I take no pleasure in writing this review because this school was once something truly special. For…read moremany years, San Diego Jewish Academy had a strong sense of community, excellent teachers, and leadership that seemed focused on what was best for students. Unfortunately, that no longer appears to be the case. Over the past few years, a series of decisions by the school's leadership has fundamentally changed the culture of the school, and not for the better. Families who have been part of the community for years are choosing to leave, and it is not difficult to understand why. When long-standing members of a school community begin walking away, it should be a signal that something is seriously wrong. The most disappointing part is that the decline feels avoidable. Rather than building on the strengths that made the school successful, management seems to be making decisions that have weakened trust, damaged morale, and eroded the sense of community that once defined the school. This review is not written out of bitterness but out of genuine disappointment. Many of us wanted this school to succeed because we believed in its mission. It is painful to watch an institution with so much potential lose the confidence of the very families who helped make it successful. I sincerely hope the Board and school leadership take an honest look at the growing number of departing families and ask why this is happening. The school still has talented teachers and tremendous potential, but without meaningful changes in leadership and decision-making, I worry that the downward trend will continue.

Throughout my time attending Mira Costa, I've taken a majority of my classes at this campus it has always been a good space. The recent remodel has made the internals of the buildings feel more modern and provide even more access for students than they did before. Mira Costa strives to be inclusive and adaptable to best fit the students needs. The art classes are by far my favorite part, getting to sit in with a bunch of new faces and get to spend hours working on artistic projects is such a therapeutic way to spend time

Right across the street is the beautiful lagoon and the most gorgeous hiking trails surround it too! It's great for people who live along the coast and don't wanna drive up to Oceanside all the time and the library is new and well equipped! Well, they don't offer as many in-person classes as Oceanside campus, the classrooms are newer, and the class size is a bit smaller, which means you get more attention from the professors. Parking is always a breeze, staff are wonderfully helpful, and I am rooting for this site to gain more popularity and more students! While my time here is pretty much up... I'm glad I was able to attend this campus along with the Oceanside one.

I had a horrible experience trying to take Microbiology. The lab aspect was a complete nightmare…read morebecause the lab company UCSD works with is incredibly disorganized. I'm currently taking a Chemistry course. This week, I spent one hour learning chemistry on Canvas, and five hours trying to get my textbook and homework platform to link with Canvas. Canvas provides no instructions whatsoever. The professor just tells you to contact the textbook company. The textbook website says to click on a link on Canvas. Unfortunately that link in Canvas takes you to a blank page. Other students are having problems too. This is my second horrible experience with UCSD Extension. If you want to learn science, find another place to take your classes. If you want to spend hours trying to resolve technical problems, this is a great option. I wish UCSD Ext would not outsource.

I took Microbiology with Lab 169818 at UC San Diego and it was the most disorganized experience…read more Lessons are everywhere. Not organized at all. Mixed up and repeated information the learning sections. The videos provided for learning are not the teacher speaking and are random people/"professors" but some of them can't even pronounce the words and sound like they have NO CLUE what they are talking about. It's quite confusing what you really need to know for the class because the modules say one thing but the PowerPoints, reading, and videos talk about that plus way more. It's very much so an overload. It's like no one took the time to perfect or even proofread this class setup and modules. Science lab kit is way overpriced for what you get. Like really for $450 you couldn't add 2 paper clips, alcohol, extra masks, more candles, extra Petri dishes with agar, and extra microbes (for any errors). We are not experts here and being left alone to do the labs especially at the beginning is trial and error. For me I accidentally punctured the agar with the loop and ruined my whole sample and it was just shit out of luck unless I wanted to buy more myself (only about $10 but I just paid $450 for this kit so why should I have to do that?). Not everything in the kit was used. It was a huge waste of money. The class is kind of "at your own pace" so you could totally finish early and wing it! I guess if you have the money and don't really want to learn but just need the class- go for it. I would never recommend this class or school to anyone. It was a terrible experience and this is coming from someone who already has a degree and has taken MANY online classes.

SIO is a science university where students emerge as geophysicists, marine biologists and seismologists. Their studies involve around research. Research about the effects the ocean has on the world's environment. SIO comprises 1,200 acres of coastal woodland and is located in La Jolla, California, where both the students studying here, and students from other local universities get to be a part of these endeavors, too. Students study issues currently affecting the world, such as rising sea temperatures, overfishing, the impact of methyl mercury in fish, the plastic degradation in the environment ... well, you get the picture. The students study the ocean off La Jolla shores' Pacific Ocean at the famous Ellen Browning Scripps Pier and in shore-based laboratories. Students and professors also motor out miles further from the pier on SIO's fleet of oceanographic research vessels. The fleet of vessels are based at Nimitz Marine Facility. Students also get the opportunity to travel to remote locations all around the entire world to study with students from other universities, and vice-versa. Birch Aquarium at Scripps is located nearby. It is open to the public, as an aquarium for ocean science education. SIO is known as first in the nation and was voted the 5th best public university for research in 2018. Although Biocom focuses on educating those working in the business side of science and research, Biocom courses are also great for corporate leadership and professional development across ALL industries. While I lived in San Diego, I took two courses, one on negotiating deals and another on intellectual property basics. Both times I got helpful handouts and the courses included both lecture and workshop components where you could put ideas to practice and apply them to real life examples. The courses are highly interactive in a small group setting. I just got home from the "Present to Influence" one-day workshop which was all about creating presentations, including the public speaking and slide deck elements. The instructor, Mario of 2Connect, went into great detail and we spent a great deal of hands-on time reviewing and improving presentations I had brought in to the workshop. We even did live video analysis, written outlines and detailed critiques. I learned so much and am excited to bring all my new knowledge (and improved pitch decks) back to my workplace. Although I no longer live in San Diego, it was worth making the 3-hour trip down for such an intensive training and coaching session. My only complaint is that "Present to Influence" is only offered twice a year! They list a bunch of events and courses online. If you are a member of Biocom either as an individual or if your employer has a group membership, you get a small discount on classes. TIP: Unlike the old office in UTC, the new Biocom office has free parking and is inside a gorgeous new building! It's also in the same building as the new Brian Malarkey restaurant, The Farmer and the Seahorse, so you can easily step away for a nice lunch when you get a break during an all-day BIOCOM class.

No need to study or buy textbook! just show up to midterm and final and you should be okay! (I do not recommend this for your other classes...learned this the hard way...) ERC housing is super close to RIMAC gym and arena if you like working out. The housing is also super close to the Village transfer housing which was super nice and new when I lived there! There is a sushi Bistro restaurant that you can use your dining dollars at nearby, a market which used to have the best Iced White Mochas on campus (at least when I went here)! Cafe V also had pretty good chipotle mayo for their burgers. Not really many places to study at ERC :( I always ended up "studying" all the way in Warren college in the computer labs (SHOUTOUT TO EBU3B you da real MVP)! Also cuter dudes studying in the Engineering section of Geisel. Parking is pretty much non-existent unless you're lucky enough to snag a spot at Pangea Parking Garage or Hopkins! Good luck! The counselors here are AWESOME! Definitely willing to work with their students. They understand that everyone learns differently and willing to set goals and plans! YAYYY! If you're applying to UCSD and don't know which college to choose ERC is not bad! I would also consider Marshall, Muir or Warren! Def not 6th college lol. Good luck kids!
