Efren's Churros is a great home-based churro spot. When fresh, they're soft with a slight chew and lots of crunch. They still maintain the crunch for a few hours before they get chewier so I recommend eating them within the hour. Picking up a tray was really easy too, you just place the order online (if they reach their minimum for that date) and pick up at the time slot selected. I prefer ordering on the spot for smaller quantities because it's much more fresh, with the tray I could tell it was sitting under the warmer for a little bit. Freshly made, not extremely sweet, very soft and crispy. They were amazing! I don't know how they would have tasted if not hot and fresh. These churros are pretty damn good. One of the best I've ever had, if not the best. However, I've rarely eaten churros, though now I want to go on a bay area churro adventure and post my findings. A bag of 6 thin but long churro sticks runs $5, which is a steal! The dough is fried deliciously, with a very crisp exterior and tasty soft inside. The sugar sticks to the dough very well, and are larger granules. Definitely one of the least messy and oily churros I've had. They pretty much taste perfect as sugary fried dough can taste, no criticisms here. Efren updates his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bigEchurros/ with his availability and location. Currently, he sells on the first Saturday of each month between 11am-3pm, with location given when you pre-order via phone or email (he's located in Serra Highlands of SSF). I've been buying Efren's Churros regularly for over a year now. How can you be the most popular person at a party? BRING A TRAY OF THESE CHURROS. Beach picnic planned w/friends? Make sure it's on the first Saturday of the month and BRING A TRAY OF THESE CHURROS. The churros are so good fresh and hot, but they're surprisingly still really good even when cold. These are light and crispy. NO dense dough. The family has an amazing custom-made extruder which I think makes all the difference. I also follow them on IG (@churros_ssf) and learn about cool community events they go to, because there they do CHURRO SUNDAES ($8 at a recent carnival: 2 big scoops of vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped cream, cherry on top, chunks of churros). They'll also frequently do holiday special churro days, like Thanksgiving, Super Bowl, etc, rather than just the first Saturday of the month.
