They also have really good desserts here! Green tea and red bean ice creams, banana tempura, and ice cream tempura are all good here. read more

Ate here for lunch with a party of 7. The food was excellent, but the service ... notsomuch. We were there for an hour-and-a-half and the excuse given to us by our waiter was "It's a big sushi order and the sushi chef is new." Okay ... I had the salad with ginger dressing, which was good. They brought some spring rolls as starters, which were very nice - crispy with a dipping sauce. I had the crunchy shrimp roll and the California roll. Both tasted fresh and I enjoyed my lunch. My daughter ordered edamame, which were fine as well. My husband (not a sushi eater), had beef and scallops from the hibachi menu, which he liked as well. It was very busy at lunch, but the wait cost this place a star. Still, I'll go back at the next opportunity, as I'm Jonesboro quite a bit to visit the family. read more

Hiro has the absolute WORST costumer service I have ever experienced. They are so rude and constantly get my orders wrong. I will never be going back. As an example, tonight I called and ordered 4 sushi rolls. On the phone the woman was very aggressive. She said it would be 30-40 minutes, so I went there at 50 minutes, because they are usually late. I waited for an extra THIRTY MINUTES before I got my food. When I got home, I opened the containers and found one of my sushi rolls was missing. Seriously? I just spent $40 dollars at this trash service restaurant. NEVER going back read more

Extremely hateful staff. This restaurant was awesome when they first opened years ago. They charge the same price of actual hibachi cooking experience you have when the cook is right in front of you, entertaining you, but with far less quality of food. This restaurant is WAYYYYY over priced and the food is mediocre. Dealing with hateful, unfriendly staff means I'll never go back again. First time experience and unable to eat in due to COVID. Take out was the only option and the process was easy. Food came out great and was quite the treat. I attempted to place an order for pickup at 9 this evening and was told they were no longer open. I asked to clarify that their business hours were in fact to 9:30. I didn't call last minute with a crazy order it was meant to be picked up, not a dine in request that would hold up closing the restaurant for the evening. My greatest frustration is that I read blatantly lied to before the lady hingup on me. I have been a consistent customer who enjoyed the food and professional service. Go elsewhere. This restaurant had lost it's credibility with me by lying. I have worked in restaurants, if they were swamped, low on staff and that was disclosed I would have gladly moved on. If a kitchen staff things an order coming in 30 minutes before close for a quick sushi order is too much then this business will see it's reputation wane. read more

We have always loved this place until today! Everytime we go here we order the Hiro rolls. It has always been delicious, a little spicy but great. Today we ordered 4 of them and it was so hot me and our oldest daughter could not eat ours. My husband and youngest daughter whom both eat jalapeños out of the bottle loved them however it had their noses running and even they said they were hot. I told the waitress and she told the manager whom after about 5 minutes or her standing up at the counter litteraly doing nothing came back and proceeded to give me a lecture on how they are always the SAME SPICY and next time if I seen something on the menu that said spicy not to order it. I tried to tell her we ALAWAYS order this roll and we have never had this problem before. She proceeded to basically call me a liar! I was pretty weary of sushi in Jonesboro just due to the fact they are so far from fresh water. Bascially was my only option to eat out at that all the food wasn't covered in ranch dressing or bathed in a deep frier. Healthy options are pretty slim down there and this seemed like the best bet. Started with the Miso and Edamamae which were both prepared pretty well, the seaweed was a tad off but completely edible. Had the caterpillar roll (see previous concerns about raw fish in Jonesboro) and admit, it was quite good and was impressed. I found it pretty amusing, however, that all the Sushi roll options -- about 80% of them were cooked which gave me a giggle. Good place to eat if you don't want fried food, service was friendly and easy to find since it's off the main drag by the mall. When business travel takes me down again can definitely see myself camping out here for a couple of dinners to avoid my coronary. read more

While the food was good, the actual service was not. We had four people in our party, two ordered hibachi and the other two of us ordered sushi. The problem came when the hibachi meals were delivered but the sushi wasn't. Our server started that they would be right out. About 15 minutes went by, still no sushi. And the two hibachi meals were half eaten. When the server stopped by again, he stated that our rolls were taken to the wrong table but we're being remade now. Another five minutes later and one of the sushi meals arrived. We were told that the other meal would be there in just a moment. Maybe another five minutes went by and the final meal was delivered. But by this time everyone else had finished and I was left eating alone while my family waited. There was a single "I'm sorry" when the hibachi meals were delivered but nothing else. I was very unimpressed with how it was handled, better described as how it was ignored. read more

This is my favorite sushi in Jonesboro. Fuji doesn't have the adventurous spirit of these rolls, & I got used to adventurous sushi in Dallas. My favorites: the Hiro roll, the Blue Dragon, & the Red Dragon. My only change to any of these: I ask for additional Sriracha sauce on them. Not spicy enough for my taste without it. My son lives the seafood fried rice, & my husband & I are very fond of the agedashi tofu. For a very interesting dessert, try the strawnana roll! read more

Didn't expect much from this place. Pleasantly surprised. Service Great. Friendly staff. Really attentive to our needs. American Japanese Food I had hibachi chicken and shrimp. The flavors were about the same as you'd find at most high end hibachi restaurants. I will say the chicken was chicken breast. So it was a little dry. But the shrimp was good. The salad had the usual orange based ginger sauce which is always good too. Japanese Food Gyoza was standard, but still good. I had tuna and salmon nigiri. They don't have fatty tuna or anything like that here. But, the portions of the tuna and salmon were great. The ratio of fish to rice was really good too. The salmon was quite tender. I've had sushi at Tsukiji market in Japan at some of the most famous sushi places. Of course it's not on par with that. But this was probably the first place I've been to in America where the nigiri was actually good. Wife had white tuna nigiri. She said that was really good too. It seems they know what they're doing with Nigiri. Overall Not particularly imaginative. But they do everything well. This is where I will go for sushi while I'm in Jonesboro. I am interested in trying a few more of their dishes though. They have a pretty good selection. read more

First I should let it be known that I've only been once, so maybe they were having an off day. First of all, the service was -horrible-. It took forever to be attended, the waitress didn't pay much attention when she was serving us, was completely unknowledgeable of the menu, and we personally watched her argue with the customers sitting next to us for a solid 20 minutes until they finally left. My husband and I both noticed that the sauces, rice, and chicken (he got the habachi chicken) had a much stronger acidic/vinegar taste to them than we're used to with Japanese food. We're aware it's supposed to be there, but it was pretty overbearing. I had the sushi, a tuna and an eel roll, and it was not fresh at all. Infact, I couldn't finish my tuna roll as the smell nearly gagged me when I tried to eat the first piece. They're around the same price as Fuji's Japanese Steakhouse (which is across the intersection), and with the same general selection, but I was much less happy with the service and quality of food. I can see where all of the college kids may prefer Hiro's as it has a more modern club like decor, whereas Fuji's is your generic Asian restaurant feel. (I'm only 24, after that statement I feel about 50 though.) read more

I love this place. Finally Jonesboro has sushi that isn't on a Chinese buffet. The chef has created some wonderful fusion sushi using local fare such as crawfish and even jalapeño. I will definitely recommend this place to any sushi-lover in town! Had my wife pick up lunch for me here yesterday. I haven't been inside as I'd rather go to Fuji and be able to enjoy some sake and beer, but the lunch was pretty good. The spicy tuna salad was very good, with small slices of orage, cucumber, ponzu and a chili sauce. The tuna tataki was good and both tuna dishes tasted pretty fresh. The beef negimaki was just ok, but the gyoza were horrible. They're either buying those frozen from somewhere and reheating, or cooking it terribly with the wrong type of wrap. My wife and I decided to try this restaurant. Upon entering we noticed there was hardly any customers there. It was a Sunday about 5:00 pm. We waited and waited but no host or hostess came to seat us. We did see someone who was on their cell phone glance up at us but paid us no attention. After 10 minutes or so just standing there we were just about to leave when the person that was on their cellphone got up and walked towards us. This was our host He didn't say a word but grudgingly grabbed two menus and seated us right by the door. We asked if we could sit at a booth because the table we were assigned was near the door and it was really cold outside. The Host yanked the menu's off the table and THREW them onto a booth table and just walked off. How rude!!! We were immediately made to feel unwelcome. Very awkward. But we decided to give it a chance (we're reasonable people). Soon a delightful waitress took our order and brought us our food. The food was ok, not the greatest but ok. If you're ok with being greeted by a host with all the charm of a Rotten onion and mediocre food... this place is for you . We were in Jonesboro for business but if we lived here we definitely would avoid this place. We still left a 15% tip because our rude treatment wasn't the waitress's or the chef's fault. I usually get the hibachi chicken and maybe a sushi roll or two, though my favorite would have to be the Kentucky Roll (not really sushi since it's a fried chicken roll with no fish, but still delicious). Went here for dinner with friends last week. Ordered sushi because of the early bird special. It was good- the rolls were a little too big- and I don't love warm sushi which is what I got. It's decent for the location (northeastern Arkansas) and I wouldn't hesitate to try them again. Well half of us got our food in a timely manner..apparently getting sushi made involves actually catching the fish in the Pacific. We were served our entree while the two other guests in our party waited and waited and waited.
