    We had a very disappointing experience with Dave Jones related to service calls for a boiler. The…read morehouse on the UW-Madison campus where young women live. It is managed by alumni, who volunteer their time. In the fall, we attempted to schedule a preventative service inspection before heat was needed throughout the building. That request was pushed off by their team until January, which eliminated the opportunity to proactively address any issues. When a service call was eventually scheduled, a technician arrived on the wrong day without any advance notice. We were not given the standard 24-hour notice, which created unnecessary disruption for our residents. Legally we are required to provide this for non-emergencies. Additionally, the technician went upstairs where residents were showering with no alumni escort or supervision. It made for an uncomfortable situation for our residents, which could have been avoided with the scheduled time or advance communication. More concerning was a later situation when our residents were left without heat. A service technician came out and called to explain what was wrong but did not provide a solution, plan, or timeline. When we called back around 2:45 p.m. to follow up, we learned that everyone had already left for the day. The receptionist had no information about parts, next steps, or who to contact, and could not reach anyone. The following day was a holiday, so there was still no communication or plan in place--and no heat. After another full day without communication, we contacted a different provider who was able to diagnose and fix the issue the same day, restoring heat for our residents. Once that vendor was lined up, we notified Dave Jones that their assistance was no longer needed. The only timely element they were able to do was send us a bill for diagnosing a problem but leaving us without follow up support or repair. Given the lack of communication, coordination, and urgency, we had a very bad experience, especially for a no-heat situation. We cannot recommend Dave Jones for boiler service and would encourage people to avoid this vendor and seek out others when similar service is necessary.
