They may want to hire someone else to answer the phones. I called to make an appointment and the girl who answered the phone lacks interpersonal people skills, tact, and sales experience. The words and comments she used were not welcoming at all. I explained what was going on and what I wanted to do and her comments were off putting. For example at the end of the call she said, "I'll speak to our stylists and see if anyone wants to do something like this". That implies if they are not enamored by my request then they'll turn me down. Or that nobody is qualified to do my request. Which was just weird. It wasn't an outlandish request. I do makeup and hair myself and in all my experience I would never say something like that to a client. Especially when you're talking to someone about something that many are sensitive about. Not only did he give a great hair wash and haircut, but he went above and beyond, making a great cup of coffee and even running out to feed my meter for me! Prices seem to vary based on who you book your appointment with. My haircut with John was $85 (not including tip). The shop is easy to find with a decent amount of metered parking spots. Multiple stylists were working at different stations and they all seemed very amicable and knowledgeable. Definitely may have found my new LA salon! read more

I came back for a partial highlight and at the end of the service I was told that services are "a la carte" and that my service did not include a blow dry and no one had time to do it. Then, I was charged separately for toner, which was not made transparent to me beforehand. So I ended up spending an additional $70 for my partial highlight and left with wet hair. It's incredible that I can tell him what I want my hair to look like, and then he completely delivers every time. The online appt system makes getting a haircut really easy. Had the best experience with John! I haven't gotten my hair cut in nearly 2 years, always leaving a little regretful and not entirely happy with my cut or style. NOT ANYMORE! Found John via yelp review and leaving my own as proof. John listened to exactly what I wanted - cut, practicality for daily life, and style. He cut off a good amount to make my hair look healthy, but not too much where I lost length. He listened to the fact that my hair is wavy/curly and knew not to cut too much, as curly hair "shrinks" as it dries. I've been going to efoxx for haircuts for a few years now. I've not had bad previous experiences with haircuts. If anything I was so happy to have found this salon. It wasn't until recently when I got a chemical burn on my face from a color treatment that I decided I will no longer be going here any more. I decided it was time to start covering my greys and opened up to my stylist about how I've never had color before. She was kind and never pushed me to do anything crazy. I especially trusted her with color as she is also a teacher of hair coloring. My most recent trip was the second time I went in for color. Still a bit new to the process so I made sure to let my stylist know. Side note I don't want to mention the stylists name because although I had a traumatic experience I think she is still a great stylist and I don't want to tarnish her reputation. I would just say if you plan to go here there are things to make sure you mention. So as I sat and watched the stylist color my hair. I wondered why so much color was on my face. But then again I trusted her and her process and I was new to the experience. At the end of my appointment the stylist handed me wipes and had me wipe the dye from my skin since I might wipe harder than her. So I sat in the chair scrubbing the dye off my face for a little bit. Even with the stylist right by my side. When I went to check out I mentioned to the receptionist that the side of my face kind of hurt from where I was scrubbing. He said it was normal. I checked out and went home. Upon arriving home about 20 minutes later my face felt like it was on fire it hurt so much. I tried calling the salon over and over but no one answered. I left a voicemail begging for help but still to this day (3 weeks later) no one has responded. I followed up with the stylist on Instagram and her first response was blaming me asking if I had gotten a facial that week. I had not. I searched online as best as I could and did everything from aloe, coconut oil, vitamin E, tea tree oil everything. The stylists response was to treat it like a burn. No apology or offering to help or anything. Oh did I forget to mention that I was doing this color treatment so I could attend my best friends wedding out of town that weekend. I endured the discomfort and burn on my face at a wedding I had been a part of. All in all I had a burn on the side of my face that hurt for days. I reached out to the stylist on Instagram again showing her how it looked and that's when she finally said sorry. But that's about it. She never checked in on me or anything. I've been a loyal client. I purchase all the products that are recommended and I tip very well. I'm giving these 3 stars because of the lack of care and no follow up after receiving this chemical burn on the side of my face. I'm attaching a picture for reference. I Hope if you choose to go here that you remember this experience and speak up and ask questions so you don't experience what I went through. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this salon! John E is incredible. My mother in law lives in south Texas and HATES all the options for stylists in her area, so she gets her hair done twice a year when she comes to visit us. The absolute best stylist she has ever been to hand down. John took the time when we first got in to listen to her concerns and what she wants, the ways that she prefers to wear her hair. Not only did he do an amazing cut, but then he went back through again to address how her hair would lay with her natural wavy texture. Her hair looks fantastic styled as well as just air dried. She has so much self confidence and was so happy during her entire trip! This was also our first time at the salon, and it's so nice. Not pretentious like so many studios on Ventura are, and the owner was so warm and welcoming to us during our entire visit. Check out this place, it is a vibe, and will be my go to from now on. My teenager has been going to Juliette for a few haircuts now and has left very happy. Unfortunately, there seems to be inconsistency with pricing. During his penultimate haircut he was told to pay $65.20 of which I sent a Venmo. Then his next cut he was told to pay $75.05 as I didn't send enough the previous time. I paid it via Venmo, however, super confused I kept asking how much a cut was (so I knew going forward), and he was told $75.05 as I didn't pay enough before. I spoke with Juliette who said, "it's ok I balanced it out. I added discount". I again asked but how much is his haircut? Finally, after 10 minutes I discovered his haircut is actually $65.26 (I was indeed 6 cents short). I paid the 6 cents I owed AND paid the requested price of $75.05 that was requested. He won't return as I don't appreciate being cheated. If you state someone is short, then let them know so they can take care of it - in my case it was 6 cents. For 6 cents, and over inflating her pricing, Juliette has lost a monthly client. read more

Love love love this place. Cons: extremely expensive, but they do give you an APPROXIMATE price quote if you ask! Plus their prices are based on their expertise in the area but I know most people don't have $500 to drop on hair. Street parking you have to pay a few quarters for and hunt down. It's a business so they do try to upsell. Staff wear masks but don't enforce their customers to wear them. You have to pay to have them blow dry your hair after the cut/color so I walked out with dripping wet hair since I didn't book a blow dry.. Pros: very clean facility, they offer you water/coffee, very nice and professional staff. They have a new receptionist so booking is extremely organized and price quotes are given. Staff is so flexible and willing to accommodate you!! They sell hair products that you can't find anywhere else that actually work - shout out to the balancing shampoo! They are very responsive if you message them on Yelp. The products they put in your hair feel high end. read more

Insert the 007 Music New customer, with a BAD cut and worst color ( my old stylist is having a hard life moment with covid and just really messed up my hair). Ohhh and I only have a window of time before I have to be out of the chair. I am still in shock! She ACED everything. It's so beyond my expectations of what could be done to fix this. She took me from brassy grown out balayage with broken ends to ICE QUEEN with 20" extensions (over the course of 6 months, which she was totally upfront about). My hair is fine and thin and she made sure to be aware every step of the way to not over process and damage my hair. She was realistic with me about how long it would take to achieve the hair of my dreams. She's incredibly professional and insanely talented. I could go on alllllll day about this rockstar stylist.
