I always say if you go to a diner that has a person name first you will not be disappointed and it still holds true. The food was delicious and was priced fair. The service was outstanding. The waitress that took care of the table was great. The drinks were refilled and taken care of without asking. The restaurant seemed like a local staple in the neighborhood because it was busy but not crowded. The team got people in and out quickly but was not rushing anyone while they were there eating. Will return for breakfast again before leaving the city. Definitely recommend. read more

LOVE LOVE Pete's. Truly a local favorite & even on Gameday they kept a smile and worked as fast as possible to serve everyone a warm breakfast quickly. We arrived right around 10 and made it in (even with a line out the door) before breakfast ended. Their biscuits and gravy are a favorite, because they don't add chunks of sausage while still keeping the flavor as if they had. Dan and I met our granddaughter at Pete's this morning. We all 3 got their special of the day, eggs Benedict. If I were to rate them by this one dish, I would give them a 1, but it's not fair to rate a restaurant that low based on one dish. At the same time, I disagree with my husband (who also hated their version of eggs Benedict) but gave them a 4, because they not only served a bad dish, but made it their special. Considering their popularity and the way the lunch crowd seemed to be enjoying their food and conversation, I'm giving them a 3. The service was excellent and the ambiance was busy and bustling. The eggs Benedict were a disgrace to such a popular eatery. Instead of Canadian bacon, they used fairly large pieces of regular ham. I could have looked past that if it wasn't for the sauce. I don't know what ingredients they used for the sauce, but it neither looked nor tasted like any hollandaise sauce I've ever tried. It was darker than most and overly salty. Again, it's hard to rate a restaurant on one dish. The fact they had so many happy customers shows they must be cooking some pretty good food. I will try their lunch menu sometime. read more

If you are HUNGRY, then this place is for you! Their pancakes are not only delicious but they are also humongous. The will cook your bacon as you like -- from limp to crispy. Eggs are perfect- whether scrambled or fried. A mountain of potatoes that are not greasy not overcooked. Biscuits or toast as you please. They have good coffee and even hot chocolate for the kids. Service and ambience were quite pleasing. We met our granddaughter there while she had a break in her schedule at nearby UT. We all got the breakfast special, Eggs Benedict. Was not the best EB I've had, not by a long shot. The yolks of the eggs were overcooked and I don't know what the yellow stuff on top was but it wasn't hollandaise sauce. This was my first visit so I won't judge them by just one dish. Other dishes I saw carried by looked pretty tasty. I'll give them another shot next time I'm in Knoxville. read more

I encountered very poor customer service and found the staff to be unappreciative of their customers. I was told by the server, I think her name was Holly, upon taking my seat at the counter that they were only doing carry out orders since it was close to closing time. I was fine with that and it seemed fair since it was 15 minutes until closing time. However a gentleman who came in after I did, and who sat next to me at the counter, was allowed to order as dine in. I questioned why, and the server said it was because he worked there sometimes. That doesn't seem to me like a great way to treat paying customers, and certainly made me feel like more of a nuisance than appreciated. As I said I was fine with carry out only, but that should be a blanket rule for everyone not just randomly applied. read more

The food was pretty good, ambiance and vibe is great, has that diner feel. We went on a Sunday morning and sat outside. It took us 30 minutes to even get some waters to our table. When we finally got our order taken, it took another hour to get our food. I understand it can be busy, but waiting half an hour for drinks and another hour for food is unacceptable. Pete's is a great, traditional diner if you're in downtown Knoxville. I met some people for a business meeting last week during breakfast, and it was delicious. I chose Pete's Breakfast combo (eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a biscuit). It was a ton of food, and even though I don't like hash browns, the combo was the most cost effective choice. The gentlemen I met ordered a breakfast sandwich and a bowl. Both said they were delicious. Service was good, and the food was delivered quickly. Pete's also has lunch options, although I've only had breakfast there. There's usually no issue with parking. Keep in mind the Locust Street garage is a great, convenient parking spot. read more

We also had the reuben which comes on marbled rye. This sandwich was fought over. Second time I had half a BLT and the veggie soup. I went to Pete's on the last day of our family vacation to Tennessee. All week, the food has exceeded expectations. Every time we would eat somewhere, the next place would be even better. In the end, I can safely declare that Tennessee offers food as good or (most often) better than even our trip to Italy (sorry Italy). BACK TO PETE'S: We went due to the recommendations and reviews posted online and YouTube. Although the service was great, the food kinda sucked! It was the worst food we have eaten all week. I'm not saying it was bad. It was edible. It just lacked flavor. The sausage patty has a strange consistency and flavor. The biscuits we good but the gravy lacked any flavor. It is popular, but I would have to rate it at the level of Dennys. If you want your mind own, try Paula Deen's or even Buc-ee's (yes, I said it!).for breakfast. read more

As we are on the perfect breakfast landing search, we found Pete's in downtown Knox and made a date to give them a try. We opted for a midweek AM time slot which turned out to be good for foot traffic into the eatery. Parking was fairly easy, plenty of lots close by and some select street meter parking. We were lucky to hit an open meter and it only cost us a 1.50. Walking in it is a seat yourself spot with plenty of tables and booths along with a counter option if you want to be close to the action. The wait staff was welcoming and fast of their feet to get our orders in and kick start us off with our "cup of Joe." We put our orders in and Pete's must have the Guinness record for fast service as it was under 5 minutes our orders were down in front of us hot and ready to eat, impressive ! My breakfast partner opted for the two cakes, two eggs and bacon. From a pancake expert she gave them the thumbs up as she plopped her over easy eggs on top. I opted for the Pete's Country Breakfast, ham, two eggs, hash browns and a homemade biscuit. Good news: Speedy service Nice looking plates Friendly waitstaff Fair pricing Great pancakes & hash browns Bad news: Meat was WAY too salty - almost hard to eat (bacon and ham both), the bacon was whimpy as well. Biscuit was average and a little cakey Parking can be a pain The meat issue was a show stopper for us, while it looked OK the salt level was a 9 and the bacon was a weak and fairly cheap. Thankful that I tasted before table seasoning otherwise it would have been inedible. Having compared Pete's to Sami's .. Sami's comes up first hands down. read more

The restaurant is super cute and the service was friendly and awesome. I ordered the breakfast sampler platter which came with two eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and biscuits with gravy.
