Tacos are mediocre, portions are extra small, and prices are criminally expensive. I saw them take out the meat in boiling plastic bags, which explains why the carne asada was rubbery. Service was mediocre, as the cashier did not seem happy to serve us. Inside of the truck was also disgusting. I understand that this is a food truck, but cmon at least put some effort into keeping it clean. I would much rather rather go to the other taco trucks on el camino. Stopped here with my wife because we were out running errands and got a little hungry! What a pleasant surprise! I feel like taco trucks can be so hit and miss, but this place is definitely a find! I ordered an al pastor tostada and my wife ordered a chicken tostada. I was a little worried because I noticed them reach for pre-made toatada shells like you would buy at the grocery store. Then my order was ready and I was shocked by how much food they packed on top of a tostada shell! Definitely worth the $5 they charge! The al pastor was AMAZING! It had very good flavor thay I am not used to from a food truck. The Mexican crumbling cheese they put on top was an excellent addition as well. Most restaurants are so stingy with this type of cheese but a generous amount was given with my tostada. My wife let me sample her chicken and while it wasn't as flavorful as mine - it was still better than most food trucks. Honestly the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of five is the pre-made tostada shell. I feel like some homemade shells would really push their tostadas to the next level. Tried this taco truck because my regular taco truck was blow'd up. I went with 5 spicy al pastor tacos and it was a good choice. The tacos had a decent amount of heat to them, but not so hot where I felt like I had a charcoal briquette. For these types of tacos I want simplicity: a slight crispiness to the tortilla, spicy meat, onions and cilantro. Then, a squeeze of lime and a pinch of salt. Cheapest (and some of the best) food in San Bruno. $1 tacos; I usually get chicken but have tried the beef and carnitas as well. All are fantastic. Sour cream is $.25 extra for each but I don't care since the tacos are so cheap. I don't know its exact location..because..well its a truck..they can drive off to a different block and park there..but I do know it does say "El Ranchito" on the outside of its truck. This is one of the trucks that I go to when I want to eat some authentic tacos. I'm talking straight up meat, cilantro, chopped onions and a splash of hot sauce on corn tortillas. Forget going to the mission for Mexican tacos....look for this truck. We ordered a total of 10 tacos (5 for each of us) and they were damn good. We could have gone to a taqueria but we were craving some good cheap tacos and so there we stood on El Camino awaiting for a plate of mini bites of happiness. I've been coming here since I was really little and I always loved their tacos. It was close to my house so I went often. They used to sell tacos for 1$ and they were really good with juicy meat. Then as years went on, the prices increased and the quality diminished. They are at a 1.50$ price point per taco now and I just went today to see if they are any good still and I was greeted by the lady with attitude and presumes to make me wait 15 minutes to take my order even though there was only one other person there. She eventually takes it and I wait about 5 minutes for my tacos to be ready. I take them home and sit down to eat. Open tinfoil and was amazed the tacos literally looked like they had a half spoonful of meat and they just overlapped the tortillas to make it look flush. So disappointed ate the tacos and it was 80% tortilla and 10% meat and 10% sauce. Go to Fluffy's Kitchen it's a block away and they stuff tacos with meat. Stop # 3 on the South SF Taco Truck Run. This truck is located just down the street from Ruddy's on the opposite side of the street on El Camino Real. BTW, it's nice that these OG mobile food trucks stay in one spot. You can always rely on their location and don't have to keep checking Twitter or FB to see where each truck is going to be located. Actually, this gourmet food truck boom might be a great thing for the old school taco trucks. People will eventually get tired of following these new trucks around and charging more and more $$$ for their food due to permit fees and whatnot so they will eventually grow more appreciative of the taco trucks that persevered and still serve awesome Mexican food! Anyway... Again, I had lengua and cabeza tacos like I did at the other 2 trucks in the area. This spot definitely had the best tortillas out of the 3 (Ruddy's & La Barca are the other 2). They were warm, crispy, and not too oily. The added texture of the crispiness just complements street tacos so well. Sometimes you need a little more crunch than that of the onions and cilantro. Yum. The cabeza and lengua were good. Both were well seasoned and well cooked. The chile was good but I wish they gave me a little more. I guess I could have asked for it but I took it to my car to eat so i didn't want to walk back. On that note, the parking situation is tough. I couldn't imagine what it would be like during a busy TOD like lunch or something. There is a few spots in front and in back of the truck but then you have to fend for yourself to find a close enough spot within walking distance. I'm thinking that in itself would chase away the average passerby that might see this truck, especially with other trucks so close by. Nice nice nice workers here. Very professional and not carrying on with each other and ignoring customers like other trucks I know. I am giving some benefit of doubt bcoz I observed the lady who generally takes order was making burritos inside. I am not sure if she regularly makes them or its a one off incident. Bottom line : Generally food has been clean and good except today where I will call horrible. For today , I regret to choose them over Curry Up Indian truck. Service is average pace.
