I look for three things in my hair stylist: 1) skill, 2) personality/vibe and 3) a fair price. Amber has all three in spades! Plus she is PASSIONATE about hair and will teach you how to get your hair to be its healthy and best! I met Amber when I was in need of gray coverage on my roots and a good haircut. My hair was severely damaged from being blonde and from my heating tools. Amber taught me that if you air dry your hair 80% and then finish with your blow dryer it mitigates the damage. She also suggested a really great hair mask as a leave in conditioner and between these two techniques, my hair has become stronger and more healthy. Recently I decided I need a change and asked Amber for a more layered cut. By the end of her cut I was asking for bangs. It's been years since I've had bangs and it was a big change. That night she called to check on me she see how I felt! That's the kind of person she is: a true sweetheart. Since my cut and color, I've received so many compliments! The first time I had her, she did a simple style for my hair, and it came out with a really good tame look. The one that she did just now is also really good! She cut my long thick curly hair down to a bob, and even better, colored it. When I felt like the earlier red color was too bright, she was willing to be patient with me, and darken it up a bit. I took a huge gamble by finding someone I've never been to before on yelp and that person was Amber at the guest house. I have thick, dark, curly, Middle Eastern hair. My hair is one of my best features so I was definitely a little bit nervous going to someone new however I couldn't have made a better choice. Her work is above and beyond anything I've experienced. As someone with very absorbent hair, most of my color applications require a second batch. I like a fairly standard style on my very straight short hair, but with my cowlicks and the coarseness of my hair I find I am often unhappy with the bowl shape, or the alfalfa effect, after a cut.
