This has been a spot I have been wanting to try. I have studied the menu, and even before arriving, I still couldn't decide right away what I wanted. It all looked & sounded so good. It was my brother in laws birthday and we surprised him by having his brother fly up here. I finally landed on the Lox Benny +avocado and espresso martini. The server was sweet, but he informed us it was his first day, and it definitely showed. It was a weekday lunch, so there were barely anyone dining in. I have worked in the biz, along with all of us, so we were patient. Over all he was sweet, and just needs to get in the swing of things. One of the eggs was not poached (overly cooked so wasn't watery), but over all it tasted amazing. I ordered a 2nd drink different from the first, and ooof, it was not good. The entire table wasn't impressed with their 2nd round either, we all tried something different. We had to return my sisters rum coffee completely. The strawberry drink tasted like complete syrup and was very thick. I felt bad and didn't want to return that one as well. I asked for them to water it down, It still wasn't great. I drank it anyway. Over all the server was nice/friendly and doing his best for his first day, we all enjoyed our time together, the food hit the spot and tasted excellent, but I wouldn't personally order the pre set cocktails they have on the menu. UPDATE: After reviewing my receipt, not only did they not take the drink we returned back off, BUT they have a credit card tax: 2.38$, a TN state tax 11.31, a TN County Tax: 3.68 and A Liquor tax: 15.00$ which totals 32.32$ JUST ON TAXES. The food was really good. We ordered the steak and eggs, the Southwestern omelette, and French toast. Overall, the flavors were definitely there and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The service was a bit delayed compared to some of my previous experiences at similar restaurants, but the staff was still friendly and the restaurant was very busy during our visit. The ambiance was good -- lively atmosphere, clean environment, and you can definitely see why the place is trending right now. This eatery is a great addition to the Knox food scene and adds another vibe to the Kern's lineup of offerings. The atmosphere is modern, clean and cozy, with lots of booths and a menu that is best described as a Cajun-American Comfort food fusion. Stopped by Eggspectations in Knoxville and had a really good experience overall. I ordered the All-American Breakfast, and it came out in a matter of minutes--super fast service. There was no wait at the bar, which made it an easy and convenient stop. The food selection is excellent, and I really appreciated the winter menu options. The bar staff was friendly, attentive, and did a great job, which definitely added to the experience. The only reason this isn't a full 5 stars for me is flavor. The food was good and well prepared, but I wished it had a bit more punch from a breakfast standpoint. That said, I'll admit I'm a breakfast connoisseur and pretty picky when it comes to morning meals. I've been here at least twice for work and personal trips and found it was hit (best ever) and miss (questioned if I'd come back). So we're landing around a 4/5 based on that. Perks of course were the drinks being amazing both times and the food being excellent and pretty good as well. The staff situation was not great the 2nd visit - the waitress we had either was having a rough day or thought we had a problem (which we didn't) and was snippy and distant, leaving us to chase down others to finish our experience and get to a check. The inside was nice to look at and very clean. Plenty of parking outside since it's tied to many other businesses in the same building. We've committed to trying it one more time before we give up - every business can't be perfect all the time...we'd still recommend it even if but for the food/drinks! See you there! read more

I came here this past weekend with my husband for a lunch in between errands and it was completely worth it. The food and service were spot on. Walking in we were warmly greeted. The hostess showed us to a table that accommodated our stroller with our little one in. She offered to let us use their little lift thing to get down past the stairs but we opted to lift the stroller for the few stairs instead. The fries and the gravy paired great with the duck confit. The duck melted in your mouth. The dish was savory and addicting. The Eggspectation crepe was light and filled with goodies. I ordered the cajun pasta and french fries for takeout. I had been craving pasta and loved that Eggspectation had it on its menu. It took about 30 minutes for my order to be ready. The portion of the pasta was awesome, made 2.5 meals out of it. It contained both chicken and sausage. There were a few sprinkling of red bell peppers as well. Taste wise, the dish would have been elevated had there been a little bit more salt and pepper added to it. The pasta was cooked past al dente, which was not exactly to my liking. I had breakfast here with a friend from California. We went on a weekday so it wasn't as crowded. I hear on the weekends it gets slammed. Super cute ambiance. The booths are very comfortable. Our server was attentive and helpful with our menu questions. I had a coffee and my friend had the seasonal apple cider mimosa. Hers was better than mine. I arrive here for a quick brunch while waiting for my daughter. There was no line and no wait. The hostess was friendly and allowed me to pick my table outside. I preferred outside seating. The music was casual. It was at perfect level . The waitress, Rachel, was kind and allow me to take my time while ordering. I settled on the lamb and it didn't disappoint. The lamb was cooked to my desired temp. I really enjoyed the Jamaican coffee. As someone who works in the public, having workers fixing on lights and tables during business hours wasn't a good look. Topped with their signature Hollandaise sauce and grilled shrimp. I thought the burger was cooked to perfection, the shrimp was well seasoned, and the hollandaise was very buttery but too rich for my liking. The dressing on the Caesar salad had a slight anchovy taste, and the croutons were buttery and crispy. My dad got the Eggspectation Burger with fries and mixed greens. The burger is a 7oz. Angus beef burger covered in melted cheddar cheese and applewood-smoked bacon with chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, and red onions. Topped with a sunny-side-up free-range egg. He enjoyed the burger. My mom got the Reuben with fries and mixed greens. The Reuben has sliced beef pastrami on marbled rye with sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and house-made Thousand Island dressing. She loved it. We made a trip to Knoxville and stopped at Kern's Hall for lunch. After exploring all options decided to give Eggspectation a try their menu. My spouse and I shared a plate of calamari that was made in delicious tempura batter. We shared the special of the day which was Fish and chips. The fish was made in the same tempura batter which was so good I was licking my fingers. We ordered garlic bread to take home for our evening meal. It was delicious. I cut it up and poured the garlic butter over the bread to reheat in toaster oven. We definitely plan to try other items on their menu during future trips to the Knoxville area. This was my third time at Eggspectation at Kern's Food Hall, and I've officially seen both sides. The first time I went with my brunch crew -- we rotate eateries every month -- and it was a win. I ordered the veggie omelet with asparagus. It came with homestyle potatoes and a small salad, which honestly felt like a lot of food for the price. I asked for toast and was brought two slices of whole grain with butter on the side. I didn't notice an extra charge. Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and filling. My friends ordered a mix -- lemon ricotta pancakes, a gorgeous Bloody Mary, other brunch plates -- and everyone left happy. The second visit was for a birthday brunch -- about 20 of us. That could've gone left, but it didn't. The waitresses were attentive and kind. No confusion. No drama. I ordered my same veggie omelet (if it's not broken, I'm not fixing it), and it was just as good as the first time. Now, fast-forward to Saturday, February 28, 2026. I brought three girlfriends -- their first time. I was feeling like the resident expert at that point. We were seated at a high-top near the back, right in front of the bar, after about ten minutes. And then... nothing. Fifteen to twenty minutes went by. No greeting. No water. No "we'll be right with you." Just the host who sat us. We were hungry, so I flagged down a server named Michael. I don't think we were in his section, but he said he'd take care of us, which I appreciated. I let him know we'd been sitting a while but weren't quite ready to order yet. It took about another ten minutes before he came back. By then, we were starved. The energy felt different this time. Off. I didn't even feel adventurous enough to try something new. I stuck with my tried-and-true veggie omelet. This time I was charged for the toast. The omelet didn't look as hearty, and I didn't really see the asparagus like before -- maybe it was there, maybe not -- but it felt different. My friends? Not impressed. One ordered wings and potatoes and said she'd take them home as soon as she saw them, to put in the air fryer. She ate maybe three wings. Another ordered the breakfast with ham, eggs, sausage, and potatoes. She said the "breakfast ham" looked like deli slices and didn't care for any of it. The third ordered French toast and bacon and boxed most of it up. To be fair, Michael stepped in when no one else did. We thanked him. But this visit didn't feel like the first two. And consistency matters. I know new spots in food halls are still finding their rhythm, and I'm hoping this was just an off day. We've been really excited to try this place since we saw the signs for it at Kern. We just left and it was one of the most disappointing breakfast experiences we've had. We made reservations and were seated immediately when we got in. But that's where the positive ended. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came by our table to take our drink order, which the server started with "I'm not sure who's section you're in, but you've been sitting here so I'll take you." It took a few minutes to get our coffees, which was fine. The drip coffee is undrinkable. I love coffee, but this was so bitter that there was no saving it. A runner dropped off our food, but we didn't see our sever again for about 15-20 minutes. We were missing syrup for our pancakes, but by the time we saw her again we just asked for the check. We left and went to a local spot to pick up coffee to make up for the $6.00 we spent on 2 cups of coffee neither of us drank. Between the service and how awful I felt for how disappointing our monthly breakfast out was, we won't be back. read more

Multiple times servers tended the other tables right near us and even made eye contact. At this point my wife went inside and nicely asked if we could have a server, in which was acknowledged by staff. Another 15 minutes went by without any contact. my wife and I decided to leave. We walked by , not angry just bummed; we told the hostess we are going to leave , she respond "Okay". Not the one to ever really review , but service is poorly managed. We had a little bit of a rocky start. I was running late and my friend had been there for over 20 minutes and no one had come by to offer her a drink. So I get there, wait probably 5 more minutes and still no server. So, instead of getting upset and letting this spoil our brunch, I made the executive decision to move to the bar top.
