I don't review much, but I had to with our experience here! Even on a busy Saturday the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us since we had a dog and needed outdoor seating. We were celebrating our pup's birthday and many staff members came by to say hi! They placed us in the perfect spot outside in the perfect atmosphere so that we had plenty of room for our crazy pup to wander on his leash and not get in the way. They also gave us a water bowl for him since it was a hot day. The food was perfect and came out just how we asked! Props to our waitress, Prescott and the manager Savannah! Last night a gentleman next to our table said "you gotta try Ruby Sunshine" This morning I would say I completely agree, at the door I could see food going to tables and I immediately thought "wow" I ordered the Trifecta, it was delicious but I personally realized that I'm not a chicken Benedict guy. This isn't a jab at Ruby, I just enjoyed the other 2 better. The staff was very friendly and efficient, my only jab is the seating because I'm 6'3 I felt too big for the chair and I would of liked a booth but the booths are bigger for 4+ parties. So happy to have finally made it into Ruby Sunshine! This little gem sitting on the Northwest corner of Market Square has been on my must try list for years but has not worked out until today! My wife and I were seated at a tiny 2-person booth next to the bar. The bar had about a dozen seats and looked inviting. There was a large outdoor patio that was packed on this Sunday morning! Inside dining room was bright and colorful with paintings and fun pictures and descriptions of menu items. After starting with one of the best Bloody Mary we have ever had (so thick and spicy and yummy!!!!) we ordered from the extensive menu. I had a 3 Little Pigs Omelet which was bacon and sausage patty and sausage link with 3 eggs and Swiss cheese. Served with a side of grits that were perfectly textured and tasted wonderful. Also a biscuit. The wife ordered biscuits and sausage gravy with a side of fried chicken. It was hot and yummy and delicious! Service was quick. Click your heels twice and you'll be at Ruby Sunshine, a New Orleans-themed brunch joint at Market Square. Eggs Benedict appeared to be a big part of their menu so I ordered the Chicken St. Charles, fried chicken on top of eggs Benedict and a biscuit. While the chicken and gravy were very salty, still had a pretty good flavor. Unfortunately despite the decent presentation, the eggs were overcooked, basically hard boiled. Instead of replacing the dish I did ask for them to bring a replacement poached egg and some gravy, which they did. The beignets were extremely sugary but this time had a peach flavor, which was a great brunch dessert. When a brunch place struggles to cook an eggs benedict, it wouldn't be my first choice, but it was pretty good. read more

We decided to go downtown to the chalk art festival. In order to beat the crowds we went early and chose Ruby sunshine for breakfast. Great location for easy access to market Square. Even better they had cocktails so we sat at the bar and ordered some food and drinks. He had the meat lovers omelette, and I had the fried chicken sandwich. I'm not a big breakfast person so I was very pleased to find I could have lunch items for breakfast. Both were really good. At first, we thought the portions were a little small but at the end we were happy because they were both very good and we were full and didn't need to eat more. Overall, a good breakfast. read more

We had been to the one located in New Orleans and found this location a little disappointing. The booth benches were very hard with no soft surface to sit comfortably. I did enjoy hot chocolate with whipped cream and a splash of chocolate syrup on top. I had the French toast and bacon. I never got strawberries put on top of my meal. My spouse had two eggs, bacon, biscuit, grits and potatoes. We did appreciate the waitress taking our order and providing a to go cup of coffee for my spouse. The food here is very good. Some portions were smaller than expected. (The beignet bites were a starter with only about 8 or 9 crouton-sized bites. Delicious but not enough for a table appetizer or meal.) Our server was really nice. She shared her favorites when we told her it was our first time and she didn't forget about us, even though we were on the patio and not ordering alcohol. This place can have a very long wait, so I recommend going to their website and getting on the wait list. It updates your place in line, so we sat down very quickly. The French toast starter was extremely pricy for the quantity that was provided. Breakfast tacos was a good portion size for the price. We visited at 10:00 on Mother's Day, but as we were "wait listed', there was no wait. The place was busy, but our server, Kirra", was great. The menu is slightly shorter than the one on-line however. The food was delicious, and although busy, we weren't hurried at all. Seated near the hostess stand, I watched as a menu fell to the floor. A server immediately picked it up (without looking around to see if she was observed), sanitized it, and put it where it belonged. A more unprofessional server would have just picked it up off the floor and put it back in the stack. I give them extra points for this! read more

My wife went with the triple Benedict which looked and tasted amazing. I had the southern breakfast which looked like it came from the kiddie menu, shaking the spoon on scrambled eggs has a whole new meaning, had to eat the soft grits with my fork (this should be an Olympic sport), the (hard as a rock, sitting under the hot lamps too long) biscuit provided came with no butter or any type of jam or jelly. We had shrimp and grits and a cob salad. The brown gravy on the grits was greasy and heavy tasting. The cob salad was more the size of a side salad and was missing many of the traditional ingredients usually found on a cob salad. We had good service the waitress was very prompt and attentive. We found the inside of the restaurant to be dirty with dropped food smashed into the floor,the restroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in serveral days. As a huge fan of Ruby Slipper in NOLA and having none in NY, I had to visit while in town - my second time at this location, my first back in 2024 - which was great! This time felt the food wasn't up to par - my eggs cochon cold, replaced and eggs not cooked correctly - ugh - but I wasn't sending it back a second time! We were seated upstairs and out of the way, there was a stench from the bathrooms - which I don't think have been deep cleaned EVER - wafting throughout the downstairs!!! Please, please improve as I do love your food and don't ever want to be disappointed!! I'll be in New Orleans for Jazz Fest and back in Knoxville at the end of May and unless I haven't had my fill during my 13 days in NOLA - I'll be back - please do better!!! I saw this restaurant featured on TikTok and I was so excited to try it. We were downtown for a morning show on a week day and I insisted on eating here. There was no wait and it was pretty empty. Probably because of it being a week day. Our waitress was nice and helpful with the menu. The food was just ok. I was expecting more for the price. The beignet appetizer was over cooked. We had the trifecta, a breakfast sandwich, a breakfast bowl and kids pancakes. The biscuits were hard and the pork in the trifecta and bowl was dry. The kids pancakes were good. I'd been to Ruby Slipper in New Orleans before, so I knew what to expect with the menu at Ruby Sunshine. This chain is expanding and it seems that they're moving forward with the Ruby Sunshine name as they do so. They're known for their southern brunch dishes, and brunch happens to be my favorite meal, so I was happy to stop by before heading back home. The restaurant was empty when I arrived around 9 am on a weekday morning. They were doing quite a bit of takeout/DoorDash. I got the Southern Breakfast, which is their take on the classic breakfast plate, with two eggs any style, stone-ground grits, Applewood-smoked bacon, fried green tomato with a buttermilk biscuit. My server was very sweet and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out, and everything looked great. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium and I loved the crispy bacon. The grits were cheesy (upcharge for cheese) but a little bland - some Crystal hot sauce helped. I loved the fried green tomato! It was super crispy and the breading was nicely seasoned. The biscuit was delicious - I'm not normally a big biscuit person but it's true, they taste better in the south. Plus the honey butter was amazing.
