Came back since the last visit and today the restroom was much cleaner-thank you plus hash browns were cooked more! We had blueberry pancakes, my usual corned beef, plus eggs with bacon sausage and biscuits with gravy. I also appreciated the health food report with no violations yelp helps to supply! Eggs up for the eggciting win! Keep up the good work!!

First time at Eggs up Grill. Good experience although by the time we got there around 11 they were out of grits. Coffee, food and service were all good. It's nice to have options in the Melbourbe/Viera area.

Service 10/10 !! Food 10/10. Absolutely loved this place. The decor is cute and welcoming. Noone had any complaints with their food. I had the chicken and waffles the waffles were cooked perfectly. I liked the breading on my chicken tenders were light and not greasy at all. My mimosa was refreshing and very well balanced as well. I would definitely visit again.

    The cremated remains of breakfast

I'll preface this with saying I came here when it opened and it was an absolute GEM of a local restaurant. However service has consistently gone downhill to the culmination of my final visit to Eggs Up Melbourne. I would encourage you to go elsewhere 45+ minute wait for garbage tier service. Waitress took order and disappeared until food was delivered by a runner 45 minutes later. Bacon and sausage were what only can be described as "cremated." Either the 3 workers standing at the kitchen window don't know what right looks like, or don't care, because they appeared to have zero issue with a lack of quality control. The two managers on duty didn't seem to care either as they were non existent until we raised the issue that the food we ordered 3/4ths of an hour earlier was burned to a point it was inedible. Miraculously properly cooked food showed up 3 minutes later, and it's utterly baffling that they can make that happen after the fact but can't bother to do it right the first time. Take your money elsewhere.

The vibe of this place is just off. As we're seated, I'm told we have to vote in some sort of contest for the wait staff, whom I don't know at all yet. Then, as the host receded, they decide to station the Easter bunny for Easter, which is the next week, right next to the bathrooms, but sitting on a stool staring straight at me. Childhood PTSD kicked in big time. I think that they finally figured that out, because they moved him to the front. The whole thing, like most of the restaurant, was awkward. Food? It was not awful. It was not amazing. It was so unremarkable. I really couldn't remark on anything about it. Anything other than "eh." As I say about three stars: won't thrill ya, won't kill ya. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Excellent service, good food, extensive menu too. I have no pic of the food, cuz I ate it too quick. I will be back though!

    the breakfast I ordered

I placed a takeout order of avocado toast w eggs over medium. They literally cut up some avocado and tossed it on the bread and the eggs were runny. Maybe Im accustomed to really diners coming from the Northeast but this was disgusting.

Red, White and Blue waffle. Looks great and tasted better.

First time visiting Eggs Up Grill. Walking in the Grill is bright and spotless. Greeted as soon as we walked in, within a minute Rob our server was asking what we wanted to drink. Coffee was great as was the service and food. We were sitting there and a woman with a baby carriage was leaving. Rob dropped what he was doing and went to hold the door for the women. I mean how nice was that? We ordered the Red, White and Blue waffles. It was delicious and came with FRESH fruit. Servings were generous and we felt there was a lot of value for the price. We will be back again and we wish this new business good luck. Just look at the photos and plan a trip to the Eggs Up Grill, remember to support local businesses.

Tiny servings of salsa. 2 black olives never supposed to be in our food

Not sure how this place has 4.7 stars. The food is straight up not seasoned. Just go to Backwater.

Very personable and right there seeing if you needed anything. Really, the entire staff were really nice. The place is very clean and nice furnished. Now to the food. I had an octopus/yuca hash. I love grilled octopus so when it's on the menu, I'm getting it. This was great. The entire dish was delicious. The hash part was so flavorful. The yuca was perfect. Not mushy, not hard. The octopus was a little chewy, but the flavor from the preparation and grilling made it YUMMERs!! My wife had the Mojo pork grilled cheese. She loved it. And she must have. She never offered me a taste. She kept it to herself. LOL. Again, a sold 4-star for food. See you all next time. Thanks.

They have the hot griddles built into the tables so that you can make your own pancakes which is what they're known for. We didn't have to wait for a table and the service was pretty quick. I started with a blood orange mimosa (only $6.95) and it was a very generous size. For my entree, I got the 2-pancake stack breakfast combo. I opted for the lemon poppyseed pancakes (which the kitchen cooks), cheesy eggs, and bacon. My husband got the southern breakfast, and our friend got one of their scramble skillets. Upon arrival we were seated pretty quickly and all the staff were very friendly. Our server Amy was awesome and recommended a few breakfast items that were awesome. We opted for the Greek breakfast and the Cuban Benedict which were both fresh and excellent. We also split their seasonal Cinammon pancake as well which was great as well. Pancakes are huge so make sure you leave some room if you plan on having one. All portions were healthy as well, no skimping at Backwater and everyone was in the Christmas spirit as well which was awesome! The atmosphere is friendly, laid back and welcoming which is great if you are from out of Town. So if you are in the area, make sure you check them out for breakfast or lunch. I am sure you will not be disappointed! I would consider myself picky about bacon, as some places miss the mark, but Keke's always gets it right. I would definitely recommend getting your name on the list, especially on weekends, as this is a popular place (rightfully so). Service is always wonderful and atmosphere feels like a diner in your home town. Comparable to First Watch, but I think Keke's takes the cake. I love Keke's and will keep coming back!

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.
