I rarely leave negative reviews, but after more than six months of trying to resolve this situation, I feel it's important to share my experience. Ed was recommended to me by another contractor whom I respect. Unfortunately, my experience with Ed was completely different, and I know the person who referred him has since apologized and is embarrassed by how this has turned out. I hired Ed to replace my spa heater, restore the spa shell, remove the rust stains, polish the metal handles, replace the pillows/headrests, and leave the spa in excellent working condition for my investment property, which I operate as a short-term rental. Instead, he convinced me to install a used heater, assuring me that it was "practically new" and would be an excellent unit. After the installation, the heater began releasing significant rust into the spa, staining the shell and leaving me questioning the condition of the equipment that was installed. The work was never completed. The promised restoration was never finished, the pillows/headrests were never replaced, the shell was never properly restored, and several other agreed-upon items were left undone. To make matters worse, the spa was left in worse condition than before. For the past six to seven months, I have repeatedly contacted Ed. Every time he tells me he will come "tomorrow" or "next week," but he never shows up. He has made the same promises to the contractor who referred him, yet nothing has changed. I paid over $3,000 expecting professional workmanship and reliable service. Instead, I have been left with an unfinished project, a spa that still requires repairs, and months of frustration trying to get him to honor his commitments. At this point, I have no choice but to pursue reimbursement through Small Claims Court because my attempts to resolve this matter directly have been unsuccessful. We have used Ed's Pools and Spas for probably ten years. In looking at other reviews, nothing new has been posted in almost 3 years. At first, Ed's service as top-notch. Over the years, he brought different guys to help out. These guys came and went and some stayed for all of ten minutes. They'd sweep the net across the water for a few minutes, throw some chemicals in the water and leave. Now, present day, there would be at least one no-show each month. Our pool has algae growing in it. Our water is so off with chemicals that we're going to have to drain our pool. This is not the opinion of one other person, but three! If we could find a way to charge him for the water we're going to have to pay for, we would! It's too bad. Ed was good at one time. We don't know what happened to that level of service. read more

Well let me tell you, Ed definitely is a good honest contractor. You don't come by honest contractors very often but when you do you let everyone know. He is super knowledgeable about the pool business and does what's good for the customer. Ed is currently building a pool for me and I could not be any more pleased with the personal relationship we have built. He is very attentive too the customer which is a sigh of relief. I am so glad we hired Ed to do a pool overhaul. Many things had to be fixed with this old pool. The plaster has eroded to rebar, so he took care of that before re-plastering and re-tiling. He also re-plumbed, re-wired the electrical, bright the drains up to code, added vacuum port and auto-fill. Everything combined, he gave us a great price. I asked many questions, and he was always so patient, and helped me prioritize what to spend on to stay within budget. He does not try to upsell you. Completed the job on time, and even fit us into his schedule right away. Really appreciate his work and will ask him to maintain the pool for us going forward. I've been working with Ed's Pools for 6 or 7 years. He started by taking care of my old pool & spa. Then he helped me to resurface my pool with peebletech & a gorgious tile border. I & everyone that sees it loves it. Recently, he helped me with a new above ground jacuzzi. He took out the old in ground jacuzzi, filled the hole & capped it with concrete. When I received the new jacuzzi, he made all of the electrical connections, filled it with water & helped condition it with chemicals. He tackled the problem in very good cheer, methodically trying out multiple approaches and persisting at it while others would have given up. He returned another day with additional equipment and managed to rectify the problem. Several insights. - He is very methodical and knowledgable... He was able to intute the issue quickly and logically worked his way through different solutions. _ he is very honest and straightforward. He appeared genuinely embarrassed to modestly increase his initial quote despite the fact that the project was much more involved than originally expected. _ he is very personable and genuine and a very decent being. Very happy with our pool but the salt system stopped working and we called and asked if someone could come out and troubleshoot. We were told to call the 800 # on the AquaRite box - and they could troubleshoot then to call Ed's pool service back and let them know what they said, which is all well and good but we are senior citizens and my husband had a stroke, so after spending thousands and thousands and also bought a stand alone spa from him thought the person on the phone could have been more accommodating then telling us to call an 800 number. Giving a 2 in customer service but all in all we have a very nice - large 15 x 30 pool. We have had the pool quite a few years, but still for me service after the sale is so important especially when we can't do things for ourselves. Linda B. read more
